The Reeds At Shelter Haven

After spending over $ 1,400 for a three night stay we came out to our new car which had been entrusted to the Valet to find the the sunroof had been left completely open. We never used the car the whole weekend, which meant it had been left like that since the day we arrived. Furthermore it rained and the car was completely flooded. The leather seats with puddles of water in them. We were not even offered towels to sit on for our 6 hour drive home. Management called us and offered to pay for a detailing and that was it. I had to ask for the Valet charges to be taken off bc they didn’t even offer that. Is a hotel who claims to be one of the nicest in Stone Harbor really that cheap and evasive? Yes. I have never been so unimpressed with a staff and furthermore management team as I was here. We will never be going back here after how this was handled by staff and management and I would urge other’s interested in this hotel to be very mindful of the poor management and obviously the valet services.

The rooms are great. However, the service is not 5 stars. The front desk attendant had to ask about everyone questions I had. There is no business center, gym, or continental breakfast (as advertised on their in room menu).

Worst Easter Brunch Ever!
We had brunch here last year as well but we figured they just had a bad year so we gave it another shot. That was a big mistake! In all honesty, we would have had a better experience at Perkins or Denny’s. The service was bad, the table was way too small, and the food was really really bad. The buffet line was long, everything was cold, most of the food was bland, and most items were completely out when you walked through the buffet.
I recommend a Wawa Sizzli over this place, or of course, good ol’ Uncle Bill’s!

Gorgeous deck and view which I visited twice on our visit to Stone Harbor. Once for drinks… I definitely recommend this. My teenage son loved his espresso and the vibe of this place! The 2^nd time we went for breakfast which was better than other places around. We’ll Definitely visit again on our next trip!

Great views and awesome outside seating, but terrible service! Took over 30 min for our some of first round to arrive and over a hour for the rest of the round– and one drink which was wrong. Food was slow, had to track down the waitress for the check and the whole check was wrong, with over $ 200 of drinks we didn’t order. And the waitress never apologized once. She was slightly surly and seemed generally annoyed with us. I’d still go back, just for the view, and order directly from the bar

Have been here a few times. Sat at the inside bar for drinks and some apps. Great drink selection. Foot is really good but the menu is a bit different and eclectic. The fries are awesome! The bartenders are friendly and chatty and fast! (Clutch for wanting a drink)
Been here for their outside brunch. Outside seating is cozy! Brunch is expensive, but what do you expect? Plus, you get ton of yummy food!

Just had an excellent lunch with outstanding service from our server Brianna. She was extremely engaging and made our lunch a very pleasant experience.

Had early dinner, we sat overlooking the bay Very nice view great service. My wife had the lobster Cobb salad that she loved and I had the tuna tartare. Everything was good I would highly recommend this place!!! Also some of the cocktails going by looked delicious.

My fiancé and I were fortunate enough to stay at The Reeds recently, and we were very pleased overall with our experience. Janice, the concierge, was the absolute sweetest. Actually, all of the staff we encountered were very nice and also very open to comments across the board.
The property is very nice and definitely on the higher end for what you typically find in the South Jersey shore towns. We kicked off our stay with cocktails on the patio overlooking the bay. There was definitely a funky bay smell wafting and loads of flies — not sure there’s much that can be done about these things (and I do understand that these types of conditions can easily come and go at the shore) but it would likely deter me from having a drink there again.
Our suite on the third floor overlooked the bay side and had a nice little deck, plus separate living room/​kitchenette and bedroom spaces. The kitchenette would really come in handy for a multi-​night stay. The bathroom was loaded with soft towels and nice toiletries (love that loofah mitt after a day on the beach!). I do wish the lights were a bit brighter in the bathroom. Also, the shades in the bedroom had to be pulled down completely if we didn’t want to be seen by people on the sun deck by the pool — I would have liked some sheer curtains or something so we wouldn’t have to choose between totally exposed or pitch dark.
The Reeds offers shuttles to the beach, which we declined as it is only a three block walk. At the beach, there are friendly young employees who will provide towels and cold water plus set up chairs and umbrellas. At the end of your visit they’ll take care of everything so all you really need to bring is your sunblock and a book. I felt totally spoiled by this service and loved every minute of it!
A night at The Reeds during the summer season is going to cost you, and I mean big time. Rates significantly drop in September (and even more so in the winter months). I wouldn’t mind treating myself to a quiet night at the shore during that time… here’s hoping my fiancé agrees!

