Stumbled upon this place while in stony brook when I decided I needed a quick trim. How lucky was I that Danielle had a few minutes to fit me in! The place is so charming and warm. My hair looks and feels amazing! Please do yourself a favor and check this place out. I’ve been burned (literally and figuratively) by salons before; I cannot wait to go back next month to get highlights from a REAL professional.

The only thing I like about this salon is the interior design. The salon is absolutely beautiful inside. And the customer service is not terrible either.
But here’s the thing. I absolutely hated my hair cut. I’ve gone to J. Michael’s three times and every time was a disappointment. Either my bangs came out too short (which was a nightmare) or it came out too short/​uneven.
I’ve also gotten my hair colored here. Not terrible but to be honest, just go somewhere else. The brown color didn’t really show and they tried to convince me to look at the my hair under the light. Overall it wasn’t worth the money.

This salon is a hidden gem across from the Stony Brook Railroad. I came here because I stopped someone the gym with a great haircut NS she told me to try it out. Prices are great and the colorist stylist is current. I use Danielle and she always listens to exactly what I want. I would highly recommend this place.
