History
Established in 1931.
Built in 1931, the Georgian-style The Nittany Lion Inn is owned and operated by Pennsylvania State University and sits on its University Park Campus in the beautiful historic district of State College. The AAA Four Diamond hotel’s immediate proximity to one of the nation’s leading universities has drawn many distinguished visitors over the years. Decorated with fine antiques, it features warm, traditionally furnished guestrooms in a colonial country atmosphere. A smoke-free hotel, The Inn is within walking distance to downtown and a short drive from the scenic Centre County region.
The Inn has hosted Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Lyndon Johnson, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, film star Helen Hayes, and jazz great Louis Armstrong.
