Active Citywide Service aka “the Small Move Guys”

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,called the small move guys, starting with the very reasonable price, didn’t even bother to check around… from start to finish, everything went as smooth as silk, they really go out of their way to be courteous, The best part, that a day later while i was unpacking, and couldn’t find one of the items… didn’t think for a minute, it was taken by one the movers, because they are family and the only extra help is a childhood friend. So i knew it’s a matter of time till i run to the right box where i packed this item.
pros, price, Honesty, and dependable.
Cons: my plan all along to tip 20% but after the great experience i felt obligated and went to little over 40% in tipping the guys.
Now, i don’t fear moving any more and if i ever think about moving again, would not drive myself crazy like the way i did going back and force trying to move as much as i can on my own, because i read some bad reviews about movers, that they change the price on you if there was extra items to move.
i don’t feel that i said enough about these guys but trust sl many things went through the move, like placing a super heavy air conditioner in the upper floor than i changed my mind and asked them to take it to the basement, never a second one of these guys made an unhappy face on anything, even they volunteered to install the air conditioner in the window.
but it needs a pro installation because it’s 15 000 B.T.U super heavy.

This family business is a more than five star rating. They came to the rescue today, because Staten Island movers were a no show! Staten Island mover made us wait three hours and ruined my day. In result «the small move guys» came to the rescue! My mother found them on Unilocal,and called yesterday and they fit us in first thing the next day. Honestly they were absolutely fabulous, they did an amazing job wrapping our furniture. They were friendly and efficient. And saved the day! And made my move much easier and less stressful! Thank you! I believe in paying it forward I will always recommend them!

Just wanted to give a shout out to peter and sons for helping my daughter Sarah out when she was in a bind. I found them on Unilocal and am very happy I did. When I called him and told him my daughters movers never showed up he was very helpful and nice. Very sincere company. Great dealing with him and the prices were very reasonable too. Thankyou again for coming to the rescue during a very stressful time

These guys were great from start to finish. I put in my inquiry via their facebook page, and within 20 minutes I received a call with a firm price. We set up the pick-​up/​delivery right then and there. Very fairly priced and incredibly professional. They moved a large fridge and it arrived wrapped with care. The guys even had to take off my front door to fit it, but they made it work without so much as a scratch. Great work all around — will definitely use again in the future!

This is my first Unilocal review since using this service. I had to because of the amazingness of the experience I had with Pete and his sons. I bought a couch on Craigslist that I had to move out the same day from Staten island to Crown Heights. I then spent a frenzied hour calling almost every mover in NYC. Most didn’t pick up, and some who did had terrible phone manners. However, from the minute Pete answered the phone to the moment his team finished delivering my couch, the service was professional, friendly, and completely satisfying.
They were super accomodating in picking up same day. It was a huge couch that once arrived we realized barely fit through the duplex stairs to the basement. The team quickly figured out what to do, carefully executed their plan of removing the banisters, moved in the couch, and reattached the bannisters. They did this so quickly, efficiently and politely that I was blown away! I will definitely be calling them for future jobs to avoid the headache of hiring other movers! Thanks guys!

Honest, reliable and hard-​working guys. If you want a crew that will:
–give you a good quote over the phone
–show up on time
–treat your stuff like it was their own
–not complain about anything
then these are the guys you should call.
I was in a situation where I was trying to coordinate several people and could not afford a no-​show, and these guys came through beautifully. Next time I need movers, I will call them again. Highly recommend.

Amazing… they are now the perfect solution to those last minute — in my case — and planned moves/​help! I called late Monday morning — on a holiday no less — with the hopes of having someone help me move some furniture inside my house and move a new piece from my car to inside the house… Left a message and within an hour we had all set for them to come here by 330 to help me! The price was given to me right at the time of the call and they were here on time! They called in advance and said they were on their way… So professional, so thorough and so wonderful and pleasant to deal with! THESE ARE THE GUYS TO GO TO! Very very accommodating! I almost want to not spread the word how INCREDIBLE they are — because it will be more difficult to get them! The are truly a TREASURE to find on Staten Island!

Long overdue review for these great guys but I’m still recovering from the move!
My parents had a move and my sister and I plus my wife were tasked with moving all the stuff out. We sold a bedroom set to somebody and they hired the Small Move Guys, who met my wife at the house. She told me the guys were incredible. They wrapped everything up so as not to damage walls or the furniture and put it all in their pickup truck.
Sure enough, after emptying out the house, we were left with 2 things I could not do… move the grandfather clock and move the dining room cabinet. The dining room cabinet has glass shelves in it that I didn’t want to fool with, and it was so big that it was tight around the stair corner. So I called these guys for my own use.
A father and sons team, these guys were awesome. They wrapped up the cabinet and cushioned the glass so tight it didn’t move. For what they charged me to move that piece, I would have literally thrown up if I went through the hell of trying to move it and was given that price afterward. Totally not worth the pain, I was happy to pay them and in fact, bargained them UP on the price they gave me when I threw in the dining room table. They were equally great on the grandfather clock.
If you have to move just a few pieces, these are your guys. Call them. Definitely. I even recommended them to a friend who has a concierge business and handle estate sales. I hope he takes my advice and uses these heroes!

