At Paul Mitchell Schools, we believe the learning process should be fun and everyone’s education should be special. That’s why we base our courses and teaching methods on multiple intelligence, the learning research pioneered by Howard Gardner at Harvard University.
We All Have Multiple Intelligences
The theory of multiple intelligence takes into account the unique talents and ways of knowing that we each possess. There are seven different intelligences, or ways that people process information. Most schools and traditional learning deal only with verbal linguistic (reading and writing) but we all have other intelligence: multiple intelligences. It is exciting and rewarding to identify our other natural intelligences, such as musical, math logical, body kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and spatial intelligence.

Tina Black owns three Paul Mitchell Schools in Michigan and Florida, where she holds many roles. She co-created the Be Nice Teams now offered in every Paul Mitchell School; she helped write the network’s self-empowerment and anti-bullying curriculum; and her schools regularly rank among the top 10 in the annual FUNraising campaign, which has raised millions of dollars for charity. With a passion for helping people see their true potential, Tina will continue opening schools and motivating others.
