Overpriced. Went here a couple of times, but never going back. Anyone who knows tacos knows this is not a good deal.

Good food for take out. Always takes longer than you think it should.

This is combined with the take-out part seafood shop next door which is a little confusing. So I’ll give the same review for both: However the food was delicious. My brother got the quesadilla which was really yummy, he got the chicken one which i highly recommend. I ordered the tamale with the green tomatillo sauce which I was really looking forward to. When I opened it up there was no green sauce on it, so I took a bite to see if it was inside, but it still wasn’t inside. I think they just forgot to put it on, but without it the meal was just super average. The tacos were very good as well, specifically the chicken one

Delicious food! I’ll definitely be back in the next few days for another chicken burrito– fresh ingredients and perfect seasoning. The guacamole was perfect– they gave us a ton! The chips were too salty though. It was done right on time and the service was friendly. The kitchen looked clean too. If you’re a big a Mexican food fan as I am, definitely check this shop out!

Pork burrito was really good. Fish tacos were ok, too small for lunch tho.

Oh how i hate to give this a 2 star. I’d love to give it 4 stars and if they can fix their seasoning problems, i would. Was good but could be so much better if they spiced it up more. The seasoning was bland but easily fixed. I enjoyed my fish tacos. They were very fresh tasting. Most tacos I’ve ordered at other places from California, Mexico and on the East Coast give you 2 soft corn tortillas per fish taco or a fried corn tortilla which helps to keep them from falling apart from the salsa juices. Here it was only one. Tasty though. The chicken tamale while good needed more salsa verde and again the meat could have used a boost in seasoning. The burrito was a nice size and could have been super but again a major lack of spice and seasoning. If they would just up the seasoning and spice a lot across the board the food would be slammin’! So come on taco shop, trust in your great ingredients and get the seasoning boosted! You do that and I’ll definitely sing your praises!

We stopped by here on a Saturday for a late lunch to eat before heading home. I tend to agree with the other reviews, it wasn’t bad but it was not terribly memorable either. The Fish tacos were a bit bland but everything tasted fresh. The Carne Asado was much better and had much more flavor. They have Mexican sodas also. We sat outside on the benches, there is no seating inside. The Taco Shop pretty much caters to take out customers. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed sitting outside. The Taco Shop is also cash only.

We had heard good things about the taco shop from friends and decided to try it. The fish tacos were somewhat bland but the chicken and steak tacos were very good. Since there is no place to eat inside i suggest eating on a nearby bench or table in the court yard on 97th street. Otherwise the corn tortillas will be too soggy when you get home. The guacamole was excellent. Overall a good experience but be prepared for a pricey meal.

Overpriced and not so good. Corn tortillas are falling apart by the time you open your to-go container. Safe bet is to go with burrito if you are going to hit this place up. Kind of a shame – because the to-go taco concept can really work on the island… This place is simply taking advantage of the fact that people have no choice but to spend $ 7 dollars on an a la carte taco if their in the mood for Mexican.

Huge disappointment. Dinner for 8 plus kids included chips and guac, fish tacos, burrito, quesadillas(chicken and crab) with rice and beans and corn as sides. Fish tacos were tasteless and small portions. Chips tasted cheap and mealy, crab quesadilla was also flavorless. Guac was good, beans and rice were good. What a bummer — so much potential.

Such a disappointment! We’ve been meaning to try The Taco Shop out since last season but never made it, therefore it was high on my list of places we need to get to this summer.(We did eat at Quahog’s last year and were pleased.) We ordered two orders of fish tacos, one chicken quesadilla(they don’t have shrimp quesadilla’s anymore but it is still on the menu) and a side order of guacamole. The mahi mahi inside the fish taco was fresh but not seasoned at all. The sauce was OK but put on sparingly and the salsa was mediocre at best. Could have used some extra flavors or cole slaw to add some life to them. The chicken quesadilla was just ok. Food was overpriced for the serving size. The quacamole was very good.

I have to agree with previous posts that the flavors are underwhelming. The blandest taco I ever ate. I had fish tacos. The ingredients were fresh. The corn tortilla also broke apart and they are small, more like a $ 2 taco than $ 4.

I was looking forward to trying this place out and was kinda disappointed. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and the grilled plantains. The quesadilla was gross. The shrimp were fresh and cooked well, but it was filled with so much(too much) processed cheese. It was greasy and impossible to pick up and eat. It was served with a less than ordinary pico de gallo. The grilled plantains on the other hand were delicious. I will probably come back, but try something else on the menu. If you want really good authentic(and inexpensive) Mexican food go to Taco Reindo in Philly.

I must say it was pretty good chips and salsa was tasty, but fish tacos were just«OK» over filled and gooey texture! This is connected with quahogs restaurant which was on diners drive ins and dives. I will go back though and try something different ;)

This little taco place is a hidden gem in the 3 mile island area. It’s right on the corner of 2nd ave and 97th street. They have a great selection of tacos, burritos and other flavorful goodies. The prices are a bit high but well worth the amount of flavor you receive. I got the al pastor tacos which are a marinate pork with corn, pico, and some cilantro. Very good the pork was tender and booming with flavor. I also got a side of rice and beans which was a good size but the flavor was a little bland compared to the tacos. The guacamole was rich and creamy and the chips were a hearty multigrain. A great place to come and enjoy Mexican food in Stone Harbor!

This little bundle of joy surprised the good gracious out of me! It’s in the back of a building next to Quahog’s Seafood, and it is absolutely delicious! They conveniently have menus outside so you can pick one up, sit on a bench, and decide what you want. You walk in and order at a counter where they also have napkins and plastic utensils for your taking. I got the Carne Asada tacos, rice and beans, and guacamole and chips. The tacos were outstanding. They were topped with tender, marinated steak, corn, onions, and served with limes. The corn tortilla fell apart a bit, but I can deal. The rice and beans were plain and simple, and they gave a pretty big portion of black beans on top of white rice. The guacomole was nice and fresh with lots of freshly chopped onion and tomato. It wasn’t spicy(I usually like some kick, but great for people that don’t like hot!), and it was nice and creamy. The chips they served with it were a multigrain type with a great crisp to them. The prices are a little out of the norm for a take out place, but highly recommended if you like flavorful Mexican food that’s fresh and fantastic. And it only took ten minutes for us to get our food! I definitely will revisit this little treasure when I’m in Stone Harbor. I almost forgot! Their bags are biodegradable =)
