Great value. Paying under $ 7.00 for first run movies can’t be beat. Some reviewers have complained that it’s not as updated looking as other theatres on the island and is in an older shopping center. But it’s in decent repair and sufficiently clean. What more can you expect for the price! The staff is extremely friendly with a good attitude. That in itself is worth an extra star.

UA (UNITED ARTISTS) HYLAN PLAZA 5 is a movie theater located in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, NY.
It was there where I gathered with some friends to screen a fantastic film. But was even more fantastic that we enjoyed the film in 3D. You are given a pair of glasses as you purchase your tickets.
Below is my film review:
THE FINEST HOURS is an incredible tale of heroic preparations and movingly beautiful, yet thrilling. The impact of the drama and love reflected in this film will leave the core of your heart crying out for solace and elation, as it was based on actual events.
It was 1952, when the SS Pendleton’s human cargo had to be recused by the U. S. Coast Guard. The ship broke in half during rough seas and put the lives of the men in extreme danger, as they went through extraordinary measures to survive and return home to their loved ones.
I highly recommend that you go see this movie. You will no doubt be amazed.
FYI: Did you know that the SS Pendleton was built in Portland, OR. cira, 1944.

Nothing can beat these prices, especially for a matinée show. However, be warned… The address takes you to the back of the building, be sure to enter from the shopping center.
Comfortable reclining seats and delicious popcorn make up for the dingy environment.

Recently, I went with my son to catch a movie while my wife had her hair done and I must say if you live fairly close to this theater it can’t be beat: The price is great the staff is friendly and the film projection quality is excellent. The individual theaters are cozy and the only negative aspect is that the bathrooms need to be updated and cleaned more thoroughly. I still gave it five stars because of the price and it’s so close to home.

I’m a Staten islander an I love me some shopping, great when it’s all in one area. Parking is always good Kmart is my favorite spot telco dollar tree chase models toys r is, even the movie theater which isn’t that great but cool for a cool matinae flick.
I mean all in all whatever you need is here, pathmark which unfortuentleny going out of business an not to far away is home goods, Sally’s an a bunch of other shopping.

One of the main reasons I love this place was for their pricing.
It also helps that this was the first theater I had ever been to and seen a movie at. It was Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts with my mom. This location had always been so good to me, their pricing was my favorite. It’s like $ 6, if you go during the day. Pretty clean if you ask me and you don’t look at the floor. Can’t beat that!

I accidentally purchased tickets for the day before I wanted to see the movie, not realizing until I arrived at the theater. The staff at the box office were really helpful and reissued me tickets for that day’s showing.

If you want ‘fancy’ you won’t get it here. But with these prices I’m not complaining in the least.

It’s not as bad as people make it seem, you get what you pay for. There’s a reason why the tickets here are the cheapest in the state. It’s been a long time since I got tickets this cheap ($ 5.50 before 6pm, and $ 8.50 at night)

When I’m here all I’m thinking is «This place is awful, who would come here? Why am I here? Well, it’s pretty cheap, so there’s that.»
It’s is in a plaza, the same plaza that has a suit fitting place, dollar tree, Huntington, etcetera, so it’s in a pretty odd location. Needless to say people don’t really come here too often. This place is so small that I have nothing to compare it too. Dollar tree is bigger than this place. However, the prices for tickets are pretty cheap, but not cheap enough for most people to trade in their regal movies card. Even though regal movie theaters is a bit pricier, it’s huge and amazing.

I love this theater! The before 6:00 tickets are only $ 6.00! Most theaters are $ 9.00! Yes it can be dusty sometimes but the staff are great not like the stupid «Atrium Theater» staff. I was sold out for the Lego Movie and they reserved a ticket for me! Picture quality was great! Love it! 91⁄2 out of

Decent neighborhood movie new seats and improved picture quality. Just avoid the snack bar, this is where they get you ! Medium popcorn and bottle of water was 12 dollars, totally ridiculous. Eat before you go there, then it is worth the price of admission.

