The West Shore Inn

I live very close to this restaurant but have not eaten here in years. It is a local establishment that I would refer to as consistently good! I made a reservation for a Thursday night, not realizing they had a prime rib special which meant the line was out the door. This was a great sign for me, long lines mean there is something worth waiting for. I was seated rather quickly with my group of 3. We each ordered the prime rib special which is enough food for 8 as well as the soup, sides AND dessert that comes with the special. I must say other than the sides coming out way after the main dish arrived the service was fabulous but the food was even better. I highly recommend having dinner at the West Shore Inn & if you are a prime rib fan come on a Thursday, you will NOT be disappointed.

Had a delicious Cajun steak wrap with cheddar and onions from the lunch special menu. Steak was juicy and not chewy or fatty. Plus the lunch special included a nice salad with it. Service was great and price is definitely affordable for the portions you get. Will definitely be returning!

Perfect throughout the years. Been back and forth since my teen years in the 80’s. Wait staff was right on top of their jobs. Drinks and eats were perfect. Lisa was like having a new friend to find what we were hungry for. Great time.

First time I’ve ever eaten at the West Shore Inn. Ordered to start the spicy chipotle wings… cooked well need more flavor. Then ordered the porterhouse with sweet potato fries… steak was cooked amazing, and very flavorful. Sweet potato fries tasted great. But the desert was just magical, ordered the pecan pie with ice cream. The pecan pie was homemade by an old man in the back, I want to steal him, take him home and force him to make me pecan pie!!!

Good place for a gathering and I think its a place to repeat.

Excellent food! Had a variety of seafood teaser appetizers along with escargot. Had the queen cut prime rib for dinner. All delicious and service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!

This place has always had awesome food ever since i was two. The service here was always great. Will come back soon

Hi everyone, just visited this place, nice and clean! Good and fast service! Got grilled salmon, fillet minion tips I believe it called Vulcan steak, and kids pasta with Alfredo sausage! Everything looks good taste fine as well! Nice experience will come back for sure! Thanks

Food was terrific. Service was terrible. And this is coming from a waitress. At a minimum I tip, 20 percent, but I barely tipped 10 percent tonight because of the terrible service. They were rude, unattentive and condencending.
Update — I really appreciated the owner reading and responding to the review. And again, the food was terrific, so I’m changing the rating based on the food and the owners responsiveness.

Well, where to start. I’ve just eaten here approximately a half-​hour ago on a Saturday night.
I must say from all of the reviews it looked like a great place to get a steak. I’ll get right to the point and say it was pretty bad for a steakhouse. I’ve had the Calamari for an appetizer. It was very rubbery and bland. Almost no taste to it whatsoever. Very disappointing.
Then for my entrée I’ve had the surf and turf. The lobster tail was very tough. Hard to cut and bite into. The steak was very dry as well. The asparagus that was served with it was very mushy and unseasoned.
I have eaten at places at the same price range as this and they were of much higher quality. I am disappointed at best. On top of the less than mediocre food was the horrible atmosphere. The place was extremely loud. So loud to the point where I was having a headache and you have to yell at the person in front of you to just hear what they’re saying. It’s definitely not a place to bring to bring a date. It’s more on the family restaurant side with the kids jumping around and screaming while the adults kick back glasses of wine.
Our table wobbled as we were eating as well. That should have been the first sign to get up and leave. The staff was pretty friendly and quick which was good. Still I’m very disappointed at the quality and atmosphere. The food was the type of quality you’d expect from a place that would be 20−30% cheaper. All of these properties had the makings of a chain restaurant instead of some local, privately owned steakhouse that’s toted as being high quality.
I honestly do not know how this place got a lean 4 out of 5 stars. I was actually shocked and disappointed to find out it was this poor. I had honestly expected better.

The meat was good. The service was polite. The prices high.

Came here with my sister for a late lunch. First impression its a little dark inside. We have order two lunch special: Cajun chicken sandwich and shrimp and mushroom with penne in creamy Masala suace. The pasta came with soup or salad, we chose soup, and they had beef and barley soup. My sister thought that the soup was pretty good. As you can see the portuon of the food is really good, and both the sandwich and the the pasta are really tasty. The only thing I didn’t like as much is the Masala sauce, it is very tasty, but definitely on a sweet side. At the end we ordered an apple crumb pie with ice cream for desert. It was also pretty good. Over all we will definitely come back again.

This is one of the last good ol’ mom & pop American steakhouses. I love the neighborhood vibe, love that I can get a great meal in any price range, and I love the laid back super cool owners. Highly recommended!

Great food. Professional & Corteous service. Our waiter Mike was great. I had a NY Strip Steak and it was perfect. This restaurant is a hidden gem. I will go back soon.

Just absolutely hammered the lobster roll sliders, I would’ve taken a picture of them but they where devoured the instant they hit the table. Hopefully they stay on the menu permanently! My wife who doesn’t eat seafood even liked them!

Very nice place for date, the food served with super high quality! We order steak and we have got the side in a separate dish!!! The onions soup is Highly recommended!!!
The place is a little pricy though but trust me it worth it!

steaks and seafood priced like in the city $ 30+ Steaks– porterhouse is alrite, ribeye is prolly the best– but I’ve taste better. Scallops fried are ok, good portion.
Décor is more like a bar feel and old fashioned. Decent food.
***appetizers are the best– fried calamari fresh n large in portion. And the mussels in garlic.

Wow this is a gem … steaks are fantastic. … (in my opinion better then most in the city)
This place at first looks old with its dark wood motiff … but as we spend time here we realized this a clean and well run place service is absolutely 4 stars …
What we ordered
Prime rib: (holy batman this is a good deal!!! at $ 17.99 thrudsay night special cooked to exactly what we wanted and the best … taste…
Porter house: anther great choice order it med rare and mouth watering …
Zuppa di clams: average but good … a little pricey for what u get
Stuff mushooms: naaaaa not reccomemd good but to much bread crumbs …
Overall if you are in staten island or passing through this is the place to come to for steak !!!

Great steak. On Mondays its buy one steak get one half off.
Seafood was really good too, enjoyed the jumbo shrimp stuffed with crabmeat.
Good sangria and theres a full shelf bar and beer.
Very casual, much older crowd and couples, so laid pack.
Dark dimmed lights, boot seating and tables, nice fireplace also.
Big entrees so you can def. share or take home a doggy bag.
Prices are decent and they also offer a early lunch/​dinner special everyday.
Parking is pretty good too.

I have been eating at the West Shore Inn since I was very young. Every time I go there I request the same waitress (I think her name is Chris. she’s been there for years). She always remembers me and is so pleasant. I usually begin with the steamed clams. Then I order a house salad and prime rib. The prime rib is exceptional. It’s enough food for the next night and tastes delicious! I highly recommend visiting this local restaurant that’s been on the island for many years.
