A hidden gem. An absolutely first rate Turkish restaurant — hiding in very unpresuming quarters. With a name like Chicken Kebob and with their minimalist very modest storefront — you think you are going to get the standard ho-hum cheap gyro joint. Nope. The first sign that you are in for a treat is that they have grilled liver chunks for an appetizer. Serving grilled alt meats is the sign of a real turkish place that is not watering down the food to pander to an American audience. They are serving the real stuff. We did a meal of all appetizers with the grilled liver chunks, fried calamari, and the house lentil soup. All of these came with the house grilled bread — which is a treat all by itself. This is a thick full hunk of bread and not a pita. The bread itself has tremendous taste — and the char makes it better. Technically, it is white bread, but this is white bread that commands total respect. They could have served me a meal with just the basket of bread and a bucket of paint to dip it in and I would have been happy. (I would have skipped the paint.) The servings of liver, calamari and soup were huge. Each of these was a full meal in themselves. The liver was a destination dish. The liver itself was very mild.(I am guessing it was soaked in something like milk before broiling). It had a tremendous bread coating, and was grilled beautifully. The final result was like a superior alternative to grilled kifte. The massive amounts of liver are matched with massive amounts of piping hot fresh off the flame grilled tomato, onions and peppers. I was in heaven. The calamari was first rate.(although to be frank, there is a lot of fine fried calamari in Boston. I do NOT get fine fried calamari in Texas.) The vegetarian at the table gave two huge thumbs up to the lentil soup. I consider this place to be a lucky discovery. If I lived anywhere near Stoughton, I would eat here as much as I could.

Came here for a small salad with chicken. Every thing was fresh. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy, and the chicken had been cooked while I waited and was done perfectly. The portions are large and you definitely get your money’s worth! I also got the pistachio Baklava. It was delicious and flaky, however, I wish it was served warm, and there was too much syrup on the bottom. I will say that I got it on a Sunday evening, so perhaps it would have been less saturated in syrup and warmer if I had gone in earlier. I will definitely go back, and definitely try out more items on the menu!

Bread baked to perfection. Chicken kebabs, that melt in your mouth. Huge serving size. So far the best middle eastern food I ever tried. Boston visit is not complete without this.

So, the place doesn’t look like it would be any good. Menu on the wall, and it could be a bit cleaner. But the food, from the baked bread to the entrees, was quite good and plentiful. The chocolate baklava desert was delicious. I’m knocking them down a star because the guy working just went somewhere else for fifteen or twenty minutes when we were going to pay. That was quite an inconvenience.

Delicious. We ordered lamb, and chicken and it was great. Let me not forget the bread, yummy. The service was excellent and the portions are very generous.

The food here is amazing. Always hot, fresh, delicious, and the portions are insane! My husband and I get one order of the mixed grill and can easily stretch it into 2 — 3 meals for the BOTH of us. Absolutely one of our favorite take out places. The owner and chef is so incredibly nice too… he always loads me up with complementary desserts. If you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine this restaurant will NOT disappoint!

Update/Upgrade review to five stars. I’ve come back a few times since and this place never misses. In fact I think the only reason I had given 4 stars previously was because the interior is really nothing to write home about. But there are 5 star hot dog stands and food trucks with no sit-down dining and after all, its really about the food, right? I’ve been getting the Gyros recently and they are in fact, the best! Originally I wrote that they were just good. But if you like lamb Gyros then you have to try this one. Be forewarned though, it’s very messy and tough to eat and that’s not a criticism! It’s just so overflowing with goodness that you will need extra napkins! Bread: pillowy, lamb: tender and cucumber yogurt sauce: delicious!

I got the signature Chicken Kabob dinner and the Mrs. got a Chicken Kabob salad. Both of us were very impressed with both the flavor/quality of the meals as well as the quantity. The sauteed greens were savory and cooked perfectly, and the chicken was tender and delicious. We got an assortment of baklava to take home for dessert, but were full enough they had to wait until the next day to sample. They’d gone a little soft by then, but still were tasty.