This is hands-​down one of the cheapest places in the tri-​state area to see a movie. $ 5.50 before dark and $ 8.50 after, you must be kidding me! You sneeze in the vestibule of Manhattan Loews or Regal and they charge you $ 20.00…
At Hylan UA, the lobby and interior theaters are slightly updated, but overall feel a bit dark and dingy. This turns a majority of islanders away, leaving a perfectly manageable movie theater to all your regular, cost-​efficient folk. It’s the perfect place to come to escape terrible parking, big crowds, and rowdy teenagers.
Arrive with low expectations and leave having seen a movie someplace other than your couch.

If the tickets weren’t so cheap, the rating would probably be lower. But $ 6 for a ticket? I haven’t seen such a thing at a major chain since the 90’s.
I believe it is only so cheap for shows before 6 PM, but that is still great. It’s also a UA/​Regal, so you know the popcorn is really good and you get the free refills on your concession items.
It is kind of hidden and tucked away in the corner of a mini-​mall, and the screens are pretty small. But at less than half the price of tickets today, there’s really not much you can complain about here.

This is a really getto movie theater… It’s really hard to spot… it’s located all the way in the corner… to watch a movie is pretty cheap. 8.50. I haven’t watched a movie for 8.50 in yearssss… The place is kinda dirty and confessing to find the theater your suppose to go into… The chairs are kinda uncomfortable but what do u aspect when the movies are so cheap… Not that many people come here to watch movies. so you don’t really have to worry about a crowed theater… the staff is ok… this is a regal movie theater so remember your regal card! After the movie I went to the restroom it was disgusting… I mean I don’t understand why there’s stuff all over the place… Just disgusting and the bathroom felt sticky… that’s kinda disgusting… they should really clean the bathrooms. yes there is parking!

The memories at this place defiantly can not be replaced. I’ve been going to this theater for about 5 years now and not much has changed. I remember sneaking into my first rated R movie at this theater and that was a fun time! The only thing that has really changed was the ticket booth. Now before you enter the movie they check your ticket to make sure you paid, before they didn’t. The only thing i can’t complain about is the prices on the tickets. $ 5.50 for one ticket is actually incredibly cheap. The only thing is the snacks and drinks. Those are ridiculously over priced! I mean $ 5 for a medium popcorn isn’t bad, but $ 3.75 for a water?! That’s too much, i would defiantly recommend eating before coming here or buying snacks at dollar tree, other than that a little fixing needs to be done and it’ll be really good!

Small, limited movie selection, subpar staff… However, tickets for movies are dirt cheap! I mean $ 5.50 for a matinée and i think $ 8 at night, that is simply unbeatable!
Don’t come here looking for a luxurious movie experience, but do come here to catch a movie no frills attached. Once again with prices that cheap can you really complain?

Can’t rate the movie theater itself, but every time I go to the Hylan Plaza in my neighborhood, there is a disgraceful amount of trash and litter in front of the United Artist Theater. The trash can appears to have room so it is possible that someone may have tipped it over. But since it’s in front of the United Artist Theater, I am wondering if they are responsible for cleaning up the mess. If that’s not the case, why don’t all the business owners in the Hylan Plaza combine their resources to have someone police the area and keep it clean. Aside from hating the eyesore it is myself, it’s totally embarrassing if you happen to have an out-​of-​town visitor and you need to go to that mall. Litter may seem like a little thing, but I think it represents a decline in the neighborhood, along with pawn shops and fortune tellers!

Honestly the worst movie theater I’ve been to.
Super run-​down, dirty, small.
Only go if you’re already in the area.
I don’t see any redeeming qualities about this theater. I came here a few times as a kid and once in high school because it was the only theater still playing the movie I wanted to watch (I forget what it was now).
The good part is, no lines. It was empty the last time I went.
