Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning

Didn’t actually end up having the work performed by them, but not a fan of their sales tactics.
I called to set up a basic gutter cleaning/​inspection. First, I got a hard sell about how I really needed to sign up for their «platinum plan,» which would include cleaning in the spring, early fall, late fall, etc. (mind you, this is without them even seeing my house, how many trees are around, or anything else to assess whether that number of cleanings is truly needed). I declined and mentioned that I have a landscaping company that already performs one cleaning in the fall. He then lectured me that you should never have a landscaping company clean your gutters, because they’re not insured to do it and kept telling me that I really needed the platinum plan. Dude, I’m a lawyer — I know to check whether and what the companies performing work on my home are insured for, and I’m still not interested in signing up for a pricey service plan until I’ve had you out to my house at least once. Moving on, finally… we went through the info about my house, I got a quote of $ 155, and he said he could schedule me within the next 2 weeks. Great. So he took my credit card info, and then said «someone will be out in the next two weeks.» Okay, I said… when? He said they don’t schedule a specific day, so it could be any day during the next two weeks, as early as 7 am. Two problems with this. One, I don’t really want to wake up one morning, open my shutters, and see a guy up on a ladder staring back at me with no advance notice. Two, I like to arrange to work from home when someone is performing service on my house, particularly the first time I use them… I’m not getting up on a ladder to check the gutters, so how do I really know if the work is getting done unless I’m there? I explained this, he repeatedly said they don’t schedule for a specific day, so I said okay, cancel the charge, thanks but I’ll go elsewhere. IMMEDIATELY he said well, actually we could schedule you for next Monday, we’ll schedule a specific date as a courtesy this once since you’re a new customer, even though it usually costs more. Huh? I thought you don’t schedule for a specific date at all, now you do for a fee, but will waive the fee this time? I was getting completely rubbed the wrong way by this point and said no thanks — I’m looking for a company I can use going forward, so the fact that you’ll only give me a specific date this one time but won’t do it in the future doesn’t work for me. He kept arguing with me about it and trying to get me to go forward with the service, until I cut him off and demanded that the charge be canceled. Unfortunately since I’d already given him my address and email, I’ll probably be on their marketing lists going forward.
I subsequently called another major gutter company in the area, they had no problem offering to schedule me for a specific date, weather permitting (at no additional cost) or providing an early morning call day of cleaning, gave me a quote of $ 140, came on the appointed date at the appointed time, and completed the work at that price. I asked them how often I should be getting my gutters cleaned, and was told twice a year was sufficient.

The crew came out they were quick and professional. They left the bags of debris they took from the gutters in my drive way. They are more expensive than other gutter cleaning groups online, when you call they give you this hard sell and start dropping the price. Only to arrive at your home and tell you about the add on charges that apply. By the time they are done, the already pricey $ 185, come out price, has gone up a couple hundred dollars. DO NOT be fooled by their low prices on the internet. It will cost you in the end.
Update– Spring Landscaping did my gutters for $ 120 and didn’t leave the garbage bags in my driveway…

I have never seen a more dishonest business. Starting with their incredibly aggressive sales technique, they charged double what any other company in the area was charging for a town home. For 40 linear feet of cleaning they wanted $ 150. Because I needed my gutters cleaned, I allowed them to come out and do the work. Less than a week after the completion, my gutters were overflowing with water during a storm. Water came cascading out as if it were an open fire hose.
Out of frustration, I called another company because Ned Stevens was unwilling to come and check their own work. The second company came out and they pulled one entire garbage bag full of debris out of the downspout on my home. I watched in horror as the second company pulled all of this material out of what I thought was a clean downspout and gutter system. The second company, for half of the ned stevens price, even installed gutter covers as well as cleaning the gutters.
Ned Stevens had the audacity to call and ask for my business again and when I explained how poorly they had executed the job the last time, they continued with their high pressure sales and actually tried to argue with me regarding the incompetent work that was previously done.
If there was a score lower than 1 star I promise that would have been my choice. This company is dishonest and they do not stand behind any work that they do.

I hired this company to clean my gutters in August 2013. The company performed the service when scheduled but left dead leaves on my sidewalk. Afterwards, the company started e-​mailing and calling me incessantly until at least October, trying to get me to set up another appointment or a regular gutter cleaning schedule. I would not recommend this company because of the frequent phone calls and e-​mails.

I was having trouble with my rain gutters so I called Ned Stevens. They came out a few days later and cleaned them out. During the cleaning they found that my gutter was holding water and that’s why it was overflowing. About a week later Ned Stevens came back out to replace the bad gutter. I think the guys name was Francisco, he did an awesome job. The new gutter looks great and works great. Very happy with the service and promptness of this company especially when contractors these days can be so shotty.

I am REALLY off put by this service. First of all I wanted one cleaning to try out the service. On that first call they tried to up sell me with a $ 700 annual service to clean my gutters 6 times a year. THEN they identified a «problem» with my gutters that they said needed a $ 300 fix immediately. I got a second and third opinion and no issue was identified. Finally they don’t stop calling me to «check in» for another cleaning. I am fed up with the calls and the up selling. The work they did was just fine, however the relentless up-​selling left me wishing I had never called them.

I contacted Ned Stevens Gutters about a gutter repair (levelling the gutter) to my mansion, since Ned Stevens, a national company, claims that it does gutter repairs. However, Ned Stevens refused, over the phone, to do any repairs or gutter-​leveling for me. Ned Stevens only wants to replace your gutters, not to repair them. It is false advertising for Ned Stevens to claim that it does gutter repairs. All Ned Stevens does is to market you new gutters.
