AAMCO Transmissions

I took my car in to be looked at because the check engine light was on. These guys kept my car for a couple of days since I didn’t need it back right away. They called and told me exactly what the problem is and that it was something they could take care of easily. The guy I spoke too over the phone recommended products that are reliable and affordable. It only made sense to have these guys fix my car and now its running great. I recommend these guys to do work on your car.

It’s too bad people only leave reviews when things go wrong. I’ve been serviced a couple times at this Waterloo location and both visits were spot on from the diagnoses thru the communication to the repair. I’ve personally rebuilt engines in my past and I know a good shop when I experience one. You won’t be disappointed with this business!

I called Aamco concerning a shift problem with my 2007 Mercedes Benz E350 with a 7 speed automatic transmission. Sean told me to bring in that they will do a free inspection. I towed the car down there myself and before I could even get it off the trailer the free inspection turned into $ 100 for 1 hour labor to pull and remove the oil pan from the transmission. He said they needed to pull the pan so that they could get at the electrical relays and wiring to make sure it wasn’t covered in oil because the oil could be giving it a faulty connection. So I agreed. He said he would have an answer for me by that afternoon, he failed to meet the deadline. I had to call them right before 5 P.M. to see what’s going on. He said they were unable to finish the inspection and that they would call me by 9:00 a.m. The following morning. Once again he failed to meet the deadline. When he did call me about 1:30 P.M. that afternoon he informed me that the transmission oil had excessive metal in it and it no longer had reverse, and that they would need to replace and rebuild the entire transmission at a cost of $ 4000.
I disagreed the transmission was working fine it just wouldn’t shift and if you turn the key off and turned it back on it would work fine again for a while so it was obviously an electrical issue which was why the car was there to be checked for electrical issues. When I showed up later that afternoon to pick up my car I asked them to show me the metal shavings that they claim to have found in my transmission pan, he could not produce any he said they did not save them. I asked him if he had remove the pan he confirmed that they did not remove the pan I don’t know how they check for savings if they don’t open up the pan. With all of my questioning, he did not have answers for, he was getting a little agitated. We went out to the car to load it back up on my trailer and it had reverse, once again he did not have an answer for that. After I threatened to turn him into the Bureau of Automotive Repair, he kinda calmed down and started acting like he was on my side… Long story short, they did not check any of the electrical connectors like they said they were going do, they did not remove the pan like they had estimated a $ 100. charge for. They could not produce the metal shavings they said my transmission had and my car obviously did work in reverse when they told me it didn’t. I took my car to a European repair shop in Modesto they found the connector plate and valve body (electrical connections) was bad at the cost of $ 700 it is now being repaired the transmission is not shot it did not need total rebuilding.
Amco and Sean are complete liars con artist and crooks stay away from there.

I live four hours away and my transmission went out as soon as I arrived to my destination (Stockton). The staff at Aamco in Stockton were very courteous, friendly and had competitive pricing. The replacement on my transmission was quick and I had my car back in less than two days. I would definitely use them again and would refer them to any of my friends or family in the 209 area.

took my car to get a transmission check out, they said that it needed to be rebuilt gave me a quote of $ 1600 and said it will take 3 days, when i went to pick up the car they told me it will be another 2 days and that it will take more work and of course it will cost more, 5 days after my car was there i finally went to pick it up and the final bill was $ 2800, $ 1200 MORE FROM THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT.
i will never do business there again the owner is rude and he can care less about customer service i will never recommend this place to anyone.

I have used Aamco on Waterloo twice. Both times I have had great service. Sean and the guys know their stuff when it comes to vehicles. I had them work on a fuel system problem and a alternator issue. I left both times happy and with money still in my pocket. I highly recommend them. Thanks Aamco.

April 2010 I paid $ 3,000 having the transmission on my car rebuilt. Took them dam near a month to get it done. Once I finally picked up my car I had to keep bringing it back because my transmission light kept coming on. They kept saying there wasn’t anything wrong. That if the problem persisted I would need to spend an additional $ 300 to have some sensor block replaced. My car never drove right. From time to time the sensor light would come back on, but it would go off. Dec 2010 2 weeks before Christmas the transmission light comes back on. This time it stays on and the car is driving worse than it was before the tranny was rebuilt. I take my car back to Aamco. Thank God it was still under warranty. After they have my car a week and a half and me calling every other day I’m finally told that my transmission has to be rebuilt AGAIN! I’m promised I’ll have my car back before Christmas. Well today I get a call of some sad story that the builder was in a bad car accident over the weekend, the parts still have not come in and my car won’t be ready until Dec. 29. By this time my car will have been there well over 3 weeks. I’ve spent over $ 500 in rental car expenses and all they can offer me is a useless apology. Do yourself a favor and don’t ever take your car to Aamco. They do shotty work and don’t have any care or concern for their customers.
