The Historic Old Bermuda

I would give this place a –1 however the venue itself is beautiful. I first came here for an engagement party, beautiful that’s what it was but the food was terrible. It was a basic buffet of cold cuts, cheese, pasta, chicken cutlet etc that we had. The Patsy’s that I picked up was a basic pene in tomato sauce with a little cheese. It was horrible like they just boiled the pasta and didn’t take the time to drain the water out of the pene and just slapped some tomato sauce and cheese in it. The chicken cutlet parmigiana was awful it wasn’t coked well and had little sauce on it and the cheese liked like a piece of polli-​o string cheese was melted on top by placing in in a microwave. Day after this party I didn’t feel well let’s just leave it at that.
I also attended a wedding here, hoping that they have gotten a little better than the last time I was there. I was wrong, again the atmosphere, flower arrangement, was beautiful the food terrible. First the drinks got some pineapple juice with something awe full it was so sweet you couldn’t even taste any pineapple. On to the food the salad was bland had no dressing on it like they threw some romaine on it and a piece of bread. The pasta was alright not great could have used some vegetables cause all they put it was onions and the sauce tasted like it was Prego. I got the Prime rib as an entire, Medium the thing was way over medium it was dry like the Sahara desert very bland like there was no seasoning put on it before they cooked it the thing was hard and chewy. Would you guess it that I got sick again? But this time during the wedding? Embarrassing yes. I hope none of my friends have any event here in the future

I went to A Hunting dinner/​wild game night and the food was excellent. The staff was friendly and the managers walked around keeping a eye on all working and partying. The food was unbelievable, and so were the hosts. I had a great time.

I had my wedding here — it was a small brunch fall themed wedding — everything from the décor to the staff to the food made my day perfect ! I am so happy — cannot wait to go back for a brunch soon

We came over to Staton Island just to go to the old Bermuda Inn for the Sunday day Brunch and we had a grand time. Excellent service, great food, and an interesting journey on public transportation. Highly recommend the Sunday Brunch

I’ve been here for several parties and I hosted one here as well. I coordinated a party with Josephine and she was very helpful and made me feel more at ease with the details. I went to several restaurants to have a small gathering and was being charged more or the same as the Bermuda Inn so clearly they were my best choice! The wait staff is also very professional. The food is also pretty decent. I really love the structure of the place and all of the furnishings and décor. The venue is beautiful. My favorite room is the one upstairs with balcony access and The decorations. It gives you a feel like you’re in a elegant mansion. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the locAtion of the place which isn’t all that great but the venue is nice.

I’ve been to the Old Bermuda Inn on numerous occasions and it is a nice place to have small parties. I have went for a sweet sixteen, and an engagement party. Both parties were nicely decorated and have nice space. The staff who worked there were very nice and seemed happy to be there. I personally wouldn’t advise to have a wedding here.
The food was just okay. Nothing to rave about. Overall, nice venue for small parties.

Went there for dinner last night. We were there last time 10 years ago and the food was great. Unfortunately 10 years later not so much. The salad and the appetizers were pretty spectacular but the entrees and desserts were a real dud. The scampi sauce tasted like dishwater. The Bermuda Triangle was equally blah. They have live entertainment which they charge you for in the dinner price and the band is excessively loud. The average age of the patrons was around 65, so maybe that is why the music is so loud. Patrons obviously can’t hear well. Sadly my party couldn’t hear eac other speak over the music. The décor is just as beautiful as I remember, but that is not enough to encourage me to return. I can only give it 1 star. Too bad.

I’ve never been a fan of venues with too many party rooms and several parties going on at the same time, I always feel you are not getting the best of the best. We waited at the bar where they had set up some sangria for the guest, tasted like Kool Aid.
We were welcomed to the dining room and right off the back I knew it wasn’t going to be good, the table settings were wet from the waiters putting water on the table, which they should have noticed before hand and clean it up.
You had the choice of salmon, chicken and prime beef. The first course, the salad was over dressed, the alfredo pasta sauce dish lack flavor, the chicken dish I had was ok, but needed a lot of salt and pepper to being out any flavor, hey at least the chicken was cooked, my bf had the salmon but once again, you had to salt the crap out of it get some sort of flavor, but it was cooked well. I didn’t have any of the desert since I don’t like vanilla pudding cake.
The bathrooms were all cleaned and cleaned every 30 mins, which is good for a venue with several parties going on.
The staff was friendly but you almost felt rushed on some times and ignored on the other time.

The Historic Old Bermuda Inn is a traditional venue, perfect for any occasion, including meetings. I highly recommend stopping by for breakfast as the Stuffed French Toast is absolute perfection!

