Stoweflake Resort

Second year in a row staying here & it has not gotten better, in fact it has gotten worse.
The menu is the same as last year and the food is absolutely gross, old, expired, pre-​made frozen foods.
The rooms are old, dated with some maintenance issues. Do not look under your bed — always a true tell sign of a hotels cleaning abilities or lack thereof.
A huge disappointment.
Some of the staff however are super nice, helpful & try their best given their environment.
Will not ever come back here to stay.

Stayed here four nights. On third day came back early evening and had never received maid service. Complained to front desk person at check out the next day. She apologized. Well customer service 101, maybe knock a few bucks off the bill as we had spa services and stayed four nights. There is really no excuse for not cleaning a room. These guys aren’t very good at dealing with complaints, and having a clue about customer service. I would have been happy with 50% off for a night for another visit. Do something when you screw up. Not cleaning someone’s hotel room makes it seem like you forgot they are there for Gods sake.

I love Stoweflake! I go skiing at Stowe MT every year, and every year I stop in at Stoweflake spa on the way home. Their spa treatments and overall experience are exceptional. This is the first year I actually stayed at the resort, and we brought our labradoodle with us too. She also loved it, and was greeted with a bag of treats when we arrived :) The concierge Jim was awesome! Great with recommendations and follow up. The rooms were clean, and room service was prompt. Couple disappointments/​suggestions: I found disappointing was that there was absolutely nothing in the am for guests. No coffee, fruit, etc. I thought that at least offering coffee in the main lobby would be available. Isn’t some sort of a basic continental breakfast a basic commodity these days? Also, although the spa is exceptional, it is a little bit outdated for their prices. I’ve been going there for 10+ years at this point, and there haven’t been any noticeable updates since I started going there. Other than that, we’re definitely going back.

There was nothing really special at all about the Stoweflake, kind of lacking in character. The landscaping was lacking, there obviously had been no fall clean up. There was a garden hose stretched across a few parking spots for two days and a broken bottle was never cleaned up. Cigarette butts and dirt throughout the lot left a bad impression.
We stayed in a king suite and found it comfortable enough but the mattress itself was substandard for a place that claims four stars. On the plus side the pillows were very comfortable, but again a down note, one of the pillowcases was stained with what looked like chocolate. We also got a stained towel. All in all there seemed to be a lack of attention to detail.
The spa itself was very nice although the lack of a full time men’s room attendant was noticeable. A full time attendant could keep on top of towels, cleaning, etc … The aqua solarium, the Hungarian salt bath, the waterfall and the whirlpool are very nice. I love a steam room but this was easily the hottest one I’ve ever been in, unbearable for more than 5 minutes.
We would use the spa again but stay at a different hotel.

We stayed at The Stoweflake resort and spa in the meadows 3 bedroom townhouse and it was a gorgeous home away from home overlooking a pond. A full kitchen with all utensils, 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, washer dryer, 2 dining rooms and living rooms with fireplace. We went with other couples and had a wonderful weekend getaway. We love the spa amenities and mineral salt soak and waterfall hot pool. Both the front desk and spa attendees were wonderful.

We ended up here on a random Wednesday night after we got a great deal on Priceline. Because of the great deal that we got, I’m not mad at all about our stay.
The hotel is very outdated inside the room and around the grounds. Our fireplace didn’t work, but it was summer and we didn’t need it.
The hotel staff was nice and the stay was satisfactory. I don’t think I would pay a lot for this place but it’s good when you just want to check Stowe out!

This is the first review I have ever written, but I am compelled to extend my experience at Stoweflake to others who might consider staying here. This has been the best resort stay thus far, and I’ve been to many all over the US. First, my room (a king studio) let too much morning light through the sliders so I called the front desk. They immediately upgraded my room to a 1 bedroom town home at no additional charge; they had a bellman bring the new key and offer us a ride over. Second, I was getting a massage at their beautiful spa and had a literal panic attack. The woman masseuse stayed with me for an extra 30 – 40 minutes, showing me breathing techniques and reassuring me that she was CPR trained. The lady behind the desk had chamomile tea brought and when nothing else worked she had an EMS do an actual EKG to make sure I was ok. Finally, the room was lovely, the amenities were great, and every person who worked there was amazing. The restaurant food was wonderful and when they didn’t have what we wanted they directed us to somewhere that did. I would never stay somewhere else if I’m in Vermont again. The staff is just unbelievable and although I I had a horrible panic attack, the stay was nothing but good memories because of the people who work there.

