Pinot’s Palette Staten Island

I am here for a birthday party and just fell in love! what a beautiful place painting is so much fun and if I were here with friends I would be enjoying wine I am with my 7 year old niece for birthday party and we are having a blast! The place is gorgeous the staff is awesome! This was a fun place!!!

Arlene was absolutely wonderful. Sweet as can be! I took my daughter (for her 11^th birthday) and 2 friends here for a Saturday morning painting class. First, she let them pick the music to be played before the class started. She also wrote «Happy birthday Lillian» on the dry erase board and announced to everyone that it was her birthday. She also gave Lillian a «Pinot’s Palette» pen (I complimented it and then she gave one to my daughter). She made it so special even though I only had 3 girls at the class. Plus she was by herself and not only instructed, but set up, and served people drinks. They painted «Neon Butterflies», and it’s such a nice picture. I am already a repeat customer but Arlene made this time so special for my daughter that I will make an effort to come here more often. Unbelievable hospitality. Also, I originally booked for 4 girls and had to cancel 1 (2 days before the class) and had no problem doing so, Elaine was quick to issue a refund. Wonderful experience.

We went to the Brooklyn location on 13^th Ave. Six of us went (ladies night for someone’s birthday.)
We had a lovely time. I personally have no artistic talent and thought I was guided very well by the instructors.
The place is well set up with easels and supplies. The seating is a little tight but not inhibiting. They have a bar on site. Bottles of decent champagne for $ 20.
They have an area near the entrance for snacks. We brought cheeses and crackers and a cake. They have ceramic place settings which they put your name on so the other customers don’t eat your food.
You walk into a bookstore in the front which I thought was lovely.
It was a very nice experience overall.

Such a great time– either in a group or alone. Great vibe and a helpful staff.

I was at Pinots Pallet in Staten Island on Friday, ¹¹⁄₂₇. It was the first time I had been there. There were five people in my group. My daughter has been there before and was happy to recommend it. Unfortunately the instructor started a half hour late and she was not clear on giving directions. When we asked her to clarify, she just told us we were stressing and didn’t explain. We were disappointed because she did not discuss even the simplest of instructions or basic techniques such as how to hold the brush or which strokes to use. It seemed like a waste of 45 dollars since no basic artistic knowledge was gained. We were very disappointed.

Overall great experience. Did it for a ladies night, a girlfriend picked the picture. I was skeptical of my skills in the end I was happy it was fun. Mo ruined my picture but Veronica came to the rescue to save it! Def book Veronica, she super friendly and asks before she paints !

My wife took me last night for my birthday and invited all our nieces. What a great surprise. Anyhoo it was my first time painting. What a blast!!! The staff were fantastic helping us each step of the way. I totally reccomend this place as a great night out to forget all your worries. I will definitely be back.

Once you join one of Pinot’s Palette’s painting events, you will return often — A new excitement is to watch the Pinot’s monthly calendar to select the dates based on the artwork you wish to create. You will walk away with such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and will have an creation to be proud to display. And the wine selection is great. Wonderful time with a friend or with a group. The wine selection is great and I like that you can bring your own snacks.
Staff is lovely and the paint instructors are very patient and really do a great job at getting your painting to look great

I enjoyed having any entertainment close to home, so that was a plus!
The staff has great personalities, willing to help and joke around during class
The staff is flexible when it comes to wanting to use different colors

Personal cons:
VERY VERY expensive for such a small canvas
I think it ran on too long (My session was 3 hours)
The instructor was not very clear on instructions until after everyone painted incorrectly and then had to use a paper towel to erase the mistakes (which made the painting look bad)
I asked to sit next to a friends and came and found my reservations included two of my friends sitting across from me (which ruins the ‘party’ feeling when your talking over canvas’)
They are in desperate need of
:new brushes
:aprons being cleaned
:new cups so the dried paint does not affect it

