Stowe Mountain Lodge

The Front Desk manager was extremely unprofessional when we learned that we were over charged for 2 rounds of golf at the Stowe Mountain Country club, which was booked by the concierge. We were quoted 132.00 per person but were charged 250.00. Our golf should have totaled 264.00 per round but we were charged 2060.00. The manager refused to accommodate us by adjusting the bill to the price we were quoted. He was very loud at the front desk embarrassing our family. The manager was the most unprofessional manager we have ever been in contact with. He didn’t show any compassion or understanding for our situation. We will NEVER go back to Stowe Mountain Lodge again!

Stowe Mountain Lodge knocks it out of the park! The lodge provides 5 star service and always holds the highest level of customer service.
Upon my first visit there was I was impressed immediately with how accommodating the resort staff was. The staff was eagerly awaiting to assist my boyfriend and myself with our belongings. The gentlemen that helped unload our belongings onto the luggage cart were pleasant and efficient. They happened to also make small talk with us regarding our shared passion of craft beer, it was great!
Once we got to our room, the staff escorted us inside and explained the different luxurious attributes of our suite. The first thing he listed that the floors were Brazilian marble throughout the entry way and the bathroom. He pointed out the kitchenette area in addition. My boyfriend and I were blown away by the knowledge and professionalism.
The location of the resort is perfect. It is tucked away in the perfect out cove in the bottom of the mountains. The view from the first floor rooms was great, I can only imagine the view from the higher floor rooms.
The amenities included pool, gym, spa, bar, game room for children, and the Mercedes Benz experience. The resort allows its guest to sign out one of the Mercedes Benz vehicles they have on site for two hours. In the two hours that the vehicle is in possession of the guest, the destination is the choice of the guest. My boyfriend and I chose to drive the E-​Class sedan opposed to the full-​size SUV, the GL 450. The staff had us fill out minor paperwork, provide a copy of our valid driver’s licenses, and gave us a brief tour of the car. We took the car to a few different destinations during our time with it. We did return our car about 20 minutes later than expected. We informed the resort of our dilemma and they were quick to understand and accommodate us. The staff was understanding and so very flexible, it made the experience that much more sweeter.
The in-​house restaurant serves up its share of delicious meals. The breakfast is served more on the buffet side, with omelettes prepared to order. The spread of delicious breakfast foods was incredible. Your first glimpse at the line of food was fruit and yogurt. Continuing down the line there was steel cut oatmeal paired with a variety of toppings and house-​made granola. The last section was the best section, plentiful in eggs, bacon, and sausage. At the end of the serving area was Challah bread french toast and maple syrup. I was in heaven! I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the eggs, they were lacking in flavor and were completely overcooked. The only downside to the restaurant is its limited hours of operation. Late night food is not an option, once the kitchen closes… it is closed until the next day.
My weekend spent at the Stowe Mountain resort was a wonderful experience. Between the staff, amenities, and service I was thoroughly impressed. I enjoyed every minute while being onsite, I high recommend you to consider staying there.

I chuckle and giggle when I think about this place. If I am having a bad day, I think of this place and instantly have happy thoughts.
Great service, great location, wonderful rooms and fantastic amenities.
My only negatives are: 1. The bed was Woeful! Horrible! Disgusting! It was 4 inches higher on one side than the other, which meant I kept rolling out of bed.
2. They charge a resort fee aka valet service. I was told it wasn’t a resort fee. If I don’t drive my car in and out for 4 days, it isn’t valet — it’s storage, security, facility etc aka resort fee.

A very cozy lodge with ski in and ski out access to mount Mansfield. The rooms are spacious and nice. Parking is 8 $ with valet. They also valet your ski equipment so make sure you call ahead for both to avoid waiting around. Lots of fireplaces and good in house restaurants.

Good mountain. Some of the slopes were a bit icy, but that seems to be the case everywhere these days. Overall there wasn’t much, and we got a bit of snow overnight and that was enough to make the second day great! Want to give a shout out to Austin from the Rental shop who came over to the Sports Shop and helped IMMENSELY with getting new bindings, including setting them up and dealing with my out of date equipment. It really made the entire weekend! Thanks to the staff, and especially Austin!

To preface this review I have not stayed here but my friend & I came here for their brunch one morning while we were in town for a girl’s weekend. This place is impressive and it’s where I wanted to stay but the rooms were booked up when I went to make a reservation. We ended up at the Trapp Family lodge which, although nice enough, doesn’t even hold a flame to Stowe Mountain Lodge. The brunch was great and the staff was incredibly accommodating — they essentially made myself and my friend our own custom meal, included in the buffet price, while still offering us full range of the buffet options. We both ordered omelettes and picked fruits and pastries from the buffet. They also made my friend a whole wheat pancake with chocolate chips and strawberries which she claimed was the absolute best pancake she ever had. Staff was also very friendly and very helpful. Next time I’m in Stowe, I am 100% staying here.

