Specialties

1) George specializes in helping people uncover their food hypersensitivities which can cause a myriad of inflammatory issues such as migraines, fibromyalgia, fatigue, IBS, arthritis, and autoimmune to name a few. (Often MRT testing is used for food sensitivity screening to create a personalized anti-​inflammatory diet.)

2) We also specialize in digestive disorders as we believe without proper digestion the body cannot heal. We successfully treat colitis, IBS, IBD, Crohn’s, gluten sensitivities, food intolerances, bloating, gas, constipation etc.

3) All aspects of maternal care from infertility, to pregnancy and postpartum followup. We believe in helping couples conceive healthy babies and have healthy pregnancies and postpartum.

History

Established in 2008.

Joy and George Mandler formed Assabet Valley Natural Health (AVNH) in Maynard, MA when they moved their respective practices from Brookline and Cambridge to the metro west area. Both had successful practices in the cities around Boston before moving in 2008.

We merged our practice in September 2011 with Dr Linda Reynolds and changed our name our business name from Assabet Natural Health (AVNH) to «Integrative Wellness».

George practices at Integrative Wellness in Stow (Tue, Thurs, Fri, Sat) and OM NAMO Yoga in Cambridge (Weds)

Business Owner

George Mandler is a co-​founder of Integrative Wellness and is deeply committed to the understanding of health and healing. He has successfully treated patients for a range of ailments, though he specializes in the areas of digestive disorders, fatigue, maternal care, endocrine issues, fertility and pain management for the neck, shoulders and lower back.

George is a NCCAOM nationally certified Diplomat in Oriental Medicine as well as a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist. He is a Massachusetts Licensed Dietitian and Licensed Acupuncturist. He has earned Master’s degrees from the New England School of Acupuncture (Oriental Medicine), University of New Haven (Nutrition), and Boston University (Engineering). George is also a faculty member at the New England School of Acupuncture where he teaches Western nutrition, Chinese nutrition therapies and community education classes.

George believes that our own bodies have the natural ability to heal if simply given what they need to do so.

George has been helping me with nutrition now for the past few months and I’ve got to say I feel like a different person than when we started. I came to him with near constant heartburn, fatigue, stress and sleep issues. George helped me to determine the foods that were causing my symptoms and replace them with foods that helped me rather than run me down. The dietary changes took some time to adjust to but it’s been completely worth it. My heartburn is gone, my stress is much more manageable and I’m sleeping far better. I highly recommend George.

A one stop shop for holistic prenatal (and otherwise) care, I first met George for acupuncture to help me deal with second trimester fatigue. His skills aren’t limited to just that. His practice also includes nutrition and Chinese herbal medicine and his breadth of knowledge informs his treatments. He made me feel infinitely better and helped make a difficult pregnancy managable.
I also worked with his wife, Joy, for shiatsu and reiki energy work to help me clear out a few emotional demons prior to delivery. She is a bright light in this world. The support she gave me through the pregnancy illustrated to me that I could have no one else as my doula. She is one of those people whom you meet and always want as a part of your life. Both of them are.
As a home birth doula with a very unique skillset she exceeded what I needed during my long labor. Always positive, upbeat, and encouraging; with her help I was able to have a completely unmedicated birth. Plus, she became indispensable as a resource for other pregnancy needs — midwife recommendations, childbirth classes, post partum doulas, etc.
These days I trust this pair more with my health and wellbeing than anyone I’ve worked with, and they make me feel like family every time I see them.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

It has been eight weeks since I started LEAP and I have lost 16 pounds and countless inches. More importantly, I am now off of ALL of the medications that I have been taking for rheumatoid arthritis. I am drug free for the first time in over 16 years and I feel amazing! I am 4.5 months out from when I first started working with George. He truly helped me out of the inflammation crisis! I now follow the Autoimmune Paleo Diet and it has successfully helped me manage this disease. Valuable lessons learned from George: 1– Less is more! He has had to remind me this many times. This includes supplement use. 2– I need to eat rotationally. 3– He has helped me pinpoint which foods I need to be extra cautious about and only eat once a week. 4– This is not a lesson, but an appreciation. He still lets me e-​mail questions even though our paid time is up and has e-​mailed me to check in. George has helped my condition so much more than modern medicine. Turns out, food IS medicine and George is a healer. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

After starting on my new diet, I immediately felt a dramatic change: an enormous increase in my energy level, improved clarity of thinking, and improved digestion. I’ve now been on my new diet for well over a year, and have noticed that I get sick far less frequently and my headaches have almost disappeared. I began seeing George for acupuncture while pregnant and was looking for help with having a healthy birth and maintaining my blood pressure. George was always an oasis of calm in what felt like a very hectic time (ha, now with a 2-​yr old, I know better). My birth went smoothly and my blood pressure was under control. George managed to always fit my appointments in, coordinated with my weekly hospital ultrasounds, to help me calm down before hand. He was a huge help to the successful birth of my child and I can unequivocally offer my recommendation of his treatment and abilities, especially since I have other acupuncturists with which to compare.
