Excelsior Grand

I came here in 2015 for a party that was hosted here. First thing first is, there a party lot behind them which is extremely important and convenient when it comes to serving a big amount of people. Secondly when I walked into the tall glass heavy doors, there were camp fires and a beautiful curled stairway. Just wow! Then into the dining area with chandeliers shining beautifully and tables all set nicely. Felt like I was walking into my wedding.
We were started off with buffet style food in which the dining room where they had another room for serving foods. Alcohol was served near the food. Perfection! Picked up food then alcohol on the way back to the seats. Overall food was delicious, well entertained for the party and very satisfied with the overall results of this place. You can definitely make anything happen in here from a birthday party to a wedding.

I just had my engagement party here 6÷7÷14, but Ill start from a few weeks prior to when I came to book the room.
Id like to give a huge thank you to Kim, she was the event manager that we dealt with. Kim was kind, knowledgeable, professional and really took her time when going over the details. We went over every choice for each course. She really made the booking a painless and non overwhelming.
The bartenders were on point, we opted for the open bar and we definitely got our moneys worth. Not only were they killing it behind the bar, these guys (two of them) would come out from behind the bar when they had the time and go give everyones glasses full, no one even had to ask.
Our Maiter d, Domenick, is a man of his craft. He was great and attentive. He also came over to us throughout the night to see if we needed anything or for any special requests which was another huge plus.
Servers worked in harmony. Everything was organized and everyone did their job to a T.
The food was excellent, started with hot apps, then salad, pasta, main, dessert, coffee or tea. I didnt get to eat much because I was busy running around taking pictures and trying to be a good host. But I loved the prime rib.
All in all I was extremely happy with the outcome. Everyone went the extra step to make our event special. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to book an event. We had around 150 attendees.

Celebrated the New Year here with their big bash. Nice appetizer cocktail hour. Food and service were fine. DJ was entertaining at the party. The wait staff lost control at dinner. Food took forever. When it did come, my steak was cold, tasty and done to perfection, but cold. The champaign toast, they gave you a quarter of a glass. Come on guys, could you spare a little more. Don’t do the valet parking if you can avoid it. Total confusion.

I attended the staten island democrat dinner last night at the excelsior grand and was flawed by the attention to detail. starting with the valet parking all the way through dessert, not one detail was missed.
upon entering i was impressed with the exterior landscaping, lighting & huge glass atrium’s. the lobby is equally impressive with it’s marble flooring, high ceilings and exquisite décor.
what mostly impressed me was the excellent service & delicious food. 600 guests were in attendance and the service was seamless. the excelsior executed perfectly what would appear to be a challenging task to serve 600 guests.
the evening started with passed hors d’oeuvres and open bar. the first course of the sit down dinner was penne in a tasty marinara sauce with a hint of cream & prosciutto. the garden salad was as fresh as can be and my end cut of prime rib was cooked perfectly & was delicious.
kudos to the campitiello family for providing great food & service consistently for over 4 decades.

Great place for a wedding. The servers are phenomenal, the valet are really attentive and trustworthy. The ceremony set up was romantic and ambiance so perfect. Love this place and it’s history. Congrats ! And salute !!! To happiness and a memorable night.

I think Unilocal should have a better rating system. This place was better than 3 not quite 4 stars… 3.5 stars would be perfect!
Co-​hosted a bridal shower here last weekend.
The Service was 5 star easily. I wish I had the name of our waiter and helper for the day. He was by my side at all times making sure everything was taken care of.
The décor is about a 3.5 to 4. The place is clean, bright and open but while the entry is pretty fancy the rooms are a little plain and basic. With some extra effort you can spice the place up.
The food is just a 3 and that is what keeps this place from getting a higher rating. Some items were really good while others were mediocre. Skip the fried calamari it is a little chewy.
Bottom line this place was affordable and perfect for a Bridal Shower or other smaller event, I think there are better options for a Wedding.

I attended a wedding here and having been to at least 13 weddings each year for the past 6 years, this place by far has the best service! It literally provides a white glove service. They place all the plates down at the same time, they fold your napkin when you leave your seat, they take your empty plates away very quickly. I’m very impressed by the service at Excelsior Grand!

Attended a Confirmation Party 5÷19÷12 place is nice with too MANY parties going on. Party started at 7pm did not get served dinner until after 9:30PM with a useless manager assisting waiter service awful. Please don’t waste your MONEY there !!! Food was OK !!! White Castle is down the block with the same service !!! Hope this is helpful … thank you

Attended a Wedding reception on Dec. 3^rd. The place is all lit up nicely on the outside, inside décor had cheesy outdated 1980’s mirrors in the catering rooms. Cocktail hour food was blaaahhhh. Tasteless and it’s presentation was NOT like those that I’m used to at past weddings that I’ve attended in my day. During the reception, we were told by the DJ to sit for dinner just to wait close to 40 minutes to get our dinner! I complained to the maitre ‘d who couldn’t care less, because he was not apologetic and didn’t even go out of his way to see why our entire tables food was not out yet. The food, when it finally came was COLD and HORRIBLE!
Only thing good about this wedding was the music. The DJ played all types of music for our family, which kind of made me work up an appetite. There is a White Castle a few blocks away from this place that you will probably get a better meal at. (That’s what me and my family did!)
Excelsior Grand: I wouldn’t recommend this place at all to anyone. Food, Service, Clueless Staff of 18 yr old kids ALL HORRIFIC! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