Best of the best! I stayed here for work 3 days in March. Great hotel. Upscale and cutting edge. Clean. Fresh. Hardwood floors. Nice bar. Room service was delicious (small, expensive portions). Comfortable bed, pillows and desk area. Location was perfect. Close to beach, a pub, Wawa and other shops.
The view from my room was over the outdoor restaurant area and the bay. Could see the most amazing sunsets from my bed.
Would love to go back in the Summer — even if it’s for work!

Very nice upscale rooms ours had a fireplace. Check in was easy and staff was super friendly. Bed was super comfy and everything was clean.

I just spent a weekend at this great boutique hotel in Stone Harbor. My room was small but well designed with white fluffy sheets and beautiful hardwood floors and modern lighting. The pillowtop bedding was heavenly.
The small bar in the lobby had a cool vibe and prepared exquisite drinks. I had probalbky one of the best mohitos that I ever had. Appetizers were a bit pricey but not more than you would except at this type of hotel at the beach. I cant wait to go back again this summer.

We just had our wedding at ‘The Reeds’ this past March 29^th. I can’t even put into words how perfect our day was. From our beautiful complimentary suite before the wedding and the night of the wedding to the entire staff, most importantly Leslie Pastore the event coordinator. She went above and beyond her call of duty to make me happy, check on me constantly and made every little wish and desire happen without flinching. I felt like a Queen and the entire venue was my castle. Everyone kept saying how beautiful the wedding and venue was and how attentive the staff was. I could cry just thinking about how happy we were on our wedding day and how everything went just as we wanted. Words cannot express my gratitude to the ENTIRE staff of the Reeds for making our wedding so beautiful. Thank you again, we are so grateful.

Came here with my girlfriend for a weekend getaway, and what a wonderful escape it was! From the time we arrived, to the time we left, we were both happy and impressed with the service we received.
Our room was very nice with a view of the bay as advertised. Bed was very comfortable and the linens were clearly high quality. Shower was excellent as well.
But it didn’t stop there! All of the staff we interacted with were very pleasant and helpful. We came to happy hour at the bar in the lounge and received great service from Damon the bartender. He even recommended a few plays to see in the winter time since many of the places in the area were closed for the season.
Never did find the ice machine though… but if being unable to find the ice machine is the extent of my problems, I think I’ll be ok! I would recommend The Reeds to friends and family and I would absolutely return here.

This place seems to be getting some bad reviews, and Im not sure why. However, we have not stayed in the hotel, and that seems to be where the dissatisfaction lies.
We have been to Reeds multiple times, and have enjoyed every one of them. At first, it was tough getting in because every day seemed to have a wedding party, but that seems to have subsided.
We mostly go for drinks at the outside bar. Great view, right on the water. They have outdoor seating, which is well shaded if you dont want the sun on you. We have also gone for Father’s Day Sunday brunch. Now thats a sight. Literally a 12 foot table filled with deserts. You can get made to order omelets, waffles, pancakes, salmon… something for everyone. A little pricey, but nothing different from what you would expect a buffet to cost in any nice restaurant.
I havent gone for dinner yet, and we are looking forward to that. Will probably go in the off season when the crowds die down.

Called six months ago for a room for one night. Wife wanted to go for her birthday. Rude on the phone, but this is what my wife wanted. Room was outrageously pricey, but this is what my wife wanted.
Two and a half days prior to going she got ill. Knew we wouldn’t be able to make it. I called immediately to cancel. Woman was ruder than the first one. Said they would charge our card on file no matter what. Great customer service! Would never ever patronize this place. Ever.
Can’t wait to see this place fold.