I came to Stowe with my consulting team for another retreat, and it was another spectacular experience! We took a little road trip from Mancester to get up this area, but it was a beautiful and scenic drive. Upon arrival, the lodge had amazing views of the mountains as you climb up to the resort. We were greeted with gift bags and keys to our rooms; rooms were very spacious with fireplaces and marble bathrooms. As I walked to my room, there was also an outdoor heated hot tub and a massive gym located downstairs. We also signed up for the zipline tours, where they provided transportation to and from the tour site. During our leisure hours we drove about 10 minutes to the downtown area, which was small but had a cozy feel to it. Overall, a great stay and very relaxing weekend —

Drive up and stop at the front door and all your stuff gets removed and loaded in to a cart.
Everything gets taken care of. Your skis go to valet and all you need to do is call as you are leaving for the slopes and they are waiting for you. Want your car call and it’s delivered promptly. When it’s time to leave everything happens in reverse.
The entire village is gorgeous with plenty of option for food and drinks.
We plan on making this an annual trip for sure. It’s great to get togather with friends and have a great time

The company that runs the resort and the ski lift are ran by two different companies, yet there 50 feet apart. With receipts in hand that it was paid for with two days of lift tickets, neither company could find it in there computers, I had to walk back and forth «it must be the other guys fault, go check with them». For 2 ½ hours before I finally said, I will purchase my own lift tickets, that’s when they finally agreed, because I had the receipt in hand to give me the lift tickets. Never seen anything so crazy.
Buyer beware.

Had a great trip! 2 kids loved the apres ski choices– laser tag, kids night out. Hung out by the fireplace petting dogs, eating local cheese and drinking hot cocoa. Rooms were very comfortable (except for the pull out couch which was the only bummer). Rooms had kitchenettes and fireplaces. So nice. We’ll be back!

I just want to update and drop another star. I left a review and the follow up, instead of thanking me for the actual great things I did say, I was only acknowledged for my one disappointment. I was told next time I visit I should see their concierge along with a list of things that I could have done. I want to follow up to that because I in fact did visit the concierge. The concierge was not helpful whatsoever. I asked if there were brochures of area activities or any insight of things to do. Not much of a response and there were no brochures. My husband laughed it off because it was the exact opposite you would expect from concierge and I was willing to just explore the town. I own a business myself and I just found it unprofessional for a director to respond to my review with immediate need to acknowledge and advise something that actually wasn’t as helpful as he says and doesn’t thank their guests for positive feedback.

My husband and I traveled to Stowe, VT for our recent honeymoon! We had the pleasure of staying at the Stowe Mountain Lodge. We arrived on Tuesday and basically had the whole place to ourselves (early season and no snow yet) but by Friday, this place was lively and filled with skiers, couples and families.
During the slower days, we (well, I) enjoyed the ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL spa, ate at the Hourglass bar (satisfying but not fabulous) and participated in their Mercedes-​Benz test drive program! This was awesome!!! We were able to take out 3 different models 4 separate times to get to town and dinners. No charge. No survey. Just a signed liability waiver and a copy of our drivers licenses. Take advantage of this!
We did not have the opportunity to dine at the hotel restaurant Solstice, except for breakfast, which was lovely.
Despite no snow in the forecast, Stowe Mountain had great skiing for the conditions and it was ski-​in, ski-​out!
All in all, a fun and romantic place to spend our honeymoon! The service was great, valet was excellent and housekeeping superb! And we will be back! Thanks Stowe Mountain Lodge!

We just checked out from a 5 day stay here for our honeymoon and we were very impressed! The construction was the only disappointment as we have 2 year old twins so sleeping late was something we were looking forward to. The staff was pleasant and everything was just perfect. Will definitely be coming back again! Although I think a discount should be offered during construction because some might reconsider their stay with so much noise.

We’ve stayed here countless times and can safely say this property excels on service like no other. From housekeeping to desk staff, to activity specific venues, everyone says a friendly hello and are there for anything you could possibly need. We’ve been here both summer and winter and the experience is again — consistently perfect.
The lodge was built some time ago, but the décor really has stood the test of time and still feels top shelf and luxurious.
The latest additions of the zip line and treetop adventure have made this a true year round destination. They are apparently working next on mountain biking trails and cannot wait.

