Hob Knob Inn

Talking about wonderful service at a great price! You couldn’t ask for better innkeepers. The rooms were clean and plenty of room store ski gear, and a variety of options to pick from at the continental breakfast which is included with the room. Perfect place to crash on a ski weekend!

This place was great for what we needed it for. The nice fireplace and deck were both the best ways to help relax after fun filled days of biking, exploring, and eating at new places.
The lady at the desk was pleasant upon arrival and departure. The room was clean and didn’t have any hang time odor from previous visitors or age. The view was wonderful and the closeness to the downtown area was perfect.
The bed was firm. Really firm. They gave two options for pillows so that was nice. I just couldn’t get comfy though on such a firm mattress. Maybe that should be something I ask about next time. Hmmm.
The air flow situation seemed ok for us but my husband woke with a headache both days. Not sure what that was about.
People are also allowed to have dogs (plus for dog owners, minus for non-​owners). If you have allergies you may want to ask about being put in a non-​pet room and also cross your fingers that the neighbors dog doesn’t bark at night.
If you don’t bring your own shampoo and conditioner you may want to ask for more. Their complimentary bottles are enough for a thinning man’s short hair. Thankfully I brought my own for my medium length hair.
The continental breakfast had good options but the lady bussing tables was behind so I had to steal a spoon from one table and left over napkins from a table that hadn’t been cleaned. Might be helpful to have a selection of all utensils and such laid out somewhere with the food if need be to help both patron and busser.
Overall, great place but expensive for what they were offering. It’s all in where they are located and since they are in Stowe, they can get away with that price.

Very nice folks, pretty lodge. I was pleased with everything, except that we were unable to control the A/​C from our room. When I called the desk I was told it was controlled remotely and I should open the windows if it was too warm. That option being neither safe nor effective, our room stayed warm and stuffy and we couldn’t control the temperature or fan at all. I need a fan to sleep and so could not sleep well.

visiting Stowe for the first time and made reservations to eat at Hobb Knob. The waitress was absolutely wonderful knew exactly how to wait on a table and had the most pleasing personality. Thought that was great then the food started coming… Best hot bread ever, incredible French Onion Soup and the one hell of a ribeye!!! Everything was just perfect. This is a must visit.

We’ve been traveling to Stowe for many years and somehow have never tried the Hob Knob. When I think of all the great meals we’ve missed! The food quality and portions are excellent. I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was beautifully charred on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. My wife ordered the NY Strip special that was topped with bacon and bleu cheese. It was fantastic. The spinach salad with warm maple vinaigrette dressing is to die for. This family-​owned and operated Inn and restaurant features friendly service that matches the quality of the food. The service is attentive and accomodating without being pretentious. The dining room is tastefully decorated with a definite Vermont flair and features a beautiful view out its many windows. Our son is now going to school at Saint Michael’s in Vermont, so we are looking forward to many great meals at the Hob Knob Inn.

There are many choices of places to stay in Stowe, and this one is in the middle of the pack in quality with very reasonable rates. The rooms were clean and decently appointed, without being fancy or high end. The bed was comfortable, and the linens and sheets had no smell to them, which I appreciate, as I dislike perfumed detergents. I liked the fact that the building is far off the road, so the place has a nice private feel to it. This is a casual family run establishment, with the owner’s cute children «helping» in the dining room for breakfast, and a rather odiferous dog wagging his tail behind a gate as you check in. I mention these things because some people will not be charmed by them, and some have allergies (to dogs, not to children). The place has a rustic, lived in feel, and is surrounded by woods. I don’t think anyone used the pool during our stay, but it looks nice enough, and, had the weather been warmer, I would have gone in. Breakfast is self serve and basic. Overall, a decent place to stay.

I haven’t been there in a while. So I decided to go back after a number of years. The food and atmosphere are as good as I remember. The wait staff was great.

This review is for the restaurant, not the inn. This is one of our favorite spots in Stowe. All the entrees are excellent, especially the charred steaks. As good as some of the best steakhouses in NYC. Service from the Owners shows a great respect and care for the guests. We highly recommend!

Place was great! The staff was super helpful and for the price you can’t beat it!

Upon arrival, we kind of fell in love with the place. Our room was nice and large with a nice view, fireplace, and comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and had nice, fluffy towels. The included continental breakfast was very good — included breads, mini muffins, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee/​tea. They also had an a la carte option each morning we were there, which I took advantage of! It was $ 5 for eggs with sausage/​bacon, and the portions were PERFECT. Not huge or too small… just perfect. I loved that the inn is located on a hilltop close to trails and the main town areas. Also, the hot tub was a nice treat after a day of hiking up Smuggler’s Notch to Sterling Pond.

This year is our second visit to the Hob Knob Inn.
Located half way up the road to Stowe, the location is pretty convenient. The rooms are decent. Staff is great. Very welcoming and very helpful.
Breakfast here is simple but just right. I am not a fan of eggs, but every morning there is an egg alternative — pancakes, waffles, french toast. And totally yummy bacon.
If you are looking for a good, basic, comfortable base to stay in during your ski vacation the Hob Knob is a good choice.
