As a Social Media manager, the first thing I always do is go online to read up on a business before doing any business. American Camper Shells is on all of it and I had a good idea of what to expect prior to going in.
The service and staff were great. They were busy today but had enough staff to minimize waiting. Install took a little over 2 hours for my shell. Jerry was my salesman and David my installer. They answered all of my questions and gave me a thorough walk-​through afterwards. I felt that the install quality was great.
The sales room/​floor inside was clean and had a lot more truck accessories for sale than I thought. Wheels, neef bars, racks, and more. There is a waiting area outside with chairs with shade and a vending machine.
They made sure I knew I could come back if there were any issues at all and I wouls go back for another purchase in the future. Definitely recommended. Well run business.

I just ordered a Leer Camper Shell for a new F150. These guys have been fantastic so far, Jerry Oscar and then Jeff (Manager) answered all my questions in great detail on the phone an then when I went in to place the order (and check out the workshop). Follow up email/​questions were answered promptly with a phone call Nice! They were very specific about the install details and my concerns about breaking into the wiring loom on brand new truck. Clearly they go above and beyond, I had spent time on the phone with competition in this region and been very disappointed with the other places lack of interest in my business, I honestly felt like I was an inconvenience to them. Not to mention American Camper Shells offered better pricing than the others. I checked out the workshop they do a lot of custom installs and great work so looking forward to when the new truck arrives and my Topper get installed you can hang out and see it getting done too. My advise don’t waste time with the competition, go here. Ask for Jeff Oscar or Jerry they will take care of you. This is how a business should treat you from the start.

They put a shell on my truck and they told me to stop by and we can adjust it. The two times I did it in 4 years it took 3 minutes. Its easy. I drove down from LA, stopped in and I always tip $ 20 but the manager didn’t care and said I needed an appointment and he can’t afford to take a guy off the job. Meanwhile, two guys are sitting on their butts. So, I asked the owner guy and he said there is no way to do it. I get the ‘make appointment’ thing but I bought two shells. Felt the customer service was a joke and will never buy from them again. The guy didn’t even say, «Can you come back in 1 hour» or act like he’s sorry he couldn’t help me. It was like, «Make an appointment or get the f out of here.» Not cool but it is what it is. The shell is nice so whatever.

I have an F250 and bought a 2015 Lance 855S Slide-​in Camper (about $ 30K) back in April 2015. I’ve worked with Jeff and Caeser the most and they’re just great guys. I’ve had a few issues and they’ve been really responsive and helpful and they haven’t nickel and dimed me. For example, my remote for the jacks was periodically freezing and I live in San Diego so it would’ve been a pain to drive all the way up there and I could never reproduce it reliably. So Jeff sent a replacement remote through warranty for no cost directly to my house and I shipped back the other one. This type of customer service is great. If you’re in the market for a Lance truck camper, I highly recommend this place.

I’ve had at least 10 trips here over the years to this spot for my vehicles.
Always taken care of. Always updated via phone with changes and updates.
Not always 100% with appointments and bookings but it’s all good. These guys take care of you and make efforts to be efficient and do solid work.
I’d suggest calling the day prior to an appt to double check.

I ordered my SnugTop Aero Sport for my Tundra and they set me up for an install date. Jerry knows his products, knows what works, and didn’t push anything onto me. What impressed me the most is that when I dropped my truck off to get the shell and step bars installed, Jerry noticed my spray-​on bedliner (not installed by them) had a gouge out of it. He took it upon himself to contact the company an have it repaired for me, as it was a defect.
This is the type of old school customer service that keeps me shopping there and keeps me referring people there. This is why they thrive and others fail. Thanks guys

The crew here have installed 2 camper shells for me. Both experiences were excellent Nice staff who communicate well and are patient with questions. Jerry in particular is their «go to» guy and I recommend working with him on product questions and pricing. Overall great experience and I’ll use them again if needed.

