Lake Area Discovery Center is a high-​quality, NAEYC accredited Christian-​based Preschool/​Childcare Program serving families at 10 metro locations, offering affordable/​flexible full and half-​day schedules for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Four-​Year-​Degreed Licensed teachers engage the «whole-​child» in welcoming, stimulating classrooms that prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond.

History

Established in 1999.

Founder Janet Miller, began LADC in 1999 to fill a need in the community for more, strong, Christian-​based early childhood programs. Striving to offer the highest-​quality pre-​primary education, the decision was made to hire only 4 year degree, early-​childhood education/​kindergarten certified lead teachers with a current MN teaching license. Janet created a unique blend of the «Bank Street», «High Scope», «ECFE» and «Montessori» models of learning together with a Christian emphasis for the daily operating philosophy. LADC lead teachers from all locations team together to write monthly lesson plans from the LADC Curriculum.

Janet, with the LADC Board of Directors, has built partnerships with area churches and schools. LADC provides the education, licensing and accreditation expertise for high-​quality care and Kindergarten-​readiness programs. Our partners provide beautiful buildings and spaces plus partner in family fellowship events.

Business Owner

LADC’s Founder and Executive Director, Janet has been a licensed early-​childhood teacher for over 25 years. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and worked on the pilot team of Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) in Minnesota. Janet lives in Mahtomedi with her husband. They have 4 grown daughters and enjoy spending time with family and grandchildren at their Wisconsin cabin.
