After serving as a Prosecutor in Manhattan, Mr. Smalls began his career as a criminal defense attorney. Since that time, Mr. Smalls has been defending the freedom of people who have been accused of violating the law.

Business Owner

Matthew R. Smalls is a highly trained and well respected legal professional. In law school, Mr. Smalls was accepted as a Judicial Clerk in the Manhattan Supreme Court. He was also honored to be selected as a Legal Intern in the Major Narcotics Investigations Bureau of the Kings County District Attorney Office, as well as the Investor Protection Bureau of the Attorney General of the State of New York.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Smalls was one of a small number of successful applicants accepted into the prestigious Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney under the Honorable Robert M. Morgenthau.

Mr. Smalls later left the District Attorney’s Office and began his career as a private criminal defense attorney. Since 2007, Mr. Smalls has fought for his clients throughout New York State.
