Went here today to walk on the beach for a few minutes. It’s a nice quiet spot. I only saw one other person other than the friend I was with. There’s rocks for sifting through and skipping. There’s an old shell of a burned-out marina and there’s railroad tracks. Not a lot to actually do here but it’s a nice spot to walk on the beach if you want to be in a quiet spot. Though the steps to get down to the beach are quite steep and there’s no ramp so those with mobility issues are likely to have problems getting down into the beach.

Quiet little spot! There’s a shelter and tables for picnics. If you have mobility issues, then the steep stairs to get to the beach may be an issue.

Great«park» … it’s a beach really. Not too many people. A free soft sand boat launch. My husband headed out to drop crab pots with my son, while I tinkered around on the beach with my daughter. Nice evening. Great place to find rocks, shells, and let the toddlers go in knee deep :0) Lots of shallow water play space.

I almost hesitate to add Saltar’s Point to Unilocal, because one of it’s many charms is that it is largely unknown. When people think of public parks in Steilacoom with beach access, nearby Sunnyside is probably the first place that comes to mind, but Saltar’s Point is just as beautiful and much of the time you have the place to yourself. Saltar’s Point doesn’t have the grassy areas, playground, or volleyball facilities, nor does it have the large parking lot, but the beach is beautiful(though rocky). In the evenings you have an amazing view of the Olympics, and the ferries coming and going from Anderson and McNeil Islands. There is a nice covered picnic area that I have never seen in use before, as well as two well-kept bathrooms with running water. Parking is limited and only available from 6am-10pm. The walkway down to the beach goes right over the train tracks — there is nothing quite like standing right over the track as a double-decker freight train barrels through!
