We usually do extravagant things for our anniversary. Last year, we found ourselves with not enough time and not enough money to do our usual. Instead, we decided to get away for a long weekend in the mountains of western VA. I can’t speak for the main house, but the Wooodland Cabin was a nice way to get away from everyone and spend time with your honey. The furnishings were woodsy, without being hokey, and with both a couch and dining room table you could easily hole up for a few days. Breakfast was delivered to our room, the outdoor hot tub was private and the owner was nice enough to help me set up a surprise vowel renewal(including a new ring). If I had a complaint, I’d say it’s that the sign out front is not well lit and we drove right by the place twice. The owner also seemed a little overworked, but as her husband was serving in Iraq at the time we were there, it was certainly understandable. In the end, it’s a great way to escape the DC metro scene without airport security or spending a ton of cash.
