Up In Smoke

I only smoke cigars maybe a couple of times a year i.e. birthdays, anniversaries, relatives visiting from out of town.
Found this charming little smoke shop that sells roughly 50 imported and domestic cigars. It is in the Bullshead section of Staten Island right on Richmond Avenue across the street from a firehouse.
Since I do not smoke cigars very often I am picky about the brands I choose. I have one of those special occasions coming up, visiting family in Arizona. Two cousins that were in my wedding party 5 years ago. The brand that we smoked then and I purchased now is called Portofino Macanudo which is sold in a cedar lined cylinder to help keep it fresh.
The place was kind of empty today so I was able to speak to a lovely young lady named Angelina who gave me a tour of the shop and a little history. Up in Smoke opened up about 6 years ago and is one of a dying breed of smoke shops outside of Manhattan.
The first floor is the walk in humidor where the stock is kept. They do offer hand rolled cigars that are brought in from New Jersey in a weekly basis but I wasn’t sure it would stay fresh for the long plane ride out West.
Up to the second floor we went where they had a pool table, card table and about 20 leather chairs where you can sit and chill with friends. Angelina also informed me that it is BYOB as long as your containers are sealed. They have a small refrigerator downstairs to keep things cold if needed.
Prices are very reasonable. I got my stogies for $ 9 a pop. I highly recommend this place if in the area and like to smoke a good cigar.

Great atmosphere, comfortable lounge chairs, decent cigar selections (house blend cigars are great). Rob was very helpful in suggesting a cigar geared towards my taste. Very friendly atmosphere! Looking forward to going back again!

Great atmosphere, excellent quality cigars. There’s usually a smile on the people’s face and there are more than enough event to keep you busy throughout the year.