Just finished a 2 day, 1 night stay at The Reeds with my Mom.
Pros:
–Prime location. Right on the corner of the main street in town so it’s close walking distance to multiple shops and restaurants
–Furnishings are great. Room has a modern, clean beach theme. Very clean overall
–Very comfortable bed and pillows, soft towels and bathrobes
–Guests are taken to and from the beach via golf cart, and beach tags, towels, and beach chairs/​umbrella are provided. Chairs/​Umbrella are reserved prior to your arrival at the beach via the concierge making the trip to the beach easy and stress free
–Concierge very helpful and friendly, especially with booking dinner reservations. Some restaurants have standing reservations with the hotel so you don’t have to wait to eat
–Valet parking
— Staff friendly and helpful overall
Cons
— Hotel clearly is new and still has growing pains with the service.
–This morning some of the bell boys were scolded in the main lobby in front of guests for sitting rather than standing. Very inappropriate and uncomfortable.
–The housekeeping staff is loud at all hours, very unprofessional. At 10pm turn down was still occurring for other rooms in our hall and the housekeepers were yelling (not arguing just conversing) across the hall to each other. Same thing happened at 830 am.
— Walls are paper thing. Could hear entire tv show of our neighbor as well as every time someone coughed. You can also hear street traffic. We had to buy earplugs in order to sleep.
–Shower in bathroom is VERY small. My Mom and I are quite petite and we couldn’t imagine how someone around 6 ft would be able to shower. The shower head is low and does not extend upwards. The actual shower space is small and there are bars and a seat for elderly customers. It made the area cramped and for someone larger showering would likely be uncomfortable.
Overall the beach accommodations and location of the hotel made it worth it. Plus it was clean, friendly and had nice facilities overall. However, there definitely is room for improvement. For a brief shore stay, it definitely is the best place to go and we would return again, this time with ear plugs ready.

I was here about a month ago for my sister’s wedding.
The ceremony and cocktail hour were out on the water, followed by dinner and dancing inside.
Beautiful place! Staff was great… Food and drinks were great!

The hotel is quite nice and the amenities make the room comfortable and even relaxing. Here is where the enjoyment ends. Multiple interactions with staff left a lot to be desired. Upon check-​in they could not find the reservation, which for some reason ended up in my wife’s name (I had added her as a guest on their website). The staff at the front desk were very dismissive and unfriendly even after our reservation was found.
We asked the staff for recommendations for dinner at local restaurants. The list given was incomplete and this being the offseason there isn’t a lot open, so the staff should know about the places open less than a block away. You’re better off using Unilocal to find a place to eat.
Finally upon checkout on Sunday in the offseason, we were told we could not have a late checkout. My wife being pregnant isn’t as quick as usual, and we found tone and the unfriendly nature of the staff disappointing. This being the offseason, I can only imagine how bad it gets in the high season.
Bottom line: If you’re just looking for a nice room, and don’t care to be taken care of, this is your place. If you expect friendly service to go with that nice room, look elsewhere.

Promoted as the most luxurious hotel in the Stone Harbor area, it’s hard to disagree with them.
When you walk into the lobby, classic beach property elements combine with modern touches and tasteful decorations to give a relaxing and calming vibe. Unique LED lighting fixtures, comfortable chairs, lots of open space, and never farther away from a view of the water than a turn of your head.
The main lobby has a restaurant and separate lounge/​bar area. Rooms are nicely decorated without the usual «seashell and ship» motif so often seen at the shore.
Although this feels a little out of place on the main corner of Stone Harbor, and would be more appropriate to be sitting out on a lone dune somewhere facing the waves, it is a great place to stay when in town if you can afford it. If not, be sure to stop by for at least a meal or two.
