History
Established in 1994.
Common Ground Center began in 1994 as Camp Common Ground, a two week family camp program operating at rented space.
In 1998 and 1999, what came to be known as Hogback Heaven Farm purchased a 700 acre parcel of land, intending it as the permanent home of Camp Common Ground. The property included two residential houses, several barns, open fields, wetlands, forested land and 600 acres of hiking trails on the Hogback Mountains. A conservation easement for about 550 acres on the Hogbacks was donated to the Vermont Land Trust, insuring that the part of the property visible from the town of Starksboro would never be developed.
Common Ground Center ran its first program on site in 2004, and since then we have introduced several new theme-based programs for families and adults. Construction of a year-round Eco-Lodge was completed in 2011 and the Common Ground Center is now available for weddings and other facility rentals throughout the year.
