B & B Nails

Got a mani pedi. Felt like I was rushed and the technicians were distracted and talking the entire time. I had to ask my technician to cover my entire nail. Her two coats left a section on a few of my nails on one hand not painted. She did a good job other than that. I probably wouldn’t return.

I used to come here during college and was generally pleased with the results… However I won’t be returning after today… The pedicure was very rushed and the results were very sloppy! Should have just done my own at home.

I went with my friend last week for pedicures here. The color selection was not very good, there were a lot of low end brands to choose from and much of the polish was old. The place looked a little dirty and there were kids running around. The pedicure itself was fine, I enjoyed the hot wax they put on my feet. It was $ 23 for a pedicure, so if you’re looking for something cheap this is place will do, but don’t go expecting a spa experience.

I went today (Feb. 2016). This is a «typical» nail salon not a fancy 5 star salon. However, the people were very nice, the prices were good, and there was a wide range of color choices. My daughter had a child’s mani/​pedi and I got a full set. We are both very happy with our nails and designs. The salon is a little «older» but everything was very clean. I would come back the next time we visit PSU.

I have been a customer for many years. I previously went to a high end nail salon downtown and repeatedly had broken nails. B & B nails hold up to my daily use and look beautiful. I get compliments all the time! This is a FAMILY owned company. Affordable pedicures and nails.

This isn’t a spa by any means — but if you are looking for a cheap manicure or pedicure, this place is perfect.
Yeah, you’ll be put in a seat and sit there for 15 – 20 minutes before they start, but that’s what you are paying for.
They always do a great job with polish for me! Regular nail polish or gel, they do both great.
Also, student discounts available and it’s cheaper if you pay with cash!

I have been going here since 2012 and actually recommended people go here when they moved to town. However, I can guarantee you I will NEVER go there again. I went to get a simple gel manicure. I called ahead of time, was told to come later than I wanted so I didn’t have to wait and decided to do so. I showed up and was immediately sat at one of the tables (which is normally a good sign). However, I was far from wrong. After sitting there for fifteen minutes with NO ONE talking to me, one guy came over and sat a bowl of alcohol in front of me and told me to soak my nails. I sat for 30 minutes with my nails soaking in the alcohol and again, NO ONE acknowledged me. My old gel polish was peeling off by then so I literally scraped them off and got up to leave feeling completely disrespected. I looked at every worker on my way out and not one person looked up at me. As a regular customer, I felt completely disrespected and this is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They definitely lost a loyal customer.

Huge, loud TV in the back of the place which the technicians stare at while doing your nails. Not at all helpful when I entered, poor choice of colors, unfriendly and kind of dirty and run down. Too bad.

The salon itself is disgusting: nail clippings on the floor, dust all over the place. But, they actually do a pretty good job on the nails. Most of the people there seem to care a lot about the quality of your nails.

Hands down the worst manicure and pedicure I have ever had.
Pedicure: after asking the technician to fix my toes, my foot still looked like I stubbed my toes the second that I stood up from the chair. The polish is uneven, smudged, and doesn’t cover the entire nail.
The «spa» pedicure included a slap of lotion on the leg. My feet were raw from how rough the technician scrubbed my heels. My feet were never soaked and I noticed that some customers received a hot towel on their legs post pedicure. My technician neglected to provide me with this «luxury».
Manicure: my gel manicure also does not cover the entirety of each nail. It was starting to peal away immediately upon leaving the salon. My cuticles were barely touched and yet again; a slap of lotion that I had to rub in myself. I also did not get the clear pre-​coat that is necessary for a gel manicure to sustain. Careless.
Customer Service: the technician was in a rush throughout the entirety of my visit. When asked to fix my toes, he was aggravated and resentfully «fixed it». In the middle of my manicure he stood up and started to give another customer a pedicure. The entire staff was loudly chatting across the salon and no one was focusing on the customers. When using different tools, technicians across the board were careless and not paying attention. There was also no «hello, how are you?» or any semblance of the standard pleasantries that a service oriented industry is expected to possess. Upon completion of my manicure, I asked about the student discount that I was told about over the phone. I was then told that the student discount was not being accepted today. This is a huge lack of consistency and left me
questioning the legitimacy of the business.
Cleanliness: calling this establishment shoddy would be a compliment. In between pedicures the water station was given a once over with a dirty rag. The tools were rinsed with the same water that was sprayed on my hands and feet, with no emphasis on sterilization or sanitation. The same paper towel was used throughout the entirety of my visit. The pad that I rested my arms on while I got my manicure was greasy and clearly had not been washed in a decent bit of time.
This experience was so bad that it borders on comical. The lack of customer service, the inefficiencies, and the lack of both quality and cleanliness are the types of things that you see in bad movies. I would have to be paid to go back– and even then that might not be enough incentive to return.

