I gave this a 4 for clean, minimalist, modern décor. Central location is the main factor for choosing this hotel. In other area branches we didn’t have a very good and lasting experience with our stay in the past so we like to give it another go. So far, so good. Of course we just got here lol

Overall I really like what Marriott has done in sprucing up the look and feel if the Fairfield brand, and as far as amenities and overall feel and décor go, this is no exception. The breakfast is fair and the staff is very friendly and helpful, so not a bad place to go if you’re on holiday. Business travel might be ok too, except for one thing: really, really poor internet bandwidth. I’m sure the hotel is sold out on football weekends, but if you also need to make money the other 9 months of the year, then you need to cater to business travelers. In order to do that, you need to have a ton of bandwidth on your internet. By a ton, I mean equal to what I can get at Starbucks. Enough to stay connected while VPN’d in and sending large presentation and video files and making calls via VOIP. This hotel is not equipped to do that, but the Starbucks down the street can(and did). Marriott better hope that Starbucks doesn’t diversify into overnight hospitality…

We stayed at the Fairfield in Stillwater for the first time earlier this week. We normally stay in another hotel in Stillwater but decided to give the Fairfield a try. The check-in was very quick and friendly. Our room was neat and clean. They had a large selection of breakfast items. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from OSU and is right in the area where most of restaurants are located. This is where we’ll stay when in Stillwater again.

I’m downgrading to a 2-star. To take advantage of a Marriott promotion that offered 2,500 bonus miles per stay, I thought I’d try out the Fairfield again. To be honest, I had forgotten about the breakfast woman and just went for it. This time she scolded me for not putting my [fully-wrapped] biscuit sandwich on a Styrofoam plate when I was getting ready to microwave it. She actually forcefully took it from me, put it on a plate and told me it would bleed through(it didn’t). Seriously, they need to lose this woman. Who wants a bossy try-to-get-a-tip lady in their face at 6:30 a.m. Not me. Definitely Hampton next time. Oh, and the housekeeping supervisor that stands directly in front of the main door and smokes? Classy and pleasant touch at aforementioned time. There’s a back door. Use it.