Brought my truck here for a Snugtop Tonneau cover. They did a great job. The people here were very cool and honest. I had the top of the line product installed with keyless entry, carpet under the hood, and lighting.
I had to set an appointment to have it installed once they received it from the manufacturer. This place seems to be very busy all the time. I sat outside at their patio table area for about 2.5 hours while they installed the top.
This older man, approximately 85 — 90 years old, was waiting for something to be installed on his van; I believe it was for his wheel chair. That poor man looked like he was going to collapse. The people here were so nice, they went next door to McDonald’s and bought him a cup of coffee. That’s really good service.

Jeff Wood (salesman) at American Camper was terrific to work with when I bought my Lance overhead camper. He was professional, courteous, always returned my phone calls promptly and even came in on his day off to help me look over campers so I chose the right one. He’s also very knowledgeable about all things RV.
I would gladly recommend American Camper and Jeff Wood for anyone looking.

Great place for auto accessories. I have a 2015 sprinter van and I had a few things done. Best of all I had them install a wall between the cab and the cargo area. Awesome wall, love it. The AC now works great, the noise dropped 80% and on top over everythiung the wall looks awesome. I will try and post a few pics.

Would highly advise against using them.
After driving around to a couple dealers I brought in my truck to get a shell due to them being local to me. After dealing with the salesman I was told there were only two shells available that fit my truck. One was their upgraded model and one was the lower. Only difference I saw was the difference in handles on the back window. Which the salesman confirmed the main difference is the way the back door is built. We went with the lower model (which the salesman referred to as better than the other shells I looked at). Paid my deposit (50%) and they said it would be ready in a couple weeks. This was after referring to all literature and ensuring a proper fit.
Fast forward a couple days… I get a call from my salesman and he states that although the shell showed it was correct for my truck. On all their literature, It will in fact not fit. He then proceeded to tell me that the more expensive model will fit. Obviously I wasn’t happy but asked if there was anything we could do since I need the shell. The response from the salesmen showed how little value they have towards their customers. He first started off with asking me why I felt they should take a hit on their profit. When the literature he had was incorrect in regards to fitment. But he had no issues whatsoever with charging me the full price for the «upgrade». I wasn’t the one who selected the shell not was i the one who checked the fitment chart.
What i did do was reach out to the manufacturer of the particular shell I ordered and found no fitment issues with my vehicle. Even though the salesman stated otherwise.
After quite a bit of back and forth I finally got them to give me my deposit back since they were unable to provide me with a solution that worked out. I am not willing to give my hard earned money to someone who isn’t willing to work hard for it. The customer service was atrocious and in dealing with them it was like they were doing me a favor.

STAY AWAY. They have terrible attitudes, are incompetent and will rip you off

Well, 10 months ago I bought a new truck and so I took it to American camper shell.
I spent $ 5500, they did a great job on the begging, even that they said that my staff weight will work fine with the tool box, I don’t think so, anyway… This is how a positive review Turning to a negative review
Last Thursday I came out to the shop, I told the guy that my tool box is locked close and this my business and I can’t wait, this is a super emergency for me, the guy said «come back on Monday, there is nothing I can do right now we all busy» really ?
He didn’t even try to open it by himself to see what’s wrong with it.
He also said they will have to brake it and it will cost me to brake it and then I’ll have to replace it, no shit I paid for this tool box $ 1500 in less then a year ago.
I had to drill three holes in the tool box to open it.

We went to American Camper on Beach, don’t know if they were very busy at the time or what the issue was but the gentleman behind the counter at American Camper was uninformative, and his answers were very closed off with little or no explanations or no talk about different options, I felt like I was not wanted there so we just left, took our business elsewhere and picked up a camper shell at L. A Camper Shells in Downy California. I was very disappointed in the customer service.

First of all, this place has been here a long long time. I bought a rear electric slider window and a painted tonneau cover here in 1994 for my Cheviy truck. The back electric window is still going strong. And after all these years, the outer weatherstrip just started falling off the truck bed lid and the inner weatherstrip had one loose spot. So I stopped by to get it fixed.
When I got there I talked to Kyle. He told me the outer weatherstrip part was $ 50 and $ 85 to install it. He then offered to take a look at it. He recommended to just remove the outer weatherstrip, which I did. He then sprayed an adhesive on the loose section of the inner strip and didn’t even charge me.
American Camper Shells offer very great products here and Kyle offered great customer service!

