The Outlet Thrift Store

Meh, I got a friendly greeting as I walked in. But the place was pricey for a thrift store. Some stuff I could have bought new for close to there price. Also the close was not separated in size, just S, M, L, XL. So you had to go through the whole section to find your size. Wasn’t impressed

The Outlet is okay but I think they are way overpriced. I found a series of books for $ 3.99 each (for four books) and I found them at my next stop at Superior for 79 cents each.

We came in on a day when a lot of items were marked down at 75% off of already marked down prices. I found leather Sperry’s for my hubby for $ 13 (in awesome like-​new shape), and snagged my mom some leather Frye boots for $ 15. Needless to say it was a #win. Parking is a nightmare though… Teeny tiny lot and not a whole lot of street parking… :/​friendly staff. :)

The Outlet is part of the Eco Thrift chain, one oft very favorite places to shop when I go to second hand stores. This location however was a huge disappointment.
Everything was really dated and there was no treasure amongst the trash.
Even the boutique section had stuff that wasn’t worth anything – nothing old enough to be true vintage (unless you consider the 80s vintage).
The side rooms with dishes and electronics was pitiful.
My boyfriend bought a book, but I walked away with nothing which is almost unheard of when I go thrifting.
Like all Eco Thrift stores, they have a color code system which takes an additional 25−75% off depending on how long the item has been in store.
Maybe I came on an off day, but I have little desire to return.

If you’re looking for a great deal this is the place to go, they have special 25% 50% and 75% sales on their already insanely cheap items. They have everything except for furniture. they have their clothes sorted by gender and size so it’s not too hard to find what you’re looking for. The thing I really like about this place is the sales though.

The place is great for nice variety of clothes and shoes. The place always have sales. I got good vintage boots for $ 3 but it is a good find regardless of where you go. If you can not find something in supreme thrift store then this place will be the next stop.

Great selection here and great prices! Store is very organized and it doesn’t smell like a locker room with dirty and stinky shoes. Store is very big and I’m sure you come out with something here.

This visit, our first at this location, was by pure dumb happenstance. I say this because we found ourselves firstly checking out the jewelry (in sad limited supply) in the glass cases to the right as you enter the store. Feeling a twinge of dissatisfaction creeping in, I put it to the side and traversed onward. This is where the true magic began to happen. My lady split up with me and became a Missing Person for the next 15 minutes, as I grew engorged with the vast selection of sports coats and suit blazers lining the aisle. I must’ve grabbed close to 20 suit coats for deeper checking out later. I’ll tell you what, it was the super competitive price that caught my eye and the quality that left me in that same aisle, standing, when my lady walked up to me with a cute throw pillow, and a nice purse in various shades of browns. After her bewildered expression, finding that I was an immovable force, she suggested a cart for our visit. *chuckles* To make a long, long suit story very short, I grabbed coats from Italy, fitted sports coats, tops to suits blazer style, and with the help of a dedicated companion I found a mirror. I’m a great shopper, very picky, and was able to dwindle my vast selection down to three sports coats. I would divulge the choices, but realistically I found a couple steals that I wouldn’t want anyone to have ideas about mimicking.
Subsequently, my lady appeared again with yet another jacket, gorgeous sixties style, and two shirts. The girls’ done well in limiting her shopping bug and only eyeing the cream items. I was proud, I must admit. After pretty much saying she could get it all, she walked away again leaving her choices in the basket. Quickly I chucked the throw pillow under a rack of hangers to be lost in the abyss, and when she returned I comforted her that the shirts she chose were must grabs for the price. Frankly, at 99cents a shirt, she found gold. The next aisle proved impressive, and I was ever so filled with glee that there were not one, but two motorcycle jackets I may just have to visit again soon. Good ones too, though a bit worn.
Walking up to me with a smile came my lady once more, this time with pink short heels that I begrudgingly approved due to the fantastic price of just below two bucks. I grabbed a 99cent dress shirt, light blue, freshly dry cleaned and pressed, and headed to the check out. I was fully satisfied and on the way grabbed an imitation leather jacket with fur lining. At 3 bucks, looking glossy and unworn, it was destiny. As she stepped outside to wait for me to leave the store, I realized this time it was her that was growing impatient with me inside a store for once. Ha!
Checkout was rough, not due to price, but because I did find it slightly irksome that every item had to be announced with the price, the discount, and then hastily put in a large plastic bag. I mean, I understand its a thrift store and the liquidated value of most items are severely under par, sometimes ya’ get all great items and grow an attachment to them quickly. I mean, I was purchasing classy clothes and items I wanted to stay unwrinkled and put together. Moreover, a jacket that my lady found earlier in the store had its tag fallen off in transit. After she put it back on, and it fell off again, I stuck it in one of the button holes. Yet the workers at the counter informed us that any item that has its tag missing, or fastened improperly could not be sold. My lady was unhappy, as it was her main item of interest besides the purse. I stepped outside to let her know, and she replied in a low, irritated voice «I now want nothing but my purse». I spent a few minutes discussing that this was impractical after spending over an hour dedicating our time at this store, but she was difficult to budge. She insisted, and I persisted in buying everything she chose anyway, except the sheek 1960’s coat that I must admit, sort of grew on me while we carried it around the store. She then walked back into the store to the check out counters and asked to speak to a manger. The cashier informed her that no manager was present, but her supervisor was next to her.
She informed me that there was none, and no one could sell the item until the «tag person» or what have you, measured up the item. Debunked, I let it go. My lady, walked away.
All in all, it was a great experience until that point, and to be honest, it was the best thrift store in Stockton I’ve been to. The prices, the selection, and the cleanliness (though still with that slightly old K-​Mart worn yellow look to it) was key. The young girl cashier was clearly frazzled and may have needed a sip of wine after the transaction, but all in all she was fairly nice and I still was glad to have stumbled inside.