I attended a wedding here recently and I have nothing but rave reviews for this establishments. The servers were all very friendly and helpful, the food was divine, and the open spacing made for a great time on the dance floor with the help of the company Partners In Sound Productions.

The food was great as were the waitstaff. There are stories this place is haunted but that added to the atmosphere.

Had my wedding here could not have asked for anything more! The entire staff were professional, helpful and took care of everything for us. The food was fabulous and the ambiance was classy and clean.

I just had my bridal shower here and it could not have gone any better. We had the downstairs room and it was the perfect size for my party. The food was delicious and plenty of it, and the service was impeccable. They were extremely professional and attentive and made the shower go by smoothly. Everyone was commenting to me how cute the place is, and what a great time they were having. My family always has their parties here but this is the first time where I was the guest of honor so I was truly able to appreciate just how great this place is. I am so happy I had my shower here. It was an all around pleasurable experience from beginning to end and I certainly plan on having more parties here in the future.

Nice decent place to have a little gathering celebration on whatever occasion it may be. a lot of rooms sectioned out, upstairs and downstairs.

We have had dinner here, both prix fixe and a’la carte. Brunch was our fare today. It was a 1:00 PM offering of breakfast and lunch/​dinner items. Come hungry. For $ 26 you get all you can eat, juice, coffee and a complimentary, screw driver, mimosa or bloody mary. Breakfast cereals, bagels and lox, pancakes, custom made omelettes, bacon, sausage, muffins, ham, roast beef, baked ziti, grilled vegetables, the list goes on. Make reservations!!!

I have been to many events here, from day to night time parties and I always feel like it’s the same. The food is mediocre at best. They have a very basic menu, whether it’s a buffet or sit down. There do have many rooms, so it can fit your needs, whether you plan on having a big or small event. I do like the décor and definitely like the upstairs room best. It’s very open and pretty with the balconies. The staff is friendly, but parking can be a headache. Definitely get there early to get a spot!

Came here for a wedding Saturday. I always thought this hall was beautiful. Cocktail hour was downstairs and then the reception upstairs. There are MANY MANY STAIRS IN THIS PLACE sucks for women in heels ! But it is beautiful the wrap around staircases. Upstairs the room is so spacious and has a balcony and even a tent for the colder parties to be outside still but still warm. The food was good as well. It was a great night and a great experience since I haven’t been there since like 2007.

I have now attended enough parties at OBI to say I am a fan. I have been to a 30^th birthday party, an engagement party and most recently my goddaughter’s Christening. This place is HUGE, lots of different rooms to choose from. I like that the décor is classic yet well kept, definitely not outdated. The room upstairs was very pretty and spacious. There is a room downstairs that has a café/​plaza kind of vibe with windows with shutters and balconies around the room. I found the buffet to be the meal I enjoyed the most even though the food was very salty. The staff were very accommodating and friendly which is a huge plus. The few parties I’ve been to they’ve brought in their own cake and desserts but I know the house bakery is Renato’s Pastry Shoppe on Forest which is delicious! I recommend getting to any event early to avoid the horrendous parking situation.

came here after my uncle’s funeral with my whole family. first they bring out the bread and no butter?! then they bring out the salad and literally 20 minutes later when we are done eating our salads they bring out the salad dressing. WHAT?! ARE YOU KIDDING?!? and then it took another 45 minutes to bring out our main courses. way too long. the wait staff didn’t seem to really care or want to be bothered either. horrible service. too bad because the place itself was beautiful.

I was here today on a repast and I must say I am a little disappointed. It looks 4 star from first glance and things went so smoothly at first but it all fell apart.
The salads are skimpy and while the primi piatti came out, the time between that and the entrée was about 35 minutes. Where are the bread plates? We had none and we had to leave our rolls in the salad. Also, you should have the water glasses filled. Just putting a pitcher on a table of 10 after they’ve been in the hot sun is not enough and to pour it themselves and run out with no refill reflects badly on basic service, I asked for a fork, I did not get one so I used a spoon. Also, we had *one* bread basket for the whole table of 12. Six pats of butter and one basket on a table of 12?
The only people who gave a damn and were awesome were Kathleen and Peter (P is cute too!) but everyone else seemed annoyed. The food and service were subpar and I would NOT ever recommend. The venue is gorgeous but the service lacks.