Petey and his crew were beyond professional. They helped us move a huge refrigerator from a friends apartment into our third floor walk up and I cannot say enough good things. They texted the day before to confirm, called on their way to our friends building to let us know they would be there on time, checked in to let us know when they were leaving that apartment and called when they were a few blocks away from ours. Not only that, but they handled our refrigerator with the utmost care. They suggested transporting it upright (definitely a LOT harder for them) because it’s better for the fridge. I wouldn’t have known otherwise. They got a four hundred pound refrigerator up two flights of stairs without a scratch on our buildings walls or the refrigerator. It arrived in perfect condition and works perfectly. I googled after the fact and found that many people mistakenly transport fridges on their side and it can ruin them. These guys know their stuff. They are on time, personable and their communication is off the charts. I would hire Petey again in a heartbeat and cannot thank him enough for such a careful job moving an expensive appliance into our home.

I looked up Petey on Unilocal for a move based on 4 reviews. I was a little skeptical given my general experience with NY movers have not been great but Petey and his boys were amazing. I scheduled this move a bit last minute as I got the apartment earlier than I expected. Petey was running a little late (through no fault of his own) and he constantly kept in touch with me to keep me posted on his whereabouts. As soon as his boys showed up they took a look at my stuff and started packing all items very carefully and professionally and Petey waited with the truck downstairs in case of issues with parking. This I think in busy New York streets is a brilliant idea. The move went smoothly and all of them (Frank and Alex assisted with the move) had a great attitude. When I ran into a problem moving in (we were a bit past the deadline) at my new building Petey even pled my case with the building Super who eventually let me move my stuff in. Overall I was very satisfied and happy with my move and glad to see people in NY still have a sense of responsibility towards their customers.
I’ll be using him for all my moves going forward if he is available.

I got to know Petey and his boys after my roommate found them randomly online and booked them a day before she was scheduled to move out.
I’ve called them twice now to move the same large-​sized couch from an apartment to apartment (one in Astoria to another place in Astoria, and then from Astoria to my new apartment in Greenpoint).
First off, with Petey, you don’t have to leave a message and wait for a call back. When you call, he answers right away.
He’s extremely flexible with his schedule (the first of the couch moves was scheduled for 8 p.m. on a Friday night!) and gives you a price beforehand. The second time I called him, he even remembered my name, as well as my friend who referred me.
Petey, who does the driving, always calls about an hour before he’s due to arrive to let you know that he’s running on time. His team of younger guys perform the actual lifting and moving. They’re swift, professional and take extra care in making sure your possessions aren’t destroyed in the move.
The couch they moved was wrapped in a furniture blanket and then wrapped in plastic wrap. The couch cushions were also wrapped individually. I really appreciated this!
I plan on using only these guys if/​when I have to move my entire apartment. They’re reliable, professional local dudes who know the city. I wholeheartedly recommend them!

I found Petey via uship and accepted his bids for 2 jobs that will be done tomorrow. I’m quite nervous at first hiring them because of the lack of reviews but decided to take my chance anyway because of the low price he offered and his enthusiasm to work for me. This review, though, is for a different job. The 2 uship jobs were supposed to be my first experience with these guys but I just got a sweet deal on mattress last minute so I contacted Pete and he offered to come pick it up and deliver either yesterday night or today morning. I decided to go with today morning at 9am. Petey came at 9.15 but did constantly give me update about his location. He even called the seller beforehand to let them know about the delay. He came in with his 3 sons and moved everything out while the seller and I were sitting and chatting. Then they carried everything up to my apartment on the 4^th floor walk up building. No complaints. Positive attitude throughout the trip and they got this done in about an hour 15 minutes (From West Harlem to Sunnyside)
One thing I can say is: do not let the lack of review put you off from contacting these guys. I just got a no-​show from another company who has 4.5 stars on Unilocal but these guys didn’t bail on me; and as a person who just moved to a new apartment, this is what I need right now.
Petey and his team are a honest and reliable group of people. He will keep you company throughout the journey. Very reasonable price and best of all, he can communicate via texts! As a person who gets anxious with phone calls, I couldn’t thank him enough for this. We texted mostly and I only had to do two phone calls-​one to confirm the time/​date/​place of the trip and another when he arrived. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I will definitely continue to use their service.
Since I will be working with them tomorrow as well. There’s another review to come.
***UPDATE: Two more jobs done today. Already gave positive feedback on uship but I will add more info here so people can read and find these amazing services!***
Petey & his team arrived on time (actually I was the one late this time! Yet he was still very nice and told me to take my time). Once I got there, they started working immediately. The guys knew exactly want they needed to do and disassembled the daybed piece by piece and carried it over to the truck. The wooden frames were blanket wrapped; the slatted base was tied together. Everything was done very professionally to make sure no damage would be done to my bed. Everything was done in a little over half an hour and then we drove off from East Village to get the AC from West Harlem. That was an easy job since no disassembly was needed and we left within 5 minutes. Then Petey drove us to Sunnyside and transported everything up to my apartment then began to put the bed back together. The whole work was on them and all I did was lounging around. We started in East Village at 8am and got the whole thing done at around 11.30am and they were out! I seriously couldn’t ask for a better team to help me with apartment move. They deserve million reviews and I hope their name would be out there more.

Pete responded to a Craigslist post I created when I needed to move a bed from one place in Brooklyn to my own. His price was reasonable. I arrived at my friend’s place to pick up the bed, and Pete and his three excellent sons were already there, carefully taking the bed apart. These guys are a real gem — the kind of New Yorkers who you don’t meet every day, and are super thankful that they’re still around. Really, these guys are the best bang for your buck in the moving industry in NYC. They’re reliable, on-​time, and wrapped every piece of the bed individually to make sure that it wasn’t damaged during transit. Then, they reassembled the bed in my room. Perfect, seamless experience. If every mover was like these guys, the world would be a better place.
