Double Phoenix JJ is a great school with two ridiculously friendly and talented instructors who are there to help you meet all of your BJJ goals and more. I always have a great time coming in and rolling with everyone because of the strong sense of community built by the students and Coach Kyle and Coach Tammy. I have a lot of fun, but I always feel like I’m learning and progressing with my BJJ with every class. Overall, this is a great gym! And if you’re looking to start BJJ or take your game to the next level, this school is a great place to start.

I have 3 kids at Double Phoenix JJ and would recommend this place without hesitation. I do extensive research when I sign my kids up for any activities and have a good feel about what schools are good and what schools are just out to make money. My kids have been to 2 other BJJ schools and have taken trial classes at a couple other schools in the NoVA area. This is by far the best school especially if you have kids and want them to learn real BJJ. If you want your kids to do recreational BJJ or have a serious competitor, you’ll find what you need here. We followed Kyle and Tammy when they opened their new school because we believed in their teaching philosophy. Kyle and Tammy, the owners/instructors, are so passionate and motivated about teaching BJJ that it shows in every class. Their goal is to make their school and especially the kids program the best in the area. And while the school is new, I believe they are on their way. In the 3 months that they have been open, the kids competition team has won 1st place team at 2 separate tournaments and 2nd place once(and I believe that was only because a lot of the kids were on vacation then!). Coach Kyle and Coach Tammy teach discipline, respect, and team work. The camaraderie here between the kids are great and the parents are great at supporting the team. The fees are very reasonable for the amount of instruction you can get. What kids BJJ program has 12 hours of instruction available every week??? Mon — Sat??? I have yet to find another with that many hours. I’m very particular about what classes my kids take in any sport. I don’t want to sit around and waste my time just to have my kids have play time on the mats for an hour. That being said, your kids will learn BJJ and it will be in a fun, friendly, and safe atmosphere. As if you hadn’t guessed by now, I wholeheartedly recommend this place for top notch BJJ instruction!!!

The kids’ program here is like no other. My daughter loves learning jiu jitsu because of the amazing coaches, who have really created a family atmosphere. Coach Tammy is one of the toughest girls you will ever meet, yet so warm and kind to the kids. Coach Kyle’s enthusiasm for jiu jitsu is contagious. Both coaches are incredibly skilled and the kids’ program is top notch. They are not babysitting your kids there. The kids are learning very complex routines, but having a lot of fun doing it. Highly recommend!

This is hands down the best gym for practicing BJJ. My kids love training with coaches Kyle and Tammy. Their energy and experience teaching kids inspires kids to work hard and the kids really get into it. In a kid-friendly, safe environment, students of all ages can learn key moves and strategies as well as cutting edge combinations. In their gym, Kyle and Tammy provide constantly changing jiu jitsu training for fitness, personal safety, discipline and competition. My kids are different skill levels, and whether you are a beginner or an expert, coaches Kyle and Tammy provide competition level training so the kids can bring their best. My kids look forward to it all day, and when class is over, they can’t wait to go back. They have made great friends and learned about respect and sportsmanship as well as jiu jitsu. I am looking forward to joining the adult program when my schedule allows. There’s a lot more individual attention than our past gyms.(Thanks, Paul and Jen, for showing us this gym!)

Cool new small school on the 2nd floor of a building just off of Old Ox Rd. Run by two very enthusiastic brown belts, Kyle and Tammy, that have just opened this place and set it up very nicely. Kids and adult classes available M-F and kids class also on Saturday. Basic and advanced classes available. The kids have fun in the kids class and instruction is primarily focused on competition in tournaments. Kyle and Tammy are great teachers.