I just threw my aunt’s baby shower here and overall I was satisfied. There were some things I didn’t like but the good definitely outweighed the bad.
The place itself is very nice. It has a mixture of old school and modern décor, which I actually like. It’s also really big. There’s a lot of different rooms to choose from when planning a party. The bathrooms are so nice. Some of the nicest public bathrooms I’ve been to. Very clean.
The staff is superb. They really do take care of everything from beginning to end. The maitre d’ for our party was Nicholas and he was the best. He always seemed to be there whenever we needed anything.
Throwing a party here is pretty cheap also. We had a total of 32 at the party and it came to about $ 1000. That included your choice of linens, a rocking chair for the mom-​to-​be to open gifts, salad, bread, pasta, main entrée, cake, unlimited soda, coffee, and tea, and a champagne punch. The only thing we had to take care of were favors and centerpieces. They could have provided simple candles for the table but we wanted to do our own centerpieces.
The cake they provide is from Renato’s Bakery on Forest Avenue. I am not a fan of bakery cakes at all, I def. prefer homemade, but the cake was actually very good. We had a chocolate cake with canoli cream and chocolate mousse inside and topped with whipped cream. I loved it! You are able to bring in your own cake if you’d like but you definitely won’t be disappointed if you go with the cake they provide.
While you can bring in your own cake or cupcake, they are strict about other things to bring. We wanted to do a small candy station but that was not allowed at all.
I would say the food is the weakest part of this place. The caesar salad was good, as was the penne vodka. It was my main dish that I had a problem with. I had the chicken piccatta with twice baked potato and broccoli and carrots. Most of the food was very bland.
The other really big complaint I had here was the parking situation. They were throwing about 5 different parties at once and did not have enough room in their lot to accommodate everyone. The guests were basically left to their own devises to find a spot. My pregnant aunt had to park in the parking lot across from the place. That’s definitely something they should try to fix.

We just had our wedding here on March 29^th, 2013. It was amazing! We had our ceremony here, downstairs in their chapel. It was gorgeous. The staff was so helpful, and allowed us to customize our entire day. Anything goes over there! We had a Van Halen themed rock wedding, and the crazier, the better at OBI. They were completely accomodating, and made our day amazing. The staff are so lovely and work hard to make your vision a reality. We also rented the «Romeo and Juliet» suite at the wedding cottage B&B on the property– we took getting ready pics there all day and then slept there at night after the festivities. We had the luck of gorgeous weather. The food was outrageous and we have pretty tough critics in our family! Everyone ate and ate in cocktail hour and took their entrees home. We even did the Venetian table and there was more amazing desserts than you could take. I had a grooms cake made by Sweet Sweet Sues in the shape of a guitar and it was delicious and flawless. OBI is also budget friendly. Our small wedding of 75 people was easily accomodated in one of their smaller rooms. They couldnt do enough for us over there. Staff was so attentive and there to help whenever I needed something. They even allowed us to go to several tastings before our event to ensure everything on our wedding day was to our liking. Our formal wedding cake came through OBI from Renatos. It was also delicious and beautiful. I cant say enough about this place. I wish we could do it all over again, and that the wedding day could last weeks. It does go SO fast. We plan to go back in the future for dinners or whatever events they are hosting there. The food speaks for itself.

I went to a bridal shower here, perfect place! They have their own parking lot, once inside they have a beautiful lobby. Many rooms, half is historic with original rooms filled with stories, other half is much newer. So much detail to appreciate! Clean, plenty of staff-​very professional place. Our group had a wonderful time!

I came here for the Holiday fair and show and the inn is gorgeous with a capital G! The fair was nice too. Lots of jewelry stands and a few booths were hawking handbags and makeup, you know the typical fair stuff.

If I only spoke on the food, I might give it three-​stars. But it’s another thing when you are a person of color daring to venture into lynch-​ville Staten Island. Good luck getting decent service here when you aren’t pale enough for the workers there.
Went here for a bridal shower. Place was alright, food was decent. I will never forget how I was made to feel there. It’s sad that people still behave this way in 2012. Sick. Folks need to be educated.

This is the place to go when one wants to stay on Si, yet still have a classy meal or go to an upscale buffet on the weekends.
They have very nice Holiday buffets (try the shrimp & rice dish, or the choc. mousse!)
They give great service & a very nice time eating out when you want to feel special.
Very friendly staff all around, as well.
We have been here for Thanksgiving day also, so that we didn’t have to cook at home & obtained a fine meal indeed.
The only thing is we liked the surrounds better in the old days, when it was like eating in the cozy rooms of a 200 year old house & not as much, like in a catering hall, but the food is stil very good!

I had my Bridal Shower here yesterday and was very happy with the food, service and décor. The reason I give 4 stars is that the parking situation is a disaster! It seems that because there are simultaneous events happening at the venue, the guests are made to fend for themselves. I had guests who had driven from as far as Massachusetts and the last thing they wanted to hear was «just go up the street and you will figure it out». Horrible thing to say to a guest. When I was told of this, I immediately mentioned it to the person handling my event. He assured me he would go and speak to the individual handling the front of the venue.
All in all it was a beautiful event and day. I cannot stress how amazing the food was and the staff handling my event were. I am eager to use this venue again!
