Ocean Valley Veterinary Hospital

We have been going to this practice for seven years. The current veterinarian Dr. Lemire is kind and truly cares for animals. He has an interesting and unique personality for sure. He offers thorough and comprehensive care to our small breed dog. The doc takes the time to talk about your pet. He did highly recommend a dental cleaning for our dog but as I understand it– dogs need their teeth brushed!

The owner Dr. Douglas Lemire is out of his mind, he cannot remember anything you tell him and looses important medical information for your pet constantly. I would get more help from a brick wall. He try’s and sells you his «dental cleaning» services every single time you visit and that seems to be the ONLY thing he will talk about. It’s awkward because he doesn’t want to take no for an answer and makes you feel like your pet will suffer by not getting his services done. He is so rude and will put his hand in your face mid sentence when your talking to him. He forgot to mention when my dogs urinalysis came back that there was sugar, white blood cells and blood in his urine because he didn’t think it was anything to worry… 6 months later my dog almost died from stones in his bladder and diabetes. When we brought him back there was a dead cat in a shoe box with a post-​it note saying «Sparkle– drop off deceased» in the waiting room on a coffee table, a guy with a dog who was HEAVILY bleeding from the result of the surgery the vet preformed the previous weekend to spay the boxer and he told the man that he didn’t have time to help him. Another man came in furious with his dog who was accidentally given the wrong medication and the dog was having horrible side effects, the dr. Then told him to make an appointment.
I was MORTIFIED when he started yelling at the receptionist in front of me. He called her useless and a waste of space I could here the entire fight as he left the door open and was screaming at her. He then walked in the room and made a «joke» about a crossing guard not knowing their left from right…
It is dirty, dusty, urine everywhere, small, smell of feces and there is a giant unfriendly Maine coon cat at the front desk hissing (made my dogs go crazy and made the vet more stressful for them) not to mention how hard it is to pay and check out with the cat sitting on you. This place is a mess. They have absolutely no organization the dr was dropping pills all over the ground, the scheduling for appointments is always double or sometimes triple booked, if you need to get ahold of anyone they never answer the phone or respond to voicemails, the hours say they are open an you show up and it’s closed but he is inside the vet office (giant glass windows) walking around.
I really could go for days about how bad this place is… And it really should be shut down. Switched over to a vet in Rye and have never been happier. Get out of ocean valley while you can!