Gay ski week — it’s 1:06am and the fire alarm has been going off for over 30 minutes now — I wonder who’s in trouble!

I’ve definitely experienced way better hotels for less than half the price of this place. I feel bad that I’m leaving such a bad review, but honestly this place is VERY OUTDATED! We paid $ 900 for 2 nights in the suite, and what we got was a broken fireplace, smelly green carpet, a lumpy couch, and less than impressive facilities. We also got a wonderful view of the parking lot. Awesome.
SPA: The only good thing we experienced was the couples massage, but it was our first one so we honestly don’t have anything to compare it to — we really did enjoy it though. In terms of the facilities, wow, our sports gym is nicer than their «luxurious spa.» The co-​ed area has faded wallpaper that tries to imitate nature, and the waterfall has super fake rocks that you can literally punch into if you tried. The soaking area was a nice temp, but very small and it can get awkward if you’re in there with another couple.
All the people that worked there were super friendly, so I’ll give them that.
I have no idea why this place has so many good reviews — I think it’s extremely overhyped and we are very disappointed.
Overall, this «4 diamond whatever» hotel was MEH and for the price, definitely not worth it.

A great place to stay. Clean and spacious rooms. Great spa facility. Perfect location and close to northern Stowe sight seeing activities. We love this place and would choose again. Taking a star off as the AC was not working and it choked. Courteous staff did move us to next room at 1:30 am in the night. They should check and maintain these regularly. Otherwise absolutely no complains. Beds were nice and pillows Comfy. Reception staff was polite and helpful.

We went to our usual hotel, only to find it out of business. Went to the ‘Flake. Enjoyed the spa and the amenities. My wife told our closed hotel story and we got back to our room to find a bottle of champagne and a personal note from staff. Impressive and thoughtful. They’ve earned our business.

Stayed here for a conference. Great accommodations, both for the conference and my room. The room itself was one of the best rooms I have stayed in for business. Plenty of space, very nice. Enjoyed the comfortable furniture and Kuerig. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay here again!

Last minute deal and ended up turning into a solo getaway weekend. Overall good stay, booked through Priceline name your own price and was pleasantly surprised in the room and amenities, including a mini fridge which is great for keeping breakfast stuff in. Quiet location on the west side of the resort, near the spa. Clean in general, but found mold in the Keurig because it had been left closed with water in it, a new one was promptly brought to the room with fresh mugs. Rooms could use more plugs for electronic device charging. Front desk and hotel staff pleasant and helpful :)
Spa was great, the staff went above and beyond when I needed assistance to find the right size in robes when I decided to purchase my own new one to take home after using the fabulous ones in the room and during my massage. Loved the relaxation areas/​mineral falls and tub/​sauna and steam rooms. Pretty much all of the spa staff was very pleasant, but my masseuse had the personality of a wet mop. Maybe he was tired and I was his last appointment at 5:00 (spa closes at 8), but the personality of the other masseuses I witnessed as they walked their clients out was way more positive. Good massage though, I was very relaxed!
Had the well being massage and dinner pack– will forego this the next time as the dinner at Charlie B’s was ok, nothing to write home about regarding the food, but the waitstaff was pleasant and nice. If I had to pay separately for the meal, I’d say everything was ridiculously overpriced! Just wished they hadn’t stuck me at an awkward table for 4 by myself right in the front of the restaurant, when they put a couple at the smallest table for 2 in the window area, lol. I’ll walk down the road to the other two restaurants across the street next time (like I did tonight!).
Grounds are large, beautiful to walk around and right on the golf course if you’re into golfing. Would like to experience some of the summer and winter activities at some point!
Will definitely look for package deals/​spa packages to come back!

This place is a dump! By no means a 4 star. Service was marginal at best, WIFI was weak, room was old, rundown, bed was awful, towels barely cover an average size adult. Parking lot has deep potholes, 4″ of slushy snow, mud everywhere.
The restaurant is much the same. I recommend you keep driving!

