La Quinta Inn & Suites Starkville at MSU

I loved my stay! The staff remembered me from a previous trip and the complimentary breakfast had real bacon.
The beds were comfy.
The water took a few seconds to turn hot but the water pressure was great.
The hotel is very clean.
It is in a very good location. It is just a few minutes away from the Mississippi State University Campus and it very accessible.

DON’T STAY HERE! Here’s why:
If I could give this particular La Quinta a zero I would because I am so angry with them. Following are the reasons:
1. We asked for a quiet room. Top floor, away from the elevator and ice machine. The guy said that he could not give us a top floor room and assigned us a 3^rd floor. This in spite of the fact that there were only 10 cars in the entire parking lot. The room above us was occupied and the person (s) up there kept stomping around, dropping things, slamming a door (bathroom?) and opening/​closing (slamming) dresser drawers. This went on ALL NIGHT LONG. This in spite of the fact that this hotel was built only a year ago. Warning: the construction is flimsy … you can hear everything. My wife and I were awakened numerous times during the night and had the worst nights sleep in a hotel EVER.
2. You have to sign with a username/​password into the WIFI. When I did that, their provider (EthoStream Services) replaced every one of my 22 bookmarks with their page. Those bookmarks were important to what I have been working on and they obliterated every one of them and wiped out my history.
3. The bathroom light and the loudest bathroom fan on the planet are ganged together to one switch. Consequently, if you get up in the middle of the night and turn on the light, the fan comes on and wakes your wife (who has already been awakened numerous times by the insomniacs upstairs).
Other problems:
1. Over-​priced, compared to other, similar hotels in the area. We were fooled because it was new.
2. The worst pillows I have experience in any hotel. Might as well have inflatable pillows.
I suggest: FIND YOURSELF A DIFFERENT HOTEL.

In short, I’d give this place a solid B. Here are the details:
Pros
1. New and clean w/​modern décor
2. Good location near MSU and Hwy 12
3. one of the better continental breakfasts included
4. Samsung LCD TV with HD
5. Instant on hot water
Cons
1. Bad pillows
2. Walls are a little thin
3. A little pricey
I paid about $ 105 for one night which seems a little high for the area so if the price were $ 85 – 90, it would be a much better value. As is, its a pretty good choice and one that I recommend.
