This has to be the worst rehab care facility in Staten Island. The medical nursing staff yes you to death. When told a patient needs medical care a doctor stated«we are not a medical facility». Their aides for the most part are kind and responsive with the usual exceptions of any facility. Four patients share one bathroom. Dingy rooms. Food is not palatable

Writing this in hopes this will put your mind at ease. I had no clue how to choose the right place for Mom’s rehab — the hospital was not helpful at all so I started looking at reviews online. This is a review of the Physical Rehabilitation Facility. This was the only place that had a bed for Mom and I was so nervous about bringing her here. I ran to check it out and the administration came out to meet me and showed me around. The top 3 didn’t do that. This place is clean, well organized and runs smoothly. Staff is wonderful and take really good care of Mom. They were so good to her at intake — very gentle. The PT rehab team is wonderful and the recreation coordinators are a lot of fun. The food? Not so good but the patients chip in for take out :). Mom is progressing and I see her getting stronger by the day. There was one bad apple — crazy aide that was verbally abusive(and I’m not using that term lightly) on the midnight shift but, I took care of that. I don’t see New Vanderbilt being any worse than the other facilities on Staten Island.

Choose somewhere else. This is an opinion, a valid opinion. There is another review somewhere here, more details.

Caring for a loved one can be a huge burden. New Vanderbilt Rehab and Care Center helped my wife recover from a hip replacement surgery. They treated her with great care and respect. The staff at New Vanderbilt really took the time to make my wife comfortable and happy. Thank you New Vanderbilt!
