History

Established in 1979.

Opened in June 1979 in downtown Staunton, Virginia with Wayne Sipe purchasing the business from his employer a few months later. Opening a second location in May 1997 in downtown Waynesboro, Virginia.

A family owned business. Operated and Managed by Wayne and Laura and their two sons Jonathan and Jeremy offering complete automotive parts and service.

Wayne recalls working for Interstate Tire when he applied for a job at United muffler as warehouse manager in 1977. Upon being hired, the owner of united muffler and his associate liked the logo Wayne presented for Interstate Tire. The owner and his associate took out the tire and inserted a muffler creating Interstate Muffler. Wayne Sipe purchased the business from his employer a few months after opening in downtown Staunton Virginia in June 1979. Wayne opened a second location in downtown Waynesboro, Virginia in May 1997. It is known today as Interstate Muffler Company and is registered with the USPTO as a National and International Trademark for the name and logo in the automotive retail and repair industry.
