Decided to stop here with my husband and 2 other family members on Saturday afternoon. While my food was ok, one of us had a horrible experience. One member of our party of four ordered the fajitas and when it was delivered it had a long black hair in the food. We told the waiter when he finally came back with our silverware and he didn’t even apologize. Just took it back and another one was delivered once we were almost finished with our meal. The waiter came back to deliver the ticket, leaned on the extra chair and said«how’s your hairless fajitas?». I was in total shock. I couldn’t believe he said that. My husband and I put out our card but the family member with fajitas was still eating. The waiter stood there, once again leaning on the chair, waiting for him to pay his ticket. I mean who does that? He received his food after the rest of us… Give him a chance to eat! Needless to say we will NEVER return to this place. It felt as though we were not welcome. We are from Lexington, only a 30 minute drive to Staunton so if the service was better we would return.

I love this place. It’s pretty cheap and delicious Mexican food. Although, it’s not the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten, it is the best Staunton has. If you are in the Staunton area and wanting Mexican food, Baja Bean is definitely the place to go!

Stopped in here while wandering around downtown Staunton. Food was decent but wasn’t that noteworthy. Service was good. Great value for how much food you get.

I love this restaurant. The food is fabulous and always arrives quickly. The staff is super friendly and while the décor is hideous, the restaurant is always clean. The décor isn’t as important as cleanliness, hospitality and good food. Every dish I’ve tried was fabulous. Suggestion, be adventurous. You will find delicious gems here.

From the moment we walked in we knew this place was going to be good. We were immediately greeted and after about 30 seconds the waitress was there with menus. When we saw the salsa and chips we were shocked because of how fresh it looked, tasted just as fresh! Our dinner came out and looked great with gigantic portions. I ordered the tamales and a chile relleno… The tamales were good but OMG the chile relleno was superb! My husband ordered the spicy combo burrito and he loved it as well. Since we’re on the road just passing through we could not order a beer but they had a really great selection! I would recommend this place to anyone; I think it’s a great place with excellent food, great drink choices, and very friendly, efficient staff.

The following may perhaps be unfair. I’m Mexican, therefore, I hold Mexican restaurants to a very high standard. I was not satisfied at all. The food is disgusting! I got the vegan burrito(plate) which was too salty. Worst vegan and Mexican food experience I’ve ever had.

This place is dirty. I could write my name in the dust above the beadboard wall. After dusting wash this place down. Paint a little. Fish tacos average or below. It dripped(lime juice?) Fix it. Black beans had a very bitter aftertaste, tasted like institutional food. Salsa was not. Guacamole ok just a tiny bit for the money, however. Rice very dry, had a suspicion it was not fresh. College kid hangout, I guess it serves that purpose.

Nice people, cute place but food is far from great. Salsa is more like pico and tasteless. Asked for hotter salsa and they brought something in a plastic cup that was anything but spicy. Tried the hot burrito. Again, not hot at all and was kinda sweet. Overall, food was ok, but don’t expect a lot of flavor or heat.

Awesome place to get drinks. Totally different than Baja Bean Co in Richmond. very clean. Packed on a Saturday for a college town without college students. nachos are on point, barkeep knows how to make a drink.

Excellent food at reasonable prices. Definitely try the Chili Relleno. It takes them several days(yes, days!) to prepare them and it shows. Way better than the ones you get at your run of the mill Mexican restaurants. And the Quesadilla 5 – 0(sausage, pineapple, and corn salsa) was delicious. Highly recommended for lunch in town.

Decent food, great margaritas, and really fun staff. This place is dive-y, but it is in a neat spot, it is vegan and g-free friendly, and we got in right away. The worst thing is that their bar/lounge is smoking and the smell wafts to the dining area a bit. Hence, the dive-y ness. I would be back and order something else, my enchilada wasn’t my favorite, but it was okay.

Excellent food. Vegan friendly with good size portions. Food was very tasty and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Hubby wanted to add ground beef to his enchiladas and loved them. The burrito del Salud was very good and huge! Great atmosphere with a cantina next door that has entertainment. Would love to visit again.

Really really really bad food. I couldn’t eat most of it, the black beans in particular were inedible(no seasoning at all). My husband had bits of black hard stuff in his burrito, so hard would break your teeth, looked like old grease from a frier. The servers seemed nice, although the service was incredibly slow(and when we wanted check we had to go and find someone, despite fact restaurant was empty). What a waste of time, money, and calories.

Food is good but service is slower than molasses. After 20 minutes of waiting for my check, I had to ask another server for assistance.

I was here yesterday when I was in town with a group to see a production at the Blackfriars Theatre(completely worth the trip). We didn’t realize it didn’t open until 12, but when it did, it immediately filled — but those working didn’t seem thrilled. Since there were around eight of us, we took a table in situated in the middle. I got the pork pesto enchiladas and the Merlotrita(I was hesitant at first, but then ordered two more…). My boyfriend had the Surf Quesadilla(which was declines– he loved the honey flavor) and the spicy Bloody Mary. He’d give it four stars. I was going to give it four stars, but decided to knock it down because of the service, which only became good when we started to understand our waiter’s short personality. Our food took a lot longer to get to us than another party(who was with us) sitting on the side. And, once I had my food, it was cold. Once it was hot again, though, it was fantastic. There was also a pretty impressive sticker shock when it came time to pay the check — watch the drinks! All in all, a good meal, but no wow factor.

One star because my pesto burrito was good. My friend got a spicy, super hot burrito and it was disgusting. I couldn’t even finish it. It was a sweet hot sauce and had something inside that tasted like cigarettes. Get the pesto burrito. Also the margaritas were SUPERSWEET which I liked. But they should not be that sweet. Our server was nice. You probably shouldn’t come here.

If you like a slightly dive-y/college-y vibe with your Mexican this is that place to go. YUM! The chili rellenos made my Colorado-native heart happy. It tasted like home! Chips were warm and salsa/pico was fresh. The Poppeye burrito(extra $ 2 for subbing a veggie chicken patty for the meat) was so good that I ate the whole thing, I usually eat ½ my dinner and take the other ½ home. Baja Tostada Salad was a bunch of salad parts on a fried flour tortilla; for $ 5 you get exactly what you pay for. That plus a beer and a generous cup of soup(he also topped the extra red sauce from the chili rellenos) was enough food for my hubby. Bonus points for the Colorado tap takeover for making us really feel at home on our road trip!

My husband and I came here while on vacation and it was a cheap meal that filled the whole, but wasn’t anything to write home about. I got the pork enchiladas and my husband got the fish tacos. Both didn’t have a lot of flavor. The chips and salsa are also more like chips and pico. The server was nice and friendly. Definitely a good option if you are hungry and just need a quick fix.