THISPLACEISDELICIOUS. Having spent a month in Turkey last summer I’ve been craving somewhere with all of the real Turkish flavors and this place has it. Outstanding falafel(crispy on the outside, moist and crumbly on the inside), huge fresh shepard’s salad, and their lentil soup had wonderful spices. Very cheap for the quantity of food, and just generally genuine. Atmosphere is nothing fancy but the gentleman running the restaurant was very sweet and a great host. Highly recommend!

I was headed to IKEA when I got the hunger pains. This place was the first to pop up on Unilocal so I thought I’d go with it and have chicken kabobs. My wife also ordered a falafel appetizer. I was a little shocked at the prices…$ 13 – 14 for a kabob platter which was a bit more than I wanted to pay for lunch. But when the food came out I was pleasantly surprised. #1 the taste of the food is amazingly good. #2 the portions are HUGE. You definitely need a to go box or two. The old man who runs the shop and cooks was the only one there on a Sunday afternoon. Service as a result can be a bit slow but it’s worth the wait. I highly recommend you try the place if you’re anywhere in the vicinity of the restaurant.

The food is as generous as his love to feed us. The man can cook. I understand he does it all and(so far as I eat/travel through his menu), he does it very well. The food is varied and the seasoning appropriate for each dish; I do like how the sumac travels through many of them. My favorites are the bean soup and the stuffed eggplant(but I’m still exploring!) but my SO has decided on the chicken kebab(sandwich or plate), moussaka, and chicken soup(just so very happy with these). We often go home with the leftovers from our meal as well as another entrée for ‘later’. The place is very simple inside and out. The exterior would never bring in anyone and does not reflect what is offered inside(pictures of spaghetti and french fries?!). The interior is similarly uninteresting but clean. The posted menu is confusing and overwhelming given so many categories. It’s also unclear if you should order at the counter or seat yourself.(Note: if you are eating in, grab a menu and find a place.) Service varies — be prepared. He is always here but his ‘staff’ is a sole, really great waitress(as well as take-out order taker, take-out packer, cashier, etc.) but when she’s out, it’s up to him to do it all. Also, most of the food is made ahead and either reheated or on a steam table — necessary given the restaurant model. We have always gone for lunch(with an additional take-home dinner) and it’s been very tasty. Bottom line, the food is great as well as generous. He gives far too much food for each order and will often even give a side or dessert ‘just because’. I hope he is making something for himself because he should be charging twice as much or give half of what he does.

Great experience here! Everything from the food to the service exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was very friendly, kept our waters full and checked in often. We started with the lemon egg and chicken soup, dipped in their homemade bread, amazing. I had the falafel sandwich on pita and my husband had the chicken sandwich on pita, they were both served with a generous side of tzatziki. Our entire lunch was $ 20 which is such a great deal for the amount and quality of the food! Regretting my decision not to take home some of the delicious baklava, will for sure next time. Can’t wait to return, wish it was closer to home!

3.54127 Stars In Eastern MA, there seems to be a Turkish cadre of really good Mediterranean food. Never been to Stoughton? Well you have a reason now. Especially if you like Doner kabob(and kabobs in general). The menu is huge some of this is due permutations of combinations. Meat lovers and vegetarians alike will be pleased here(can’t vouch for how vegan they are). Most of the staples of Turkish/Greek/Middle East are represented in that extensive menu. Personally I tend to order too much because I have tough time narrowing it down. The owner is a nice person and he is a top Chef. Service is slow but I’m not annoyed by that, the product is high quality. The seating is ample but I’d guess most customers take-out. * parking: right out front but you have to be there off hours. * it is a busy intersection, a crossroads to Boston and points south, avoid peak times. * Standouts: Falafel, Spinach/Kale pie, Bulgar Wheat, Rice Pilaf, Doner, Lamb, Chicken. * Several versions of Baklava.

This was one of those places i found on Unilocal when i was graving for kabobs with all the good reviews from Unilocalers. The first time i tried this place i drove all the way from Providence on a Friday night just for the kabobs and true to the reviews it is definitely worth it. The kabobs are fresh, juicy and of course tasty. They have a huge selection which is very great for such a small place. The gyro sandwiches are definitely a hit. The chicken egg drop lemon soup is a must try if you are at this place. The mixed grill platter is a good option if you wanted to try all the varieties of kabob in one go and is good for 2 people. The baklava’s are good. If you wanted to stay awake all night or if you are going to have a long day at work then definitely try their turkish coffee. They give you in a small cup but is super super high on caffeine and will keep you awake all day. This place is definitely my to-go place for kabobsss!!!

