Oh gawd — I went there a few days ago, head filled with these slick ads making the place look like it was on par with Kroger or Publix. I had been trying to avoid going to the other side of 138, if possible, and was hoping Aldi could replace Kroger — so I could shop and just go right to the freeway without going to the other side where Kroger is. After checking out Aldi I knew it was not to be. Aldi doesn’t have«generic» food — it has food brands that nobody else wants to sell. Its a bunch of junk nobody wants. Thia Aldi is right next to Walmart — so what’s the point? Just go to Walmart instead of wasting time here. The shelves were neat, the store was clean — but the selection was microscopic. It looks more like an over sized convenient store than an actual grocer. You could fit 6 of these in one Kroger. The vegetables /fruits were mostly spoiled and packed oddly. The non-grocer items they sold were just thrown on the shelf, with no recognizable pattern. he food, while neatly placed on the shelf, was arranged so they just rip the package box open and slap it on the shelf. Staff was basically zombies — I went through every inch of the place with no interaction whatsoever. Maybe the were too depressed working in such a dismal environment? One good thing I will say — carts were clean — quarters per cat seem to be working.

Bring your own quarter to get a cart, and bring your own bags! I really like the prices of their weekly produce. They also have great weekly specials on STUFF — kitchen gadgets, workout equipment, office supplies, plants — you name it. Just look in their weekly circulars for the specials, and go in and grab what you want, when you see it. What you see is what you get, and if it is gone, then too bad… Aldi’s and Trader’s Joes are owned by the same folks, so you are getting a quality product. There is no wall to wall shelving from top to bottom, no one is there to bag your groceries, there are no bags for you to walk away with! If you want great prices and a great product, then shop at Aldi’s!

I love Aldi! They have the generic«off brand» stuff, but often I find that they are made from the same large companies and taste just as good. Check out the farm code for milk and you will see :) This place also has random seasonal items that come and go; for example, I found children’s swimming pools and goggles… Weird but nice I suppose. Their prices for regular grocery items — milk, cereal, rice, beans, cheese, meats — are excelllllllent. Love ‘em. Oh, and finally, their chocolate is AWESOME. That’s what comes from a german brand haha. Bring your own grocery bags, or take their boxes. You deposit a quarter for a cart but you get it back later. They also only accept Debit, EBT, and cash.
