Pediatric Associates of Stockton

We have been coming here for the past 6 years and have had Dr. Sakimura as our primary doctor though we’ve seen a couple others when we couldn’t land one with her. Dr Cahill and Dr. Billigmeier have seen my kids when they were newly born and they were really nice. I like this office because they have a sick and a well side– and also, it’s pretty easy to set up an appointment through their online portal. We just came through here for a kindergarten physical, and the NP and MA were super nice. They’ve all been really great each time we’ve been in whether it was for a physical or the kids were sick. You can tell that they’re good at giving shots and pretty proficient at it. Trust me, that’s the last thing you would want… is someone who sucks at giving shots to your baby (it’s happened to us before, but not at this place!!). I just wish the wait time was better. I got there at 920 for a 1000 appointment and wasn’t seen by the NP until 1040. Luckily the exam was quick, and we were out by 11.

I like the service and knowledge that the medial staff provide however their wait time is ridiculous and has gotten worse over the past few years. Had an appointment at 9:45 and waited until approximately 11 to be called to an exam room. Once in the exam room, had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so. This is extremely frustrating. I understand there are several other patients with appointments as well but they can definitely find a better way to organize appointments so this isn’t a recurring issue.
Also, on one or two occasions I have arrived at the office and have been informed of a past due balance however a bill was never sent to me so that I could address it in a timely manner.

The staff is always awesome, dr Cahill is my favorite pediatrician but if I get dr waters she’s just as great!
I never have a problem getting my babygirl in for those last minute sick call appointments.
They even have an easy website for appointment scheduling and seeing history. Love this pediatrician

My daughter had been going to Pediatrics Associates of Stockton since she was born. The Doctors and nurses are all great and I love all of them. The down fall is their billing department and office staff.
I have never been late on a bill with them. In fact I have always paid my bills and cancelled any appointments that we were not able to make. My husband had taken my daughter in to get her flu shot, they had told him that there was no co-​pay due at that time, this was back in October. In may of this this year we get told that there is a past due amount for that visit my husband explained to them that we were not aware of it. He was told my daughter could not be seen until that payment was made. We told them that we would make a payment the next pay period. Then we received a bill stating that they were charging us for a missed appointment in may. The office called us and told that we have 10 days to pay which is when were had told them we were going to pay. My husband confronted them about the missed appointment, how could we miss an appointment when you told us that you would not see our daughter? The lady told him that she would take it off and informed me to wait to pay until she could speak to the billing manager to get everything cleared up.
While waiting we find out that they have sent the item to collections and will not take it back nor will they see my child. When I pointed out that I was following their directions and that we had spoken to them in regards to payment their billing person stated that is correct what you told me but our billing supervisor was not informed of the arrangments or spoken to by our staff memeber about what was set up. THey do not read their charts. Really??? Wow so now I have to search for a new doctor because of their mess up. Hopefully they will not have an issue getting her records over to the new facility. Sad Sad sad… Yet i neve r complained when I had a standing appointment and left us waiting for two hours… or forgot us in a waiting room when all the doctors went to lunch… and they forgot to tell them that there were still people to see.

First of the medical staff deserves 5 or more stars, apart from the time doctor Water’s didn’t believe me about a MERSA infection they have been beyond great. I love Doctor Billingmeyer, he is amazing, Dr. Sakimura actually gave me an exam after having my second daughter because I thought I had blown my eardrum during labor and my doctor had repetitively blown me off. I was right. Dr. Cahill was able to give me information on raising vegetarian kids, the doctors although obviously busy take the time to get to know their patients and the patient’s families.
The Office staff is a bit rude, I was once sent to collections over a bill I had never received and did not know about. when I asked them about it is was told to check my mail more often. Sometimes it takes a day or two to get a call back if your question is about billing or paperwork, and it took me driving three hours from my new home to get my kids medical records, despite the fact that they claimed to have sent them to the new doctor.

I have seen every dr and nurse here and I love them ALL. so sweet and caring and very passionate about their work. my baby actually likes coming to the dr! short wait periods. and the doctors never rush you. they answer all questions. dr sakimura and cahill are the best. very pleased

