This review is for the new and improved Trout and Troll. The new name and new atmosphere is called Orchard Beer Garden. We finally got a chance to visit, and glad we did. Everything we ordered was fantastic! From the basket of fresh popped popcorn to the beer cheese soup to the Orchard salad to the fried chicken and speziale to the ice cream sandwich. Wait staff is attentive and friendly, place is warm, cute and welcoming like a great neighborhood hot spot. I highly recommend Orchard Beer Garden, there is something for everyone.

Everything I’ve had here has been fantastic. The wings, the kids meals, the steak and desserts all delicious and the customer service is always pleasant.

Well folks I’ve been to the place 10 times with my family and we have truly enjoyed the food. Atmosphere is enjoyable. Just stopped by for a late lunch arrived at 1:40 and walked in the door which was open, ready to be seated and was told«we don’t open for 20 minutes». There was a party in the main dining room but the door was open for patrons to come in. I was surprised we were blown off so easily just gives me more evidence why these place up in the stix can’t stay open, just no common sense on how to treat regular paying customers. On our way to the upstream grill. Thanks.

Love their wings! I can’t think of a better place to spend a low key night. The view from their patio is amazing and our kids love playing on the beach and the dock!

Great meal tonight! Emily our server was great. She made a fantastic recommendation. The Crab Avocado sandwich was like a upscale New England Lobster roll with a cool twist. Really enjoyed it. Fined outside by the lake. Great time!

Burgers and wings are over cooked, and server was not helpful. Use to love this place but they need to get their shit together and fix the food already. Great location just need great food.

Yeah, I really wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because its a cool location and good menu but the chef here just sucks. The first time we went my wife got a special, the halibut and it came out totally raw in the middle. Then I go there with a bunch of us, three of us order burgers medium rare, and they all come out extremely well done. We tell the server and she’s like«oh well» and doesn’t offer to get new ones cooked or anything. From what I can tell talking to other people this is just like their standard mode of operation here. It’s a great location on the lake and usually has some good beers on tap but that’s really all that saves it from a one star rating.

Another weird visit to the Trout and the Troll. My previous review stated that the food was inconsistent and again today it happened again. The service is always great here first of all. We ordered the bbq wings and today they were spot on! They were crunchy, well seasoned and hot. I ordered the Blt risotto for dinner and it was terrible. The rice was over cooked and the dish was very bland. Anytime I ever had risotto at Salt it has been fantastic, however tonight it was terrible. My wife had the special burger called the Mexican and it was excellent. I ended up splitting the burger with my wife. The manager came over and noticed that I didn’t like the risotto and he apologized for the mistake. Once again the manager and staff here are excellent. I guess we will keep coming, but we may start going back to Salt instead.

Clean establishment with a unique menu. The food is excellent with lovely presentation and a fantastic venue. Reasonably priced menu that has some off beat traditional meals. Indoor and outdoor seating with a small bar.

Food isn’t bad but if you’re looking for a more Gastropub feel, Salt is the better option.

Big fan of Salt; first visit at T&T. Pleasant manager and wait staff but sat and sat waiting for drink order. Finally, but out of our first choice beers. OK, wait and wait again for appetizer order and water. Burgers were cooked incorrectly, no offer to take back, only sorry. Inexperienced wait staff with head in the clouds. I really expected more.

Another winner from Chef Brad. Great food, great service, great ambiance on the lake. Salt will be my winter place and the Troll my summer favorite.

Down to earth food, beer choices from cheap to snobby, and you’re not paying extra for the view. Just lovely.

Our drinks were slow in coming, then we were about finished before we placed our orders. Well into the second round before the appetizers arrived. Sorry to say, we waited more than a half hour after that before our dinners. Many apologies for the wait. Food would have been acceptable without the wait. They had a musician but not to be heard out on the deck.

It’s a nice neighborhood bar. Bar tenders on the young side, so may be slow. Food: had the buttermilk fried chicken(2 breasts). Kinda dark crust(I think the oil needs changing). Spicier than expected(good thing). Too much seasoning. The mashed potatoes did not have enough seasoning. Put them together and they are perfect. Would be nice if both the chicken and some mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The gravy was pretty bland, did not contribute to the experience. The corn had a nice contrasting texture.

More family-friendly version of Salt Gastropub, with lake views, and a different menu. I’ve tried the pizza, burgers, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and wings, all delicious!

Wonderful atmosphere, great drinks and service. Ordered fried cheese curds for $ 6.50. What arrived was 7 small mozzarella balls. Basically, it looked like 2 mozzarella sticks were cut into pieces and fried. These were not cheese curds. The accompanied marinara sauce was excellent. The BLT/grilled cheese was awesome, but a small portion of lackluster coleslaw and 2 small slices of pickle, left a lot to be desired, especially for the $ 9.00 price tag. Overpriced, small portions, but good food. I hope the place adjusts their portion sizes or prices. When the weather gets cold and you can’t sit on the outside decks, I’m afraid this restaurant won’t survive.

Good quality food. Left hungry. Could afford to develop a craft beer selection that resembles Salt. Otherwise, there are 30 beers on tap on Hopatcong.

Great new place! Nice, welcoming atmosphere, great artwork on the walls and right on Lake Lackawanna with outdoor seating and a deck. Great live music regularly and terrific traditional comfort food. Highly reccomended!
