Sylvan Learning Center

This is a long one because I have to paint you all a picture first so bear with me.
I am the mother of a 10year old boy who, after moving to three different schools, does not fit the everyday mold of what a public school child should be. My son has been through the ringer with horrible teachers, bullying children and adults. It has been a fight for us to keep his confidence up. After so many people gave up on him it’s been really hard to keep him motivated. We just moved for the last time this year and we were so excited after doing a lot of research into what public school district is the best. One month in to the school year his teacher informed us «He won’t pass the fourth grade and as long as he can write a story problem I know I will have done my job». We got home and I fell to pieces and can’t comprehend how any teacher can just give up, let alone every teacher that we have had. I have volunteered as well as talked to every counselor, principal, teacher and anyone that would listen to please communicate with us so we can ensure his success. Not once has communication been kept and we are led to believe everything is perfect until the parent teacher meetings. My husband and I work very hard and don’t make a lot of money but I knew we had to figure something out before we lost our son’s innocence. That’s when I saw a GroupOn for a free evaluation from Sylvan and four lessons at half price. Our whole family pulled their money together after that to let him continue going and he has now been going for about 100 hours. Twice a week two hour lessons each time. He is a new kid! He hates going to school but loves going to Sylvan. Just last week on our way he sang, «I love Sylvan, Sylvan is so cool» the whole way. He loves all his teachers and its funny that no one has had any issues and he is working hard and being accepted.
Sherri is the director there and she is a life changer. I have never met anyone so dedicated to making a difference in a child’s life. My son feels so happy, so confident and so safe with her. She took the time to get to know him and build his confidence. Sherri also pointed us in the right direction to continue with our son’s success and I will never be able to thank her enough. They care as if they were family. Sylvan in Stanwood has changed my son’s life forever and I will forever tell everyone I can how extremely worth it they are.