This thrift store has existed for many years. My family have been long time customers; I remember going here as a kid and now I continue to shop here as an adult. This was once a great thrift store and there are some things about it that are still great. However, whomever has taken over and changed the store polices has created a less than desirable experience for the customer.
At the outlet, if you want to try something on, you approach the dressing room and ring a doorbell. There are signs that say there is a item limit and 5 minute time limit. Then an employee goes through each item you want to try on and looks at the price tag. At first I didn’t know why the heck they were doing this and the staff told me that it is because people switch tags. So, as they go through your things you stand there while they take note of each price on the tag and the color, sometimes saying it out loud. Only then do they let you in the dressing room. If you are in there for more than five minutes, they start banging on the door and demand that you get out. This happened to me while I was getting dressed and it was so embarrassing. I kept saying «hang on I’m getting dressed» and she kept banging every few seconds repeating that there’s a time limit. I was scared she was gonna open the door because she kept giggling the handle.
They check the price tags again, before letting you leave the dressing room. So, what happens if they forget the original price tag? What if they thought it said 14.97 and you come out with a 4.97 tag on your clothing? I’d hate to find out. The whole experience is beyond demeaning.
I understand this is Stockton, Ca. I understand that people steal and that sucks for the store. But why take that out on paying customers? Treating every customer with an extreme amount of suspect is not the way to do business. Besides, isn’t everyone innocent until proven guilty? Then why do I feel like a criminal at this store?
I have been thinking about giving up on the outlet and today was the last straw. I got to the register and realized I didn’t have enough cash on hand. There is an atm across the street that I have been to many times. I asked that they hold my items while I go across the street. The cashier said they don’t do that. Then she said maybe for five or ten minutes, I said okay, that’s perfect. Then she said store policy doesn’t really allow that and that she was gonna leave my stuff on the counter and «hopefully someone doesn’t take something.» I asked to speak to the manager and she said she’s the supervisor.
Congrats, The Outlet! You just lost a very regular customer, one of 30 years.

Granted all the best thrift stores in Stockton are not on the best side of town, but this store takes the cake. Very organized and clean for a thrift store and the prices are reasonable too. They always have really good sales on top of their low prices, what more can you ask for?

My mother and I decided to get out of the house today and go thrifting. After extracting all the gems from one super cute new thrift store on Harding, we decided to make our way down to the outlet. The second I walk in I’m greeted by «You can’t have drinks in here». No Hello, how are you, just a demand for me to find something to do with my half full latte from Starbucks. As I was browsing through their ridiculously priced USED items, a lady from the front rushed down an aisle exclaiming «Sir! Sir! Take your hood off! It says so on the door» after many a head turn, myself and the rest of the onlookers discover that this man, who must be a thief, is obviously mentally handicapped. He mutters his apologies and the worker returns to the front. Horrified at the ridiculous prices and rude workers, my mother and I quickly made our way to the exit. This place has obviously forgotten what a thrift store is, and I would much rather spend my money on a place that is fair and friendly.

