I had an intense sinus infection that led to a very painful ear infection. After two trips to my regular doctor’s office, where they weren’t making a big deal out of the issue, over the course of a few days, I called Dr. Miceli — he is an ear/​nose/​throat specialist. Because I was in intense pain, the receptionist squeezed me in right away and the doctor saw me within half an hour of calling for the appointment (I live around the corner). I was expecting to wait at least a day to get in, so I was impressed.
I explained to the doctor the situation, and after a quick look in my ear, he announced that my eardrum had ruptured – something two other doctors had missed. Not only that, he went above and beyond, going into detail to explain what happened and the potential ramifications. Thankfully I was all better within a week, but if I hadn’t seen Dr. Miceli when I did, I may have lost my hearing. I am indebted.
