Café Rust is a one woman show that began in the spring of 2015. Shannon McBride is the scratch baker, barista, bottle washer, waitress and smiling greeter of this quaint little café. Café Rust is one of many artists nestled in a wonderfully decorated shop filled with hand crafted luminaries, hats, scarves, gift cards, candle holders, jewelry and more.

Owner, Scratch Baker & Certified Barista

I have been a closet baker for many years. I love experimenting in the kitchen and appreciate the science as well as the art of a great recipe. My life before Ste. Gen. uniquely combined these two aspects. I have degrees in Art, Art History, Kinesiology, Sport Science and Sport Psychology. My first career as a Junior Olympic Gymnastics Coach and Aquatic Specialist continued this trend combining the art of human movement and psychology with the science of kinesthetic movement and biochemistry. Ok… so in case you have not caught on… I am a Geek and proud of it! These passions now extend to the science behind scratch baking and brewing a perfect cup of coffee.

I bake from scratch throughout the day and try to anticipate the needs of my patrons. Take a look in the case to see the available sweets. All hot brews average 4 minutes. I emphasize Quality not Quantity while offering something for all palates.