With most salons and such in town, I really don’t stick to one. I kind of jump around depending on what and where I’m doing/​going that day. B & B is a nail salon I keep coming back to. Yes, the negative reviewers are right, the place is a bit dirty and outdated. The service I get there is great. I am always greeted upon walking in, I’m told if there’s going to be a wait, and the people treat me well. Because of the language barrier, they don’t talk a lot but I don’t mind.
I recommend a regular manicure. It’s regular polish with base and top coats for $ 12. The polish stays on well over a week if I take care of my nails by wearing gloves to wash dishes and clean.

This place is a dump.
They actually do reasonable work, as the pedicures last a long time. The location is convenient for me, so I REALLY WANT to like this place. But last time I was there, their kid was sick and running all over, and I came down with the same cold a few days later. The rug is filthy, the ventilation is terrible, and the TV is always playing CNN or something noisy. The employees often smoke right at the entrance, which is a real turn-​off.
I’ve gone 3 or 4 times, but that’s it; I’m not going back unless they clean it up.

You definitely get what you pay for at this place. While the prices are fairly inexpensive, the quality of the pedicure I had was mediocre at best. The cleanliness of the establishment was poor. The employees were pretty friendly and did offer us bottles of water during our pedicures. The water I soaked my feet in was lukewarm and the technician didn’t ask me if the temperature was good or anything like that. I don’t live in the area, but I’m sure there has to be a place better than this to get a pedicure.

One day i went here to get a mani and pedi. It was absolutely the best one i had. I loved the hot towel and the massage they gave me. I do not know why people say their service is bad because they were kind to me. People should stop saying things that are not true about this place. Best place for nails

Literally the worst place to get your nails done ever. DO NOT go here. They are rude and disrespectful. They are overpriced. The place is a DUMP. Terrible service. You’re better off going to CVS and doing your nails yourself.

Wow these people are rude! And the quality was TERRIBLE! This reminds me of why State College needs competition, this place would never stay in business in a city with options.
First, I got yelled at by the woman in charge because I told her that the acetone I was dipping my fingers in to get my gel nails off was bothering my skin. Most salons put the acetone just on your finger nail with a cotton ball and secure it with tin foil — not this place.
Second, I paid extra to have my nails buffed and when the guy was «finished» there was still glue and white gunk all over my nails. He tried to tell me something about it being my nails peeling. I made him do it again and sure enough, it was the glue.
I will never go back there.

I had the worst mani/​pedi here! The service was atrocious. The lady who served me was incredibly rude and didn’t communicate with me at all, she preferred to push, pull and shove my hands and feet as she needed. They were way overpriced too, I was visiting from NY and this was the most I’ve paid for a mani/​pedi. I visit state college occasionally, but rest assured, I will NOT be coming back to B&B Nails and I urge local folks to stay away. Their service messed with my mood for the rest of the day.

I had the worst manicure here. The overall quality isn’t what sucked it was hands down the customer service. I got a full-​set. I will be brief:
1. I sat in the waiting area for 5 minutes. I was then told to sit at a specific station where I waited an additional 15 minutes for service. In that time 2 other people came in and were seated & serviced before me.
2. My manicurist was rushing. I’m not a fan of people wielding sharp pointy tools around my cuticles in a disorderly fashion.
3. When she applied the fake nail, she clipped it before even asking if I was okay with the length! Who does that?! I had actually wanted it a few millimeters longer. I was NOT happy about that.
3. I specifically requested a rounded nail with a slightly squared edge. She gave me a square nail with rounded edges. I wasn’t satisfied. I asked her to round it out a bit and she literally got huffy about it. She proceeded to round out the edges. When it still wasn’t to my liking I asked as sweetly as possible, «It looks great but could you please round it out a bit more?» She just glared at me and said I should have asked for a round nail. I get this same style all the time and I’ve never had a problem with a manicurist interpreting my request.
4. The price I was charged was not the price listed on their service menu. I’m from LA and this was the most I’ve ever paid for a manicure.
I was only visiting the area so will most likely never be back, I just thought I should warn the fine folks of State College to stay far, far away.

I’ve been here a couple times for pedicures. They’re reasonably priced and you get a spa pedicure. If you pay with cash, you get a discounted price.
