Ni Hao

Still four stars but tonight was definitely not my best experience here. First of all, a lot (I didn’t count but maybe as much as half?) of the sushi had cream cheese in it tonight. I can’t stand cream cheese in sushi so this was a downer for me (though of course tastes differ– my husband, for example, doesn’t mind it at all) as a large proportion of the sushi-​usually my favorite part of Ni Hao– was basically inedible for me tonight.
So I tried other things, and discovered these AWESOME dumplings over at the soup area. I tried one and loved it, and I would have been content to just eat a couple more of these and call it a night. Except then they were never refilled, so I got to try one, but that was it. And since I couldn’t eat much sushi, tonight was pretty much a bust. Oh well. I’ve had great experiences in general so definitely still four stars.

The hibachi and wok ingredients are always really fresh and tasty. The same cannot be said for the sushi and ready-​to-​eat Chinese foods. I’m usually ok with sushi and buffets, but this stuff gets nasty. When I go there, I only eat the hibachi. It’s worth the money when you go for the lunch special.

Delicious hot fresh made food! Definitely not the usual Chinese fare of lots of deep fried batter chicken in different sauces. Lots of sushi variety to choose from as well as a great hibachi grip with an assortment of fresh ingredients to create your dish that’s comes to order according to your liking.
The only reason this restaurant didn’t get the five star they deserve is that the waitresses were very ride. We went in after graduation and the waitresses were very rude. Not very kid friendly. Sorry that we choose to celebrate and couldn’t make our children disappear. Our waitress was rude talking to us and addressing our children. She sure was friendly after the nice tip my husband gave her.
I noticed all of the white families sat to the left of the restaurant, the black families were seated in the back, and my Asian fault of 12 was seated to the right of the restaurant. Segregated? Seemed like it.

For State College, this is pretty decent.
Ni Hao is your All You Care to Eat establishment that focuses on Chinese Cuisine. They have a create your own stir-​fry where you pick the veggies, proteins, and sauce and they cook it before you. They also have a sushi sections, a dim sum section, and of course a Chinese food section.
The dim sum was pretty pathetic to be honest. I’ve had great dim sum and this isn’t it. It tasted more like it was bought frozen and cooked steamed. The sushi was also meh.
As for the Chinese entrees they serve, they were OK although very greasy. I had the friend chicken, chow mien, and some of their beef and chicken stir fry. One of the great things about coming to a place like this is that you can pick several items and place them on your plate without having to eat an entire dish.
Overall it was OK. Although I don’t plan to comeback. I found it very interesting that although they had a lot of food put out (dim sum, sushi, dessert section, chinese food, and stir-​fry), they really didn’t have a lot to offer. All the food was really spread out and I think they did that to make the food area look full.
So that’s my take. I heard College Buffet is better and I pass that place many time, but I am never that hungry to check it out. Perhaps someday.

Love the food! Bit expensive when you go during dinner time but I go usually before 3pm and get a great deal!

The food was ok but mostly cold. I was able to deal with this as I am the one who ventured into a Chinese Buffet after 8 pm. I typically would avoid a buffet on off hours. Like I said, the food was ok, possible good if it were hot, but I ate minimally with caution due to the temperature. I was a bit disturbed to see one of the workers picking through the chicken and broccoli removing select pieces. Was she getting the good stuff for dinner, or more likely removing the suspect? I’ll never know, I avoided this dish. Either way, the experience didn’t deserve a review (good or bad) until I was hit with a staggering $ 18 bill. What? For what? Cold shrimp and a bowl of wonton soup? If they are going to charge that much late night then crank up the steam tables and put some fresh food out. I left feeling fleeced, and well… Hungry for fair I have more confidence in.

The buffet is good with a lot of variety: Rice, curry, Sushi, hibachi, traditional Chinese cuisine, and some excellent dessert.
The menu never changes though, making this a predictable meal but also repetitive.

