Business Owner

Brian offers Liberty Village customers more than 16 years of experience in the wine, beer and liquor industry. He is passionate about wine. Brian has been to countless wineries and has been fortunate to spend time with a number of top winemakers. In addition to his wine expertise, he has an acute knowledge of beer. Over the years, Brian has worked with many brew masters, visited their breweries and learned the fine art of brewing beer. And, he has shared dinner with acclaimed author, the late Michael Jackson, also known as «the beer hunter.» Some of Brian’s favorite beers include Belgian beer, English beer and beer made in your garage. If you have any questions regarding wine, beer and/​or spirits, Brian is always here to help. Brian’s motto: You won’t know unless you try it.

Nice selection of alcohol and it’s a very convenient for me but this is quite possible the only liquor store that I hate going in to. Why? The people that own/​manage it. I don’t remember a store where I’ve felt more unwelcome especially the owner who I’m assuming is Brian as listed home page here on Unilocal.I’ll just call him the Ogre.
On more than one occasion I’ve walked in right past the Ogre and, despite the fact that he didn’t appear to be doing anything, he made absolutely no acknowledgement of my presence. Even when checking out he said NOTHING. Now I don’t know this guy so obviously this isn’t anything personal and I’ve seen him do the same thing to other customers. I can’t tell if he’s arrogant, rude, clueless or a combination of all three.
One time I asked the Ogre if he had any margarita salt in the back since the spot on the shelf was empty. His response «Well of course not, if I did it would be on the shelf. Just use the lime flavored stuff right there». No, Mr. Jackass, I don’t want lime flavored salt.
On another visit I was trying to check out and the nice girl behind the counter was on the phone with the Ogre (which she whispered to me apologetically). So she is holding the phone in one hand and talking and trying to hold and scan beer and alcohol bottles with the other. She told the person at least twice that she was trying to check out a customer but the person wouldn’t stop yapping at her.
I stopped in one time on a Saturday afternoon and walked to the back to grab a bottle of gin, walked up to the counter and waited. And waited. And waited. I was there at least 10 minutes and there was no sign of ANYONE in the place. I looked in the office and saw no one. So I left.
Another time I walked up to the counter to check out and the Ogre was sitting back behind the counter eating lunch. He gave me a look like «can’t you see I’m busy eating you idiot» and then finally got up and checked me out while continuing to eat his sandwich. Again, no hello, no thank you not even an f-​you.
Fortunately I now remember to pick up beverages before I get close to home so I have been pretty successful at avoiding this place, especially since I never see the nice older guy that used to always be there. It’s too bad too, since it’s a nice little store and is so close to home.