Wow! What a nice place to stay! I came here for a meeting and was very impressed.
First off, the staff was very friendly. No matter who I encountered, everyone was pleasant and upbeat… and willing to lend a hand.
My room was awesome; very spacious and had a kitchenette. Plenty of room to stretch out and store things for my stay. The hotel itself is rather large. It’s a bit confusing to navigate at first, but you get used to the lay of the land after a few walks.
The fitness center was very nice; spacious, bright and new equipment. I didn’t get a chance to use the pool, but it looked nice.
The events area was excellent. The meeting rooms were set up nicely, staff was attentive and things went very smoothly. The food they provided was good as well. The view from the terrace was outstanding! We had two nice days and ate lunch outside both days; awesome.
It’s a few bucks to stay here and I’m sure it’s even more during peak season. But what a nice place to stay. I really enjoyed it.

This is our favorite place in the winter. We’re always treated very well. Staff is always attentive and friendly (minus 1 or 2 occasionally). From the moment we pull up to the front door we are immediately welcomed and greeted with a smile. Rooms are spacious. Yes, it is pricey, but we feel it’s worth it for the level of service that you get. Prices, however, have gone up quite a bit the last season. They’ve recently expanded, adding some new shopping, a café and dining area for lunch. I am hoping they also add some additional dining for dinner as sometimes it can be hard to get a table at the 2 restaurants on site when the lodge is fully booked.
The spa is very nice with a cozy relaxation room that has a view of the mountain. There is a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room area in each the women’s and men’s locker room. Even if you don’t have a service scheduled you can pay to use that.
The mountain is the best on the east coast for skiing and riding.
Tips: If you’re skiing or riding in the winter sign up for the Evolution Stowe Card for a discount on lift tickets. Get lunch at Cliffhouse on the top of the mountain. Make reservations for dinner ahead of time if the hotel is booked.

Nice place for skiers. Convenient. Food not so much. Such a beautiful place absolutely must update the food!!! i come here to eat and get massages. Lee had to drive to town to eat. But spa is excellent. I ski only on top of massage table lol. Excellent masseuses.

The lodge, rooms, staff, restaurants, décor… Everything here is divine.
Unfortunately, 1 word spoken in the hallway, or one barking dog, will wake you up at all hours of the night.
I came here to relax. I can’t even sleep.

Pretty disappointed for the price. The place was empty on a September Monday night and we got a room where you could barely walk between the bed and the bureau — it was tiny– and living in a tiny Manhattan studio for so long, this is the last thing you want in a luxury hotel room. Tons of construction being built behind the hotel, so out on the balcony — yep, that’s what you heard. Sorta like being in NYC.
We upgraded. Restaurant — burger was okay but of course expensive.
Fitness center was nice and pool area was as well. Very unfriendly service at check-​in and with the room issue. Fiancé said check-​out person was a lot nicer.
Housekeeper was so sweet and hope the very generous tip (I told my fiancé he was crazy at first) made her day!
Let down for a Destination Resort hotel at this high rating and price.

The Stowe ski area is divided into two main base areas — Mt. Mansfield, and Spruce Peak. Most people have this impression of Stowe as a super luxury (and pricey) ski resort. One look at the quiet main Mt. Mansfield base area and their small, rustic, Alta Peruvian-​esque ski lodge, and you’ll be thinking otherwise though.
…BUT, once you take a visit over to the newly renovated, Swiss-​themed Spruce Peak base area, you’ll see that THIS is how Stowe got that reputation!
The Stowe Mountain Lodge hotel is the cornerstone of the Spruce Peak base area, which also consists of the Spruce Camp Lodge (geared towards day skiers), some small shops, the Stowe ski school, and of course, the base area chairlifts. The hotel itself boasts a year-​round outdoor pool w/​two hot tubs, an apres ski-​friendly bar/​restaurant (Hourglass), quieter sit-​down restaurant (Solstice) to accompany their well-​appointed rooms.
When all the gears are spinning, Stowe Mountain Lodge would be an easy 5-​star resort, but to sum up my experiences: They charge New York City-​level prices for Nebraska-​level service.
MANDATORY $ 21 PER DAY VALET PARKING?! No thanks, I’ll park for free in one of the other three lots and walk my stuff over. Paying a daily valet rate where (a) parking is NOT at a premium, and (b) you car will likely be sitting there for days while you enjoy the ski on/​off and other slopeside amenities — is inexcusable. This isn’t Vail Pass people… this is Vermont!
OVERPRICED…EVERYTHING. From the spa to the two restaurants and beyond, the general theme here is to basically double the worth of whatever goods they’re selling. Drinks will run you $ 12-​$ 15 apiece, and sure, the mountain burger at hourglass is juicy, but for $ 16, it damn well better be! Oh yeah, and if you forgot your toothbrush, the front desk will be happy to provide you one… for $ 3.95. Really?! A Best Western hands them out for free.

I will say the rooms are impeccable though, and include washer/​dryers and fireplaces, however while most of the views boast «mountain» in them, you’ll be getting a nice handful of parking lot in there too… hey at least you can see where the free parking is :)
