They charged me $ 235 for a new ignitor for my furnace, real crooks. This is only a $ 50 part from anyone else. Stay away from these shysters

I had a different company diagnose my furnace and found out I needed a quick replacement unexpectedly. I was stranded without heat on a cold winter day over the holiday break. I shopped around before the salesman came over, he provided me a quote, and Hoffman was right in line with local competition. I purchased a high efficient solution for the same price as competition priced for a single blower solution.
Great pricing, up to date knowledge with tax rebates and tax credits with an install in less than 24 hours. I highly recommend them.

i asked Hoffman to come and check out my air conditioner. When the service guy was here, he said he’d go down and take a look at my furnace. He told me there was a crack in the heating element, and he would have to put a «red tag» on it and disable it. Mistake number one.
He then gave me a quote for a new furnace and new air conditioner. $ 8800.00. My house is only 1400 square feet.
I was shocked, and I decided I should get another bid. The owner of the company called me a few days later and said I didn’t need a unit that size and got the price down to $ 7400.00
A local White Bear company, Reibel Heating, came out and just installed a new furnace for $ 2200. He said he would let the air conditioner keep running until it quit. Which could be 1 year or 10, he’s seen the old one last forever.
And here’s the best part. There was no crack in the heating element. NONE. There was a scratch. I feel the Hoffman service rep was not honest, and I am really bummed that I just installed a furnace I did not need. But Reibel will have my business from here on out.

What a great experience. From the salesman, Steve Chiarella to the guys who did the install, John and Darrel. Steve arrived on schedule for our first meeting, very professional and friendly. After he left, we had some questions, called his cell phone and he answered every time we called. Scheduled our install the following week. Two installers came on schedule at 9am and were done by 11am. We are located in Minnetonka, but Steve is out of the Stillwater office. Would definitely recommend them. No hidden fees, price was as stated and very reasonable.

This review is based primarily on the service technician (Dean) that came out to inspect our A/​C. I got matched up to Hoffman through ServiceMagic.
Hoffman needs to work on their communication skills & have their employees knowledgeable about the Federal Tax Credit. I was really glad that they contacted me right away after I submitted my ServiceMagic request regarding a warped & cracked fan blade on my A/​C unit, but after the initial contact, it all went downhill.
First, the technician (Dean) played along that my 1975 A/​C unit could be fixed rather than completely overhauled. Dean wanted to clean my A/​C unit & test the heat pump first before figuring out if it would be worth fixing the fan blades, which would have cost me a diagnostic fee. Maybe that fee would have been waived had I hired them to install a new A/​C unit, but not telling me that he was going to charge me for the diagnostic (I had to ask) left a bad taste in my mouth.
After looking at my furnace & asking me the square footage of my house, I got an estimate for a new Lennox furnace at over $ 3K. Fine. It’s a Lennox. I get that it’s a great brand. I asked Dean whether I could get a tax credit on an A/​C alone & he said he didn’t know & that I would have to research that on my own. Uhm, you’re in this industry. Shouldn’t you know this stuff?
After Dean had left, the owner of Hoffman called me to discuss purchasing the new A/​C & possibly a furnace. Since I wasn’t at home & didn’t know what model number I had for the furnace, I told the owner to please call me back at 1pm because I couldn’t check the number. The owner never called me back. When I called him to follow-​up later in the afternoon, it turned out he had left for the day. Strike 2.
Lastly, Dean called me a few hours after he had left to tell me that yes, the particular Lennox A/​C he had originally quoted me miraculously had a federal tax credit for $ 1,170 off. Funny, because in order to qualify for the tax credit, you pretty much have to purchase a new furnace & A/​C simultaneously. Two other contractors whom I had called to give me quotes confirmed this for me. Not sure what would have happened if I had actually booked Hoffman & time came to claim the credit!
Oh! And, the final straw, Dean called me in the evening to see if I had made a decision. He wanted to know all the details about the contractor I ended up going with. I really think all he wanted was my business to get a commission. I was not impressed with Hoffman & really annoyed by their communication.
