We strive to provide our customers with the highest standard of quality in the areas of design, service and presentation while never forgetting value. Moravian Florist is recognized as an industry leader and has been written about in Florists’ Review and Flowers& Magazine. Our designers are often attending design classes to keep up with the current trends in our industry. Also we have several AIFD designers who help create the magnificent showroom you see today.

We do many occasion arrangements including anniversary flowers, get well ideas, metropolitan designs, new baby flowers and cemetery memorials. We also do weddings and custom designs such as soccer balls made out of flowers. We are a florist primarily but we also offer other gifts like Vera Bradley, Lenox, Godiva and various collectible items (Katherine’s Collection and Mark Roberts).

History

Established in 1928.

Moravian Florist was opened at its present location in 1928 by Xavier and Clemence Kirchhoffer. It started as a small storefront attached to the recently restored Dutch farmhouse (dating back to circa 1668). We are proud to have kept this landmark as part of Staten Island’s History. In 1946 their son George and his wife Annette joined the business and expanded it. In 1953 they added a garden center that was later closed to allow expansion for the ever growing floral business. Their sons Paul and George also continued in the tradition by joining the Moravian team.

In 1976 Paul retired and George Jr. and his wife Susie took over the running of the business. They have followed in the family tradition and in 2001 have renovated the structure as you see it today. They are also joined by the 4^th generation. Their children, George Christopher, Lisa and Michael are all involved in the day to day operations of the business.

Lisa is the great-​granddaughter of the founders of Moravian Florist. She believes in carrying on the family tradition and works day to day as the store manager.
