I went in here on a whim and was very pleased with the food. They had several entrees and sandwiches to choose from. Our meals took a bit of time, but they were busy and everything was prepared fresh. I wish I knew more about Middle Eastern food so that I could talk knowledgeably about what I ate, but I don’t. I have no idea how it compares to other restaurants in the area. But it was cheap, fresh, and delicious. All told, we spent $ 10 for two sandwiches and two sodas… a great deal!

This is the second time I’ve been here this year. Middle Eastern food isn’t quite my favorite, but I’m down for something healthy every now and then. Walking in, the place looks like it’s seen better days. It’s a bit dated and a bit worn down. If I were eating the tables, this would be a concern, but I’m here for food! I have to admit, I don’t eat Middle Eastern food very much, so I’m still figuring out what I like. Today I got a chicken tikah with Iraqi salad and shaneena. The salad was better than a lot of salads I’ve had. It didn’t have a lot of flavor, but was refreshing. It’s made of mostly cucumbers and tomatoes with some lettuce, onion, spices, and some whole black olives. The shaneena was interesting to someone who has never had it before. It’s a yoghurt drink with salt. The saltiness isn’t overpowering, but definitely not something I’d expect. Unfortunately it’s not sweet enough for my ruined American palate. I like how it’s made in Dearborn though. The entrée, chicken tikah, was alright. Grilled chicken with raw cut up cucumbers, a tomato, onion, and pickled something, possibly cabbage, served with pita. Now remember, I’m not exactly a Middle Eastern connoisseur. The tikah appears to be something I might skip next time. It wasn’t necessarily bad, just not very flavorful. Is it supposed to be? I dunno. Was it healthy though? You betcha! There are plenty of other items on the menu that I’m sure I’ll like a lot more. There are items with potatoes, fish, rice, lamb, and beef. There is a choice of 8 different salads, 4 soups, 4 seafood items, and 22 dinners. Combos? Yeah, there are also combos along with trays of items. One note is that most things are a la carte. Also, you may be the only patron in there. I’d really like to see what others think of the place as I’m really not quite sure what to expect with this kind of food. Would I be back? Sure will be! Last time I was here I definitely ordered things that suited my palette better. I’m all for supporting local restaurants and will be delighted to try something else.
