Merry Mutts

needed to have my 3 dogs in daycare for the day. This was the first time I was putting them there and I was very nervous. I have to say my experience with dealing with Merry Mutts was fantastic! Everyone there was so nice and caring, that it made me feel very welcomed. I was so happy on how they run their business and how professional everyone was. My dogs came back so happy. They were so exhausted that they slept as soon as we got home. I definitively recommend bringing your dog there.

When I call to have my dog boarded, they are happy to hear that Kaiser is going to stay with them. They know my dog by name. That should tell you something. The assess his needs– putting his with the smaller dogs, even thought he’s a big, but shy guy. The fact that they have no cages (unless you require it) gives me peace of mind. He’s fed what and when I want and remains active during the day. Bonus for travelers, because you get a sleepy dog when you get home. Love Merry Mutts!

I love merry mutts. My dog goes there for daycare. He was very scared at first and now he’s so excited and having a great time. The staff are nurturing and really care about all the dogs. I highly recommend merry mutts. I trust them completely with my baby.

Another kudos message for Merry Mutts… I found out Friday evening that I needed to be at work in NJ the following morning by 7 a.m. Since it was a Saturday, they were not scheduled to open until 9 a.m., but they allowed me to drop off my dogs at 6:30 a.m. They also took my detailed instructions with one dog needing to go out, play for just a little bit and then be kenneled, the second one needed to eat, then go out, then play and the last one needed not to eat, go out and play. The overnight staff member was very friendly and accommodating of our craziness, and it helps me to stay out of trouble with work ;).

We started to use Merry Mutts a couple of years ago when we adopted our rambunctious pup, and we were immediately impressed. Rena and her staff clearly care about their clients, both 2 legged and 4 legged. From day one our guy has loved Merry Mutts, and whenever we head out there he seemed to know– and honestly I’m not sure if he was happier to see his doggie or human friends there. About a year ago we adopted a second rescue and the staff at MM were very helpful during the early adjustment phase, by keeping us abreast of their behaviors and interactions between each other and the other dogs. We’ve also used MM for boarding on numerous occasions (short weekend trips and more extended periods), and always we came home to clean, and healthy (albeit exhausted) pups. If you’re in their area, Merry Mutts is the way to go– especially if boarding, because they have staff ²⁴⁄₇.

We have used Merry Mutts for both boarding and grooming out two doggies. We have been very happy with the service and the animals always seem to come home happy /​none the worse for wear. Their pricing is reasonable for a facility that is clean and staffed by people who seem to care about their jobs. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my animals here again.

Merry Mutts is a God sent for our dog. Our Dog (Reece) got sick (Bordetella) at Camp Bow Wow 3 or 4 years ago even though they said all the dogs had to have their shots. So we moved to Merry Mutts. The first time we went Reece was not very playful and snapped at the dogs. But the staff was very patient with him and moved him to the small dog pen and he was much better. Also the first 2 times the staff stayed up with him all night (they said) and let him sleep in the big play pen and not the normal rooms because he was not sleeping. The staff now remembers him each time we go in there which is only 3 or 4 times a year. He now runs right toward the doggie play pen and is exhausted when he is done. The only down thing is we fill 2 cups of food per day for him and there is never any left. He doesn’t even eat that much at home. And the price is a little high. But you do get the service you want for your dog so you do leave thinking the price is worth it.

We’ve taken our 2 dogs to merry mutts for an overnight stay twice now. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making me feel completely at ease leaving my pets here. All the doggies get to play together throughout the day (based on size) and staff is on location ²⁴⁄₇. They don’t use crates and our two got to sleep together in their own «room». This is a new location and it is big and clean. Pricing is reasonable, especially considering how much space and attention the dogs get. I will certainly use Merry Mutts services again!

I took my 11 year old dog here twice. During the first time for daycare no one noticed that she never drank any water in almost 10 hours. The second and last time was on July 6 when I left her overnight. When I picked her up to go home the following evening, I was handed her dog blanket saturated and literally dripping with dog urine. Even worse, she had been left lying in a puddle of urine for so long that her skin and coat reeked of urine also. I had to give her a complete bath as soon as I got home. This so-​called dog care facility obviously employs lazy and useless staff who seem to specialize in ignoring the basic needs. AT THE VERY LEAST, someone should have rinsed off my dog with a hose and put her dog blanket in the washing machine. I paid them almost $ 75 for one night of «care» and this is how they treated my dog.

My dog, Daisy, loves Merry Mutts. I wish we lived closer because I would take her more often. Rena and her staff are awesome. One time we went on a two week vacation and left Daisy in their care and when we got back Daisy was so tired from having such a great time at Merry Mutts. I recommend Merry Mutts for your doggie daycare needs.

Rena and her staff here at Merry Mutts, I have nothing but RAVE reviews for! My CRAZY yellow labrador, who easily can be mistaken as Marley from «Marley & Me», absolutely adores this place. Granted he only gets to visit every so often but once we’re in the car and turning into the plaza where this establishment is located, he goes absolutely nuts. barking like crazy and pulling me so much to get inside and greet everyone like it would be the death of him if he didn’t.
Before I discovered Merry Mutts, I had taken my Charlie to another day care place one or two times called Camp Bow Wow. They happen to be a franchise with multiple locations scattered throughout the tri-​state NYC area and NJ but within Staten Island, is located ALL the way at the other side of the island, by the Outerbridge Crossing. which is quite a trip when you live in the Mid/​North Shore area of Staten Island.
Another thing that I love at Merry Mutts, that I didn’t quite see or feel from Camp Bow Wow and their staff, is the fact that they have experience and really understand the true temperament of a labrador, especially a young one like mine (He’ll be 3 years young in October). Unfortunately I learned the hard way, but labradors happen to be filled with an INSANE amount of energy and excitement, especially when they’re young. And true to their full name, Labrador Retriever, they especially like to retrieve things and constantly have things in their mouth. Which goes to say, if not handled correctly or not placed in the hands of people who know and understand exactly the needs of this specific breed, they can be seen as amazingly destructive dogs. And let me tell you, even at Merry Mutts, they’ve seen my Charlie’s fair share of destructiveness. (He’s ripped apart a communal dog bed/​pillow, started to chew at the door knob of the private overnight rooms etc.) But despite all that, the staff really understands him and has a general liking towards him. or so I seem to think and hope. :P
So let’s get into more specific details. though their space definitely isn’t as big as Camp Bow Wow, they still separate the dogs by size and temperament. They also have vulcanized rubber laid out on the floor which reduces the stress on dogs’ joints. :) They have individual rooms equipped with beds/​pillows for overnight stays. If your dog’s in for daycare, from 12 – 2 is considered lunch and nap time, and they don’t take visitors who are coming to check out the place out of respect for the dogs.
Prices for day care/​overnight stays anywhere in general are never cheap, but I think they are very reasonable here, especially with the amount of attention they give.
