We offer 2 Types of Tours:

«Learn to Drive» dog sledding tours where we teach you how to drive your own dog sled team. (typically 2 people per sled)

Or

«Guide Driven» tours where you sit back and relax while our we drive the sled for you.

Grizzle-​T Dog & Sled Works was started in Steamboat Springs, CO in 1996.

We offer dog sledding tours to visitors of Steamboat Springs, CO and the surrounding areas.

Grizzle-​T started with the idea of Teaching Guests how to drive their dog sleds vs. just taking them on rides as passengers because we feel that driving the sled is a real thrill and something that most people would love to enjoy.

However, we also offer Guide Driven sleds for those that would prefer to just sit back and relax.

Grizzle-​T Dog Sledding is family owned and operated by Iditarod Musher, Kris Hoffman and his wife Sara. Located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO.

We are a dog sledding kennel with a 33 year history of racing and breeding Alaskan Huskies for the Iditarod.

Our Dogs /​The Athletes:

Alaskan Huskies are friendly and energetic. Bred for speed, strength, and endurance, they are some of the world’s most talented athletes. Properly conditioned and with state-​of-​the-​art nutrition, these dogs can run over 150 miles a day across some of the most unforgiving frozen terrain on earth. Sled dogs thrive in the cold of winter and love the snow!

We love being able to share this amazing sport and «forgotten way of life» with all of our guests. It is so rewarding to see the smile on someone’s face as they learn how to drive their own dog team and experience the thrill that is Dog Sledding.

My sons (12 and 13 yoa) had a great one of a kind experience. A little pricey but something we will never forget. We drove our own sled and the guide and staff were friendly and watchful. Great views and great dogs. We loved it and would recommend it to all.

From start to finish an incredible experience! Loved being able to interact with the pups, you can really tell how much they love what they do! Family owned and operated. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful and full of information. They all go above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable! Our guide was Patrick– he offered to take photos, tucked us in properly to our sled at the stops, provided fun facts about the area and our dog team, and always gave us a good idea about what to expect ahead! Highlight of our trip.

We had our first dog sledding adventure today– Saturday, 1÷9÷16. Grizzly-​T is truly an amazing experience. It was clear this family run business loves their dogs and have pride in their dog’s work. The guides do a great job sharing so many cool facts and info on their dogs and getting you ready for the experience. John Hogan was our guide and he did a great job instructing us as we both drove our sled. This adventure will be a very special memory to us always and we hope to return again next year! Don’t miss this!

A very unique experience! Something I’ve always thought looked cool and it turns out it’s pretty easy to do in Steamboat and not too expensive.
They picked us up at the hotel along with three other people (a nice small group) and off we went on a scenic drive to the saddleback area.
Once we arrived we got the low down on all the dogs and helped get then harnessed for our trek. I wanted to steal all of the dogs, they were so sweet and affectionate, how could you not? Maybe I could say one ran away… to my hotel room.
We got instructions on how to maneuver the sled and were on our way. It’s so cool to see how much the dogs love their job, they get so excited and literally leap ahead when you get going. Hubby and I took turns driving during the 7 mile loop.
When we got back we were treated with hot beverages and cookies and got to spend more lovey time with the pups. A big thanks to our great guides Joseph and Colin, you were fantastic!
I would definitely recommend this as the perfect half day non-​ski excursion!!!

This was so fun! Our 2 teenagers even loved it. When they say dress warm, they mean it. It was nice that they had extra gear in case you came without enough. (boots, face warmers etc.) The guys gave us great instruction, although it was pretty effortless. The warming hut with hot chocolate afterward was a great ending to a fun day.

What an amazing experience! The dogs were so well behaved. The staff were very informative and accommodating. They had snacks and warm drinks after. The actual dog sledding was exciting and easy to drive. The sights were perfect! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Steamboat!
