Last year I learned a hard lesson that some insurance companies «report» a glass claim if they approve a windshield repair, in effect jacking up your premiums for a few years out or causing your next insurance company to not give you preferred rates. For this reason alone, I would rather pay ~$ 50 to make a new crack become nearly invisible and stop from spreading vs. ignoring the issue and watch as crack expands and then having to buy an entire windshield.