I have been to Pinots Palette a handful of times already and have had a great experience at each and every one. The first time I went, I came with my boyfriend for a couples night. It was really fun and cute to see all these couples, pairs, and friends working together to create a masterpiece. Since then, I have gone back for my birthday as well as other friends bdays and girls nights. It is always a good time with lots of laughs had by all.
This particular establishment has a bar with a decent selection of things to choose from. You can not bring your own as you can at others I think. The drinks are regularly priced and not jacked up because you are there. They do not supply food of any kind but you are free to bring in your own or even have something ordered and sent to them. I have done both, ordered in and brought my own.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They come around offering help and compliments throughout the night. The artist is usually fairly entertaining and does a good job of explaining and showing what needs to be done.
The space itself can get kind of tight and when it gets that full, seeing the artists picture to follow becomes more difficult. The pace of these events are usually pretty quick as well and can be overwhelming for some to keep up if they are novice.
The most annoying aspect of this location is the parking. They do not really have their own lot and the one that is next to the building holds like 4 cars. You have to park on the street which is fine except that it is usually packed with other cars for the dance studio next door as well as other businesses. You usually have to park ridiculously far away and walk which isnt so bad when its not cold or rainy. Aside from those couple of things, I have nothing bad to say.

We made reservations for Pinot’s Palette’s version of Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
I really wanted to paint this painting. Paint, not drink, not party — PAINT this painting. I’ve done other similar programs on several occasions so I’m familiar with how the events are run. I debated between Paint Nite’s version of Starry Night and Pinot’s Palette’s version, and preferred the Pinot’s Palette version since it was more similar to the actual Van Gogh.
Since the reservation form asked for seating requests I asked to be seated next to my friend «closer to the instructor». When we arrived, we found out that our seats were the second to last isle (farthest away from the instructor) with our BACKS facing the instructor. Since we asked to be closer to the instructor, wouldn’t the person filling out the seating chart realize we wanted to actually SEE the instructor? We asked to be reassigned. The person giving out seating assignments was very polite and said he’d see what he could do, but in the end he couldn’t do anything about it, so we were stuck with the instructor far behind us.
We got there about 20 – 25 minutes early, and had this been any other «paint & drink» venue we could have picked our own seat, instead of being forced to sit and watch empty seats — closer & facing the instructor — wait for the parties to arrive. During the class I had to get up and go over to the instructor, just to see what she was doing.
I understand that being a «brick and mortar» studio, the kids parties help pay the bills. But is it being unreasonable to have the children’s supplies differ from the adult supplies? The paint smocks were filled with dried encrusted paint. We have photos of us at other paint events wearing nice clean smocks — one benefit of adult only events. The smaller paint brush appeared to have been chewed up (quite difficult to get a straight line) –other people sitting at our table said their brushes were in the same shape; and the disposable plastic cups had been used and reused over and over with dried paint all over them. They’re DISPOSABLE — and can be purchased at Costco for under $ 10 for dozens of cups — can’t the adult classes paying $ 45 per head get a clean disposable water cup???
It must have been the instructor’s first time painting this particular painting — what a nice surprise that was (not!).
She followed a printed instruction list (we all know this because at the end of our time, when her painting was a bit different than the one on display, she actually told the class how they could add a colored shadow to one of the houses — like the display — although her directions didn’t say to do that!!). Instead of giving everyone one step, painting it, then giving the next direction — she gave 4 – 5 steps at once, then painted her own canvas, while the class had to catch up or ask the guys walking around for help. When she gave too many steps at once for the steeple and houses, many people in the class kept calling out «Slow down» «What are you doing» «Wait», and she had the nerve to say «people it’s just shapes». By that point I had given up trying to follow her lead. I couldn’t see her and she gave so many steps at once, so I just tried copying the display painting (even further away than she was). Evidently, she was doing that too. While painting the houses, she was very quiet as she looked back & forth from her canvas to the one on display.
I cannot tell you how disappointed I was with this experience. We’ve traveled to Hoboken, Brooklyn & NY for these painting nights. I had heard so many nice things about Pinot’s Palette in NJ, and was glad to try the one on Staten Island since I live there. My niece attended the same night with 2 of her friends. When we were discussing the event afterward, she and her friends figured they just couldn’t keep up.
The only positive feedback I can give was that the staff — the two guys that ran around and helped people out, and the bartender — were nice and friendly. I’m sure being on Staten Island, this location will do well — simply because many Staten Islander’s don’t like leaving SI. It’s a shame though that the actual experience was so sub-​par.

