Tony’s Imported Tile

Huge shout out to Tony’s tile shop which exceeded my expectations yesterday. Great customer service, helpful consult, great choices, price competitive with Home Depot and online sources. Consider going on a Friday night — no one there, open til 8:00! Rich was enormously helpful.

The staff is very helpful, both with technical questions and input on aesthetics. The quality of materials is very good. Having two late closing days really helped. What I thought would be an overwhelming experience was actually fun.

This is our second renovation, using Tony’s for tile. Karen was exceptional. We did end up getting a much higher end tile (marble) than we had budgeted for but shame on us for being suckers for beauty. :) From a customer service standpoint, Karen was the best. We were dealing with four other vendors, (custom cabinets, bathroom fixtures, etc), and she was, by far, the most responsive and knowledgeable. That, to me, is worth the money. Tony’s also usually has everything in stock, which is rare. Don’t be fooled by the smaller storefront… They have a warehouse a mile away.
My only complaint was with the marble subway tile. We had to wait a few extra days to get enough from the same lot but when it was installed, it definitely wasn’t from the same lot. Tiles from some boxes were 1/​16″ off. It made the tiling job a bit of a nightmare.
I’m not sure why the previous reviewer said she had an issue returning excess tile. Perhaps it was custom cut? You can absolutely return any extra, except tile you have custom cut for a bull nose edge, etc.

When my husband and I first entered Tony’s we were pleased with the selection. Brian helped us see our options and was helpful when we told him what we wanted. When placing our order for backsplash tile we very clearly asked if we would be able to bring back the extra if there was any. We were assured by Brian that «yes» we would bring it back. Both my husband and I were there and heard this.
Today I went to bring back the extra — and after my 9 month pregnant self and my toddler brought the tile to the counter we were told that «no», we would not be able to get money back on the extra. I’m extremely disappointed and feel that we were tricked into buying more than we needed based on our measurements and being told we would be able to bring it back.
Tony’s selection is nice, but I’m so disappointed with the customer service and the way I was treated today that I would not go back or recommend it. (They didn’t even offer to help me carry it!!!) There are many other tile stores out there — go someplace that doesn’t change policies on you!

After choosing a beautiful tile for my backsplash from a sample provided @ Tony’s Tile I then had the tile installed by a man recommended by them who was great. Unfortunately once the tile was installed it took on an ENTIRELY different color which does not match my kitchen… not even a little! I complained to Rich and said I wanted the manufacturer to come and view the EXTRAORDINARY difference in color and was told that they generally don’t do that – well I thank them for my hideous backsplash and I feel I should’ve been warned by Tony’s Tile that once installed that a tile can take on COMPLETELY different colors than the sample provided by them. I’ve used Tony’s Tile in the past for kitchen/​bathroom floors and had no problem. BEWARE of ALL samples that have a mix of colored glass & stone as they MOST LIKELY will NOT look like their original samples!!! I now have to either live with it for a while or rip it all down… WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT — the ONLY good part of the whole experience was discovering a fantastic tile guy named Joe Dimino!!!

I went to Tony’s Imported Ceramic Tile in Stoneham AFTER already spending an hour and half at National Tile in North Reading picking out tile for four rooms in our new home. I wish I had just gone to Tony’s in the first place. They truly saved me when National Tile randomly closed down for a week long vacation at the exact time that I needed to put my order in.
Tony’s has an absolutely beautiful selection of tile. I worked with Brian who is extremely knowledgeable and has a great eye. He was able to help me quickly recreate all of the tile choices I had already made and offered me some great improvements as well. I went in knowing what I wanted but really appreciated that Brian showed me what he would choose as well. Like I said, he has a great eye and I couldn’t be happier with what I got.
My tile came in quickly and everything went off without a hitch. Shop them first, you won’t regret it.

My issues have been resolved so returning this to a higher rating.

I regret that I must amend my original review and reduce my rating due to a situation that I’ve been trying to come to some sort of a resolution /​compromise on since August. I ordered fireplace stone in August based on a sample. What came in was entirely different. The best analogy I can give is ordering a pair of new winter white pants and receiving a pair of dirty leopard pants. The contract was, indeed, striking.
Needless to say, I did not accept the order. But as of December, I’ve seen no sign of credit on my AMX — and that’s to the tune of $ 2,193. Needless to say, my initially good experience is souring by the day, week and month. Not cool.

I admittedly don’t like working with all home improvement vendors and can be pretty critical. But I LOVE Tony’s Tile, where superb customer service is a well-​practiced art.
My husband and I are currently trying to tackle tile and stacked stone for an entire house so not trivial. Working with Tony’s — and with Kerry specifically — has made it all seem doable without compromising on style (and easier than doing a single bathroom with «another tile place in Danvers»). What’s more, it’s great that many of the items are in stock so it’s quick to get started and feasible to return surplus.

When my wife told me we were going to look at tiles one afternoon I tried my best to schedule a last minute root canal or colonoscopy. I mean if it was just one room then I would have been cool, but we were looking for tile selections for an entire house. All I can say is that the salesperson, Kerry, made the whole ordeal as painless as possible. She was very organized in walking us thru are selections. Moreover, she actually had a real good eye with colors, was very conscious of our budget, and took great notes. I thought I would tune out, but it was a positive experience overall!

What’s awesome about Tony’s is that they actually have everything you see. So you go there, find something you like, then buy it and take it with you. Terrific store!

How is it possible that I am the first person to review Tony’s! This place is unbelievable! We recently had to renovate our master bath and had a terrible time trying to find a tile that we loved. Someone suggested we visit Tony’s Tile and were were so glad we did. Beautiful Italian tiles at reasonable prices.
The set-​up makes it very easy to see coordinating tiles, not to mention they have several actual displays of installed tiles so you are not just looking at tile in a box. This makes it very easy to visualize how a tile might look, or to get ideas. We liked one display so much, we actually chose that tile, and borrowed their color scheme for the vanity and granite countertop! Thank you Tony’s for making the biggest decision in out bathroom renovation so much easier!