Oh my, I had to try this because of all the positive reviews. We walked in and we were overwhelmed by the menu. I think it’s way too much stuff for such a small place, but that aside I’m only going to review my experience and what we had. I was skeptical. We kept it simple and ordered a chicken kabob wrap and baklava to split. It was larger then expected. The wrap bread was so good and toasted up crispy, but did not fall apart. The lettuce, onion and tomato was so fresh. The chicken was cooked nicely with grill lines and the seasoning is delicious The dipping yogurt sauce was light and awesome. I’m giving it 5 stars because I’m planing my next visit already. oh yea, the baklava was stupid good.

This Turkish Kebab Shop is delicious! I have been twice within a 3 day span and each time I have spent more than an hour just sitting in the shop enjoying the company of the lovely shop owner and chef. He is a one man show that makes incredible good and he is so kind. The first time I came in mid-day, he sat down with me and ate with me and asked about my day. It was such a kind genuine gesture. People do not do things like this anymore. I will be a regular at this shop and continue to tell friends and family to go here! You will not regret coming here!

Of the Mediterranean food places I have tasted, this tops the chart by far, not only because it is good, but also because the portions are large and the price is very reasonable. We were greeted by a jolly server(I didn’t ask if he happen to be the owner as well) who felt more like a friendly host at home than an overly-eager waitstaff in restaurants. The bread they served at the start of the meal was warm, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It stayed this way for hours after we packed the remainder home. We were served a whole loaf even though we were just a party of two. What’s even more amazing was how they managed to keep it fresh and warm despite being a small establishment with only sporadic customers strolling in on a slow sunday afternoon. The falafel we ordered was nothing to shout about, but for $ 6.00, we definitely ate more than we bargained for. The hero of the dish turned out to be the hummus, which was dense, flavorful, and easily elevated by the olive oil found on every table. The highlight was without a doubt the mixed grill($ 17.95), which features lamb shish, chicken kebab, gyro, and several other minced meat items. The last thing I expect from a dish of Mediterranean grilled meat is juiciness, but Chicken Kebob definitely delivered on this front. The chicken and lamb shish were grilled to perfection, with a juicy center and pink interior respectively. The gyro had a nice char while retaining its chewy tenderness. The grilled vegetables deserve a special mention too for cutting the richness of the dish with crunch and slight acidity. Every single element on the dish was executed with finesse, which is something I rarely see in dishes that cost twice or even three times the price nowadays… They have a large selection of desserts including the well known bak lava. I am no dessert connoisseur, but what I had was definitely a beautiful conclusion to what was perhaps the best mediterranean meal I have had in a long while. It is refreshing to dine at a place that serves food that is value-for-money with no compromise on the quality and quantity. I highly recommend it!

This place is a gem and so far everything I’ve tried is DELICIOUS. But I have to say that their chicken kabob is the BEST I have had in the area and I’m quite picky. The food portions are awesome. Even for the hungriest people. The food is halal too! The people who work there are super nice and sweet and provide a welcoming atmosphere. The place is small but has room for about 20 ppl. But its not always crowded. We’ve done both takeout and pickup and I suggest you order while you’re here. unless you are clear exactly what you want OR order online so your order is clear. Totally recommend this place!

Passing through STOUGHTON and came across this place where I saw pita sandwich special $ 4.99 in the window– after looking at other reviews, knew I had to stop. AMAZING lamb gyro and small Greek salad with chicken — portions are insane, owners nice and food is delicious!

Everything is so fresh here, the crispy falafel balls with their herby centers, the fluffy pita bread, hot super-lemony chicken egg soup. The soup!!! And I know this might be taken for granted but really appreciate the freshness and juiciness of the tomato and lettuce slices in the pita wrap/sandwiches. The lamb gyro slices were so juicy. To top it off, the baklava desserts were freaking delicious, layer upon delicate layer of phyllo goodness and yummy things like pistachio, coconut flakes, or walnuts. Doesn’t hurt that the baklava portions were so generous, three large pieces! Really nice clean place, I’ll definitely stop by here first before or after hitting any of the nearby shopping destinations.