The instructor was great but the assistant kept talking to the bartender. Rude and not helpful. I’ll go to another location next time

There are no words to describe how much I love this place. I go at least once a month, and I always have an amazing time.
The instructors are super, and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. Eleanor is my favorite. She has helped me fix my painting numerous times. My paintings come out looking fantastic each and every time, and I am by no means artistic, lol. It’s truly a magical experience. I have my art hanging up all over my house.
The customer service is stellar. I have emailed them to request additional scheduling of classes, and not only did they email me back immediately, but they also complied and asked me if I had any painting in particular in mind! I have reached out to them on several occasions on Facebook and Twitter, and they always get right back to me!
I have taken my daughter there for mommy and me class, and we had such a blast. She wants to have her birthday party there this summer. I think her Girl Scout troop is looking to book a party there, too.
Every month, a new schedule of paintings come out. There are so many great paintings to choose from, that sometimes my friends and I have trouble deciding which night we’d like to paint. Some paintings book up pretty quickly, so it’s a good idea to book fast.
My friends and I are booked to go paint on January 31, 2015 for my birthday. We will be painting Van Gogh’s, Starry Night. I am beyond excited! I would paint with them every night if I could!

The painting here is a lot of fun and the instructors are great.
Beware of the extremely nasty manager Elaine. Even after booking and paying for a group of 18, 6 year olds a month in advance for a public school, this peach sold 2 of these children’s seats to walk ins before two members of our party could arrive. She then told the mother of our kids that there was no seats for them. When I corrected her she refused to allow the kids to sit with their party and left the new kids in their seats; and basically said find seats where you can! This is not the way to do business and these children were booked to sit together a month in advance. The owners really need to get rid of this witch, she made a lovely experience into something aggravating.

What’s better than art and wine? NOTHING! Don’t feel intimidated coming into this place. If you are not a painter, no problem. You will leave feeling like Pablo Picasso! Your allowed to bring snacks and food here and you eat before you paint. U order wine whenever you want. The instructor goes slowly step by step. The only down fall is the constant mixing of colors and u always need more paint and they have to come over to each person and distribute. Takes time. Had to wait a bit for some white paint and it set me back a step. Then I felt rushed. But overall it’s an amazing place ! Just love it. And cheap too ! About $ 35 a class !!! Enjoy artists!

Loved the open art class today. Katrina the teacher was excellent at giving instructions & ideas to paint my photo. Loved it so much going back on Sept 21 with my 17 yr old daughter.

Attended class last Friday with a few friends. Making the reservation was super easy and when we arrived we were greeted with a very warm reception from Eleanor. The painting was a little more on the difficult side but our instructor made it feel like a breeze. The bartender was super polite, and the prices were very reasonable. You can bring snacks with you to enjoy, they provide plates.
Will definitely return!

I was lucky enough to come here for a Unilocal event and had the best time! I had school until 8:15 so I arrived at 8:30-definitely way into the party. Most of the painting was almost done, but the owners and painting assistants got me all caught up and helped me paint a beautiful picture. I have no artistic ability so it’s really amazing how their step-​by-​step instructions create such a pretty and unique piece of art.
The space itself is located on a tiny street off of Arthur Kill Road. Thankfully the dancing school next door let out at 8:30 so I got a spot close by. When I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the place. There is a bar, bar top tables and a coat closet by the door. I found it spacious, considering the amount of painting stations there were and I loved the décor. There are cubbies to put your bag to keep it clean and out of the way which was a big plus.
The staff was amazing! I had their individual attention as the party dwindled down and they were so patient and friendly. I had the opportunity to speak to the owners and from their graciousness for our patronage alone I know they will be successful. I will definitely book a private party soon because I can definitely get 15 girls together for a night of fun!
Just found out there’s an app that shows you which paintings for each class during the week. Pretty cool!

Great instructor, fun vibe, everyone was very willing to help! Bar was fairly priced & many people were there to assist to make sure we were ok with each step/​paint supply. Would definitely recommend & do again!