Went with my hubby to get his camper shell side window replaced today. Hubby spoke with Kyle, ordered the window a couple of weeks ago and set the appt for the install over the phone. We didn’t mind driving from Alh to this location because of the excellent service right from the beginning. Dropped off the truck for the estimated hour while we went to have lunch and did a little shopping at the nearby mall. Kyle said it would be done in about an hour, so we got back about an 1 ½ hr later and the truck was ready. A+++++++++ for friendly and awesome service. Definitely recommended!

I bought a fully loaded Snug Top shell and Bed Rug from here 9 months ago. I remember when I came in the staff was friendly and professional. Their prices were competitive and even matched a price from another local dealer.
I had a few minor issues come up over the past few months, so I brought it back down to get them fixed. They immediately pulled my truck in and took care of everything. Talk about customer service! I will definitely be coming back to make any future purchases!

This place sucks. I used to shop at their sister store, Mother Truckers, before it shut down (How did I find out that Mother Truckers shut down? Funny you should ask… just keep reading!) and they were pretty good, so I figured this place would be OK too. Actually, I had shopped here ONCE before my most recent experience; I bought an attachment for my Thule racks to carry my surfboards. Anyhow, I went back here a couple of weeks ago for two reasons:
1) I have a SnugTop shell on my truck. There is a strip of rubber along the bottom of the glass door on the back of the shell that was just barely starting to peel up at the corner. I wanted to get it glued down.
2) One component on my Thule racks was totally rusting out on me, which shouldn’t be happening… especially considering what I paid for them.
So I figured I’d visit this place to get the rubber strip on the shell glued down, and inquire about the warranty on the Thule stuff I’d bought from them.
OK, first the rubber strip. I walk in and explain the problem and one of the employees walks out to my truck with me to take a look at it. I show him the corner than needs to be glued down. Without warning, this clown grabs the rubber strip, yanks hard on it, and RIPS it nearly halfway off the truck… then turns to me and, with a straight face, says, «Oh, that needs to be replaced». Well, yeah… it does NOW, you dumbass! So now, thanks to this idiot, I’ve got two feet of rubber dangling off the back of my truck. So I tell him, «Hell no, I’m not replacing it – you turned a tiny problem into a HUGE one, so fix it!» He then tells me all the techs are at lunch and I’ll have to wait 45 minutes. I tell him I’d rather not wait and that I’ll instead drive over to their other nearby store (Mother Truckers) and see if they can fix it. He says, «Yeah, OK, check with them.»
So I drive down to Mother Truckers only to find it doesn’t exist anymore and the lot is now a used car dealership. So I call American Campershells and guess who picks up the phone? Yup, it’s the jerkoff who ripped the rubber strip off my truck! I say to him: «Hey, I was just there 10 minutes ago and decided to drive to your other store to get service since all your techs are at lunch… except your other store isn’t here. Did they move to another location?»
He says, «Oh no, that store closed down a while ago.»
I replied, «…» followed by, «Then how come when I was speaking to you 10 minutes ago and told you I was leaving to visit your other store you didn’t think to tell me THAT IT DOESN’T EXIST ANYMORE?!?»
His answer to that question was something along the lines of: «Uhhhhh…duh…I dunno.»
So I drive back to American Camper Shells to wait for the techs to come back from lunch and fix the damage their co-​worker caused to my truck. When I peeked into the work area, guess which «tech» was doing the repairs? Yeah, you guessed it – it was the guy who caused the damage in the first place… and then LIED about nobody being available to fix it because they were all at lunch!
Next, we go to the 2^nd reason I visited this place: the Thule warranty. This employee I’d been forced to deal with looks up my account in their computer and claims that I didn’t buy the Thule racks there because they have no record of that sale under my account. So I left in frustration, drove home, opened my file cabinet, pulled out the receipt and… yup, sure enough, at the top of the receipt it says «American Camper Shells».
*Sigh* I’m just still trying to figure out how someone as stupid and inept as the guy I dealt with has gone this long without getting fired. I’m also wondering why this company would willingly employ such a moron. Why would they tolerate such poor customer service from their employees?
End result: I’m going to go straight to Thule for warranty service. I’m also NEVER shopping here again!