I’ve been by twice for lunch… Nice décor… But, it was obvious to me that they reserved food leftover from the previous night dinner buffet. I don’t want to pay. $ 12 to eat last night’s leftovers. Disappointed…

Very good environment and good service. The kinds of food is enough to choose. But the food tastes just OK and not very authentic Chinese. And the price is expensive. I don’t think the food and the service here worth that much.

This was my second time at Ni Hao. It was a good as the first. Definitely do the hibachi (included in the price). A lot of value for the money here…

The service was real lame, the waitress never came back to us since we were seated (had to place all our finished plates on the table next to us to create room on our table), BUT she’s quick at giving us the bill when she saw us eating fruits… unbelievable service huh? BTW, they weren’t busy at all that day… there were probably a total of 5 tables of customers.
Food wise… it wasn’t anything special. Food were lukewarm at best (Chinese food doesn’t taste good lukewarm!) and the cold food and fruit aren’t cold… not sure how they do it in such a bad way. Terrible place, would much rather spend my $ 17/​person at a take out or McDonald’s.

Very good sushi for college. I can’t speak for the quality of the other offerings but they looked appealing. Very very clean for a buffet and They do enough business that the good gets turned over pretty often. Like any buffet I would not want to go there on a slow day.

Good variety. Food quality though is not very impressive. Most of the food was cold.
Staff is friendly.

Its a huge buffet with a bunch of types of veggies, plates, meats and whatever you want. Is like 10 dollars per person but you certainly can eat as much as you want and as many times you want. It is very clean. The attention is so so. It was so funny, our lucky cookie had a paper inside that said:“try again”.

My wife and I had become regulars at the College Buffett in the WalMart Plaza but this place has made that an instant memory. Not only does this have a larger selection of choices, but the flavors really pop. I started with my usual picks ago I could better compare. Um, no comparison. General Tso’s Chicken was perfect, the hot and sour soup had some spicy great and I didn’t have to add any soy sauce. Add to that protein that are hibachi’d right in front of you and the plethora of sushi (which I don’t eat anyway), you can’t lose.

The most tasty Chinese Buffet restaurant in state college, which consists of 8 sections from sushi to habachi to fruit and ice cream. The Chinese food part have more options!

When you first walk in, there’s not a lot of people. To be honest, I think there’s more staff than customers. Maybe because it was Sunday dinner but the place did seem very empty. I didn’t try the hibachi but the dim sum was HELLA nasty. I had a piece of the crystal shrimp one and part of it was too hard for me to chew. The fried shrimp and spring roll were just reheated frozen foods and everything thing just stayed there. Also the sushi was so tiny, it was almost similar to eating a peanut. Okay… Maybe three peanuts but no more then 5. I just felt really bad so I’m giving it two stars… But I would not go again… Even if I was paid.
Each person was about $ 16 so it wasn’t worth it. Just go to a chinese restaurant and order a big bowl of lomain for way less.

Been wanting to come here for a while… I have to say I’m a little disappointed. The price for a lunch is 9.99 $ which I personally feel is high. The place has your typical Chinese buffet, a soup and Dim Sum bar, Sushi, and what they call a «Fresh Ingredient» Bar. They have the hibachi and Mongolian Wok as well. You say, «That’s a lot! Why only 3 stars?» It may be a lot, but none of it was done great, just adequate. When you pay a certain amount for a buffet you expect certain things and quality. Here, you just don’t receive them. They didn’t even have egg rolls. The desserts were tolerable… They did have fresh cut pineapple which was a pleasant surprise.
As I’m writing this, my partner is now out of the car almost throwing up, so SOMETHING isn’t sitting well. There was no American food either. BUT the biggest travesty was that they did not have a waving cat at the counter.
All in all, I’ll stick with Chens or College Buffet in State College

— Dinner is at least $ 16
— Most of the (fried) sushi ends up tasting the same after a while
