Upon the recommendation of another professional(who, unbeknownst to me, was actually his college buddy… collusion anyone?), he was hired in a divorce and custody case. The case was difficult, but he assured us he would fight to the end. In reality, he was lazy, unprepared, and only interested in getting paid. He accepted the opposing side’s settlement without any argument whatsoever, attempted to alter the initial retainer agreement, failed to do any due diligence upon the financials, and let the opposing side include a financial agreement that was basically blackmail and was subsequently found to be unenforceable. We ended up firing him.