I’m not sure why I still see these doctors and quite frankly I am extremely excited to be out of their care after I turn 18.
The counter staff are extremely polite and though they may be short on busy days, I don’t give them any bad reviews.
I LOVE the automated check-​in pads that they give you. It is so convenient and really saves up the time of waiting in line for other parents and patients to sign in and pay. Very well done!
Now, here is where my problem comes in. The doctors and nurses themselves could use some training in how to treat their patients. Aside from Doctor Waters, every doctor I have seen had a habit of bringing me in, giving me some bogus advice that I could have gotten from WebMD, and got me out.
For example, this was just yesterday that I saw my doctor to talk about a horrible cough and cold I’d gotten from my parents. I was in need of some sort of medication to make the symptoms die down a little since our household medications were of no help to me. Also, I wanted to get my inhaler refilled.
So after being weighed and measured, I was brought into a room and left to wait for about 10 – 15 minutes; not a big deal. Now, I’ve got a severe cold so I’m in the room sniffling, sneezing, and coughing up a storm. There were no tissues!
Okay back on track with the doctor issue. The doctor walked in, asked me what was wrong, and checked my vitals like usual. Then proceeded to explain to me what a cold was, as if I were a five year old; stuff I already knew! Then, whenever I sniffled, she kept saying «stop that!» Yet refused to offer me a tissue. I was under the impression that she just wanted me to let my boogies run down my lips like a blubbering little toddler.
After explaining to me what a cold was, she began to tell me things to do to improve my symptoms. They consisted of the following:
–Keep the house no warmer than 65 degrees
–Sleep with a space heater
–Sleep with a humidifier
–Take a steaming hot shower every night before bed
–Take two benadryl before bed
–Don’t let your dog into your room
–Take advil every few hours during the day
What set me aback were the two first suggestions. They seemed like complete bogus and even upon telling my army-​nurse-​vet mommy about what she’d told me to do, she was baffled.
So not only was I prescribed any specific medication specifically for my cold, I was refused a refill on my inhaler.
She kept saying «well, you aren’t wheezing so you don’t have asthma.»
First off, yes, I do have asthma. I was diagnosed with having asthma and prescribed an inhaler. I tried telling the doctor this and she just kept repeating herself: «You don’t need an inhaler unless you have asthma and since you aren’t wheezing, you don’t have asthma»
Why would I be prescribed an inhaler if I DON’T have asthma?
So I was sent home with absolutely nothing gained for me. It was just a waste of my time. Honestly, if I was looking to hear what that doctor had told me, I would’ve gone to WebMD for that kind of advice… Maybe BETTER advice. This visit was the last straw for me.
The staff needs training… BAD!

they are soo organized now! you check in on little tablets as well as make copayments with card on there also if you need to. the have separate waiting areas for sick and well kids. i haven’t ever had to wait more than 20 mins. and if i did it was because i came super early for my appointment. Their appointment system is actually awesome not like other places where they overbook. doctor’s are awesome and nurse’s are great.

18 years well served here at this establishment. All the physicians here are great. From Dr. Cahill (my main doctor), to Dr. Sakimura, Billigmeir, & Waters. I also used to get seen by Eileen who was my most frequent Doctor. She was great — thorough, nice, and always gave me accurate and informed information. I used to love coming here as a child. After every visit I would run to the exit door to pick-&-choose my prize & sticker of choice. During the start of my teen years they started to renovate the office. Adding in animal murals, and other rain forest themed kid-​friendly touches. Overall I liked the outcome. Service back in the 90’s was faster than those of today at the office. I still prefer calling in my appointment, but you now can schedule apps. via the internet. Also the office was getting Extremely packed during my last visits there. Seems the practice has taken on a wider patient base — bringing in more staff as well. I never have any problems with any visits here. The staff was always great and accepted my parents checks sans them being there. Which to me during my driving teen years was a plus… ahh Stockton Pediatrics, it seems I have worn out my stay here. Off to adulthood where the office isn’t colorful, and the walls are plain.; P

First, The Doctors, nurses, and NP’s alone receive a very enthusiastic FIVE STARS. They are awesome and the only reason my wife and I stay at the office.
This review is for the office staff and billing. The staff is unorganized, rude, and treat you as if you are a huge inconvenience to their day. I have never dealt with a single group of people that wanted to drive away customers so badly.
The tried to drop us as patients because THEY messed up the billing to our insurance, twice. It took talking to the DR. and several phone calls to my insurance to get them to straighten things out, and I’m still not satisfied. Wait, you want to tell me it is MY job to bill my insurance for YOUR services… uh, no!
If I find another Doctor in the Stockton area we like as much as Dr. B. we will be leaving.

All of these doctors went to better medical schools than pretty much every other doctor in Stockton, so that makes me feel more confident in them than in other practices, pediatric or not.
My child has been seen by pretty much everyone there over the years. They are cheerful with children and seem to know their stuff.
My main complaint is that the medical staff seem to be on fast-​forward sometimes, but at least that makes them efficient. Also, some of the docs speak a little babyishly to my child and probably to other children. At 13 (or even when she was 8, or 7), the high-​pitched, too-​fast ‘happy-​speak” sounds weird coming out of a doctor’s mouth.
Just speak normally to the children, please.
The last time I called the triage line, no one ever returned my call but every other time they have. I don’t know what the problem was and I guess I will have to call again. This is a small example of being your OWN advocate for medical care; no one else is watching out for you or your children.

Sometimes scheduling can get screwed up but the unplanned extended wait is balanced by the wonderful visit with the doctor. My children have seen Sakimura, Cahill, and Waters. Good energy and made my kids feel comfortable.

If I had a choice, I’d prefer not to have to take my kids to see a doctor other than for routine exams. Unfortunately, my kids have been to the doctor more times since we moved to the valley than they’ve gone since birth.
My kids have been with this group since we moved to Stockton last year. Their primary doc is Dr. Sakimura and she is the sweetest.
They have been seen by other docs in the group and so far all of our experiences with the docs and NPs have been great. The nurses are also wonderful. The front desk staff? Eh… If I had Unilocaled them a year ago, they would’ve received one star. But, they have drastically improved… imo. The wait time during well visits was ridiculous last year. They have improved big time since then. We seriously thought about switching groups because of it.
It’s a clean office and nicely decorated in a jungle theme. I also like that there are separate waiting areas for sick and well kids.