Excellent customer service! Greeted me as I walked in. And made it clear that if I needed help to just ask. Store was very clean and organized. Loved it.

I found some good deals here. Its as organized as it can get.

I guess from the reviews I was expecting a little bit more. I was really hoping for a wide variety of items. In actuality, this place is very similar to most Goodwill type stores. Yes, thrift store variety can vary daily, but there weren’t any signs of retro-​type items or antiques that I was (mistakenly) expecting. It was mostly yard-​sale type clothing, all with an overwhelming moth-​ball stench. The few ‘high-​end’ items I saw were some really dated Coach bags and an obvious fake Louis Vuitton.
No matter, I decided to start my hunt. Except, it never started. The place was so packed with people (and their unruly children) that I couldn’t even start my search. To make matters worse they have shopping carts here. Good idea, you’d think? Wrong. The aisles here are tight already, but when you add extra people, children, the occasional motorized scooter, and then shopping carts… It’s a damn obstacle course! I highly advise bringing friends so they can form a wall around you as you search the racks. Otherwise, you will get pushed by other «larger» patrons. I saw this happen several times.
I love finding a good bargain, but this kind of atmosphere was ridiculous! I really hope that I was there on an off day (a Thursday, by the way). I keep reading from fellow Unilocalers how this place is legendary in the Thrift Shop circuit. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to try again. But, it’ll be a while. I’m still washing the moth-​ball smell out of my hair.

I dropped in right after work today, for no reason really. I found some Abercrombie jeans, practically new for $ 3! In size 0! They also had books for half off… half off of practically nothing!
I love it!

I’m a people watcher. There is perhaps no better place to do this than The Outlet Thrift Store. People of all walks, and ways of life. The other day I saw Rod Stewart checking out baseball equipment, and a lady with red hair. Not just any red hair, like «candy apple red». This place is Awesome!
Aside form the people watching, its a pretty cool place to stumble upon all sorts of additions to your home. Here I bought a picture that hangs in my kitchen that totally completes the room. I found 1990’s cell phone that enables me to talk with famous people from that time (i.e. Brian Austin Green, Zack Morris & Murdoch from the A-​team just to name a few) and Last visit we found a pre lit 4 ft christmas tree for 5 bucks.

Love it! I have found great boots for just 5 bucks! Interesting selection! A lot to look at! You can’t leave empty handed! You are bound to find something too fun or cheap you have to get!
Pro: Fairly organized into different sections! Super deals! 75−25% On Sale Days!
Con: At times overly priced! Once they had a pair of True Religions for $ 500 bucks when they are new $ 300??? That doesn’t make sense!

There was a guy shopping here with dreads so long they were falling out of his Erykah Badu head wrap. You better call Tyrone, but you can’t use my phone. I think he hangs out at Pieces when not thrift shopping.
So anyway…
This place is organized thrift insanity. Color coded sales are constantly offered over the speakers. It’s kind of hard to keep track of these things. There are few brand name things that cost more and crap that is cheap. I guess that makes sense though. Overall, some decent well-​organized stuff and other things you can find unused at Ross/​Marshalls for not much more. It’s a damn thrift shop.
I found a perfectly fitting goofy blazer for my Jemaine (Flight of the Conchords) Halloween costume. Half off on purple tags? Girl, I know what you are trying to say. It’s business time.

This too, a Stockton East-​side staple… almost out of my hood, but been going here since I was a child. My first recollection was at age 11. Me and my best friend Paula Ramirez hopped in Mr. R’s big fat station wagon (they had 6 kid’s what else would they drive-​no mini-​vans or Expedition’s yet!) As Paula and I were browsing the toy isle I laid eyes on pure treasure… a totally outfitted kitchen for barbie sized dolls… you might say, 11, a bit old for Barbie? Well, these were the 60’s and we lived in the country; maturity level wise we were right where we belonged. Well, I had enough dough and I made that kitchen mine. We were sworn to secrecy by my «older» brother Elmer, Tommy, Robbie and Joey Ramirez and many other neighborhood boys not to tell anyone of the «doll» escapades they joined in on! Sorry guys; couldn’t help my self!