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, low and high end, but the service we got, specially from Sussie, was just incomparable.
I went with a group of friends and partner for a «short vaca» out of NYC. We had some idea of what we wanted to do, but found out the hotel offer a free vacation planner service. We spoke to Sussie about our plans, which didn’t seem much with all the apparent activities available. Sussie took it to heart and literally created an itinerary from dusk ’till dawn. This trip could not have turn out the way it did without her assistance. We are already planning to go back again.
The spa service was exceptional. We made no appointment, but they were able to somehow accommodate five of us even with a short staff.

I just wanted to take the time to write and say thank you for a fantastic stay Oct 17 – 20 2013, our anniversary.
Our room was wonderful and the room upgrade was a welcome surprise my wife was truly impressed!
We have raved about our stay since we got home and several of our friends are now looking at Stoweflake for their own getaways.
We are so happy to have found your resort and can’t wait to return!

We were on a road trip and stopped in the Stowe area to go to a few restaurants known for amazing beer selections. After most hotels in the area were booked, Best Western referred us to Stoweflake. I am so happy that we ended up @ Stoweflake.
The room was beautiful. We had a lovely view of the grounds (lots of plants and flowers that are well-​kept). The generous-​sized bathroom had the option of heated lights. The best part about the room was the fireplace. It actually got a bit brisk at night, so we were able to use the fireplace.
I can’t speak for the spa or restaurant, since we did not visit either spot in the resort. The general stay was wonderful though. I was especially impressed by the courtesy of the front desk staff. When we were checking out, one of the women even remembered our names. That meant a lot to us.
I know some people have spoken about the outdated décor, but I did not notice that at all. I thought that the hotel was nicely decorated. We had a lovely Andrew Wyeth print in our room (Christina’s World… one of my favorites).
I would stay here again in order to experience more of the hotel’s amenities. There’s also lots of cute little restaurants and stores in the area.
As a sidenote, there is a lovely outdoor area that looks perfect for weddings. I’ll post a picture too.

This past February, I attended a ski weekend winter retreat at the Stoweflake Resort. The retreat sponsors procured the resort as both the host hotel & conference facility for the event. All in all, everything was spot on. The facilities at Stoweflake are modern, spacious, and well-​kept… and the place was perfect for our retreat. I didn’t actually stay in one of the rooms (according to the pictures I saw on Unilocal!,the rooms looked a little too country for me, so I stayed in a resort that was closer to the skiing area)… but I went to Stoweflake every night for events they hosted as part of the retreat. I would also like to give a special shout out to the staff at Stoweflake – these folks are on top of their game! They were all super friendly and helpful in every way, and they helped make the weekend event a real treat for me and the other guests. Finally, one note of warning regarding one of the restaurantas at the Stoweflake – Charlie B’s. I went twice, and both times had just an okay experience. See my review on Unilocal!for this place… who knows, maybe things have improved at the restaurant… let’s hope!

I booked a couple of massages for my sister and I the day after Thanksgiving with a deal that I’d heard about on the radio. It was her 30^th birthday so it seemed like a fantastic treat for her. While she loved it as doesn’t get out much with two kids at home, I expected more from this spa which has won the 7 Days award for numerous years and was a little disappointed (but did not reveal that to her, of course).
First off, the waterfall pool was closed for maintenance but the desk staff did not mention this to us when we checked in, nor offer us a perk for it having been closed. I don’t expect a lot but a ‘have lunch on us’ would have been appreciated. It was a sign of the tone for the rest of the day.
The woman working the spa desk once inside was not terribly friendly. This was surprising. And I noticed little effort by her or others working in the ladies room to refill any of the supplies or clean up. For example, the cool hand towels and cucumbers on ice went unfilled for most of the time we were there. The massage itself was good but the room was far from comfortable — it felt much more cavernous and clinical. The mineral bath area that was opened had numerous empty cups and wet towels sitting there fro quite some time. And the towels were ratty on the ends! All in all, I expected more from a place that has such a positive rapport in our area.
Having been to TopNotch once previously, I had a much more refined experience there and will gladly return — Stoweflake, the verdict is still out, I’m afraid.
